Watergate: Scandal in the White House

Rate this book
Early on June 17, 1972, police arrested five burglars in the Democratic Party headquarters in the Watergate office complex. Newspapers soon revealed that one of the burglars worked for the President Richard Nixons re-election organization. The presidents aides moved to cover up their involvement in the break-in and distance the president from the crime. Eventually, the courts, Congress, and reporters unraveled the truth. After being found to have committed crimes, Nixon resigned as president of the United States.

Not knowing much about politics, this is a good, simple summary of the timeline of the Watergate scandal and downfall of the Nixon administration. That being said, however, it is very surface-level in it's information, so you won't learn much about the complexities of the government and this event's impact on our government and political systems. This book is really just a recounting of what happened, and is also clearly written for a younger audience. This, again, is fine. I'm just saying that I didn't learn anything new.
