Celtic Cross Stitch Designs

Rate this book
With more than 100 traditional Celtic themes—knots, spirals, braids, animals, plants, artifacts, and lettering—plus projects for a series of attractive household items, this manual is an embroiderer’s delight. Making this celebration of color, texture, and needlework easy to utilize are wonderfully helpful charts, technical advice, and photographs. Embroider a cushion with four knotwork variations; a “Stanwick Man,” taken from a bronze horse-head mount found in Yorkshire; towels; cards; and more.

I wanted to love this book, and it was my first introduction to cross stitch, so I owe it that. However, I much prefer my cross stitch patterns to have symbols, so I can highlight portions as I complete them. This book is entirely colored-in squares.

So not my cup of tea.

This book is fabulous. There are a lot of patterns that can be incorporated into my knitting, but do I really want to do intarsia? Ugh!
