Tells characteristics of shamanism in general across cultures, for example, the altering of consciousness, the journey into a non-ordinary reality that is similar to the reality found in dreams and myths, the development of ongoing relationships with helping spirits, including the spirits of animals, the land, the dead, or sacred beings of established religion, and the healing practices of spirit extraction, power restoration, soul retrieval, and ritual.
