One of the many incredible characters of history that I will never get to meet. I’m so glad I randomly picked up this book about Maggie…..but I am bitter that I can feel so close to her while being so far away. An icon and a trailblazer.
*Taking off points because some of this author’s (not Maggie’s) writing was obtuse and just not fully there
There were many things in this book that were [citation needed]. Unfortunately this book doesn't indicate sources very well. Clearly the author either interviewed many people or read a ton of unpublished manuscripts. (Or made things up, but I'm not getting that vibe.) But she doesn't list any interviews or unpublished MSS, only books and newspaper and magazine articles.
That's the main reason I'm giving it two stars. It was a decent read but not stellar. There was a little too much lionizing of the subject. But I did enjoy reading about Higgins's experiences.
