Sometimes yes means no and no means yes. Especially when the question that's answered is sex. Mind versus body, flesh against the spirit. What's necessity and what's just a habit? He loves me, she loves me not. She wanted protection, he said he forgot. Ooo baby I like it raw. The child they see now, they wish they saw. Life altering decisions come, when bodies make life altering collisions to cum. All Shantel wants is to love Zaire. All Zaire wants is to be a good man. All Derrick wants is to find love. These three friends find out that when you bring the hurt from the past into your present, you damage your future. They have all fallen, but who will catch who "When No Means Yes".
Derrick Johnson and Zaire Jones are best friends, college roommates and football teammates. Derek loves the women and the women love Derek. However, there is one woman that has caught his eye, but that woman is completely and totally off limits.
Zaire, on the other hand, is a former ho. Dubbed Ray J Benet by all his friends, Zaire has turned in his ho card and is in love and faithfully committed to one Shantel Davis.
Shantel still can’t believe that Zaire Jones, the man on campus and star of the football team, is all hers. Practically every woman on campus has had him or wants him, but he’s all Shantel’s. Knowing Zaire ’s past she can’t help but feel insecure and doubtful at times.
As the school year progresses, drama unfolds, friendships are tested and truths uncovered.
“When No Means Yes” started off a little slow for me with no real direction. But as the story progressed and things began to fall into play, it was hard to put down. It also possesses a slight comedic edge. Even a good story, however, couldn’t take away the obvious. Disappointingly, “When No Means Yes” shows absolutely no sign of an editor. There is no reason for a book to be published in this state. As an author, if you don’t take your craft seriously, please don’t expect readers to take you seriously. Howard could also use the assistance of a developmental editor to better develop his plot and characters. I see the potential with this author and I’d hate to see it go to waste without the proper guidance.
Also, not one for sequels, I found the character Zaire to be quite interesting and I look forward to his return.
