Nearly one million people have been touched by the stories in the first edition of Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul. Now this second edition ministers to millionsmore! Men and women become nurses because they want to make a difference in the lives of others through the use of their compassionate skills and hard work. Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul, Second Dose, underscores why nurses enter the profession . . . and why they stay. This collection of true stories encourages, uplifts, and honors nurses; reenergizing them with hope, health, and healing during challenging times. Through laughter and tears, nurses share their memories and tales, inspiring and honoring one another as they continue their journey. You will be moved by the heartwarming revelations of nurses who have just started out in the field, as well as by veteran nurses who share their experiences of making a difference in the lives of their patients.

It always seems that about halfway through the semester, I need a reminder of why I want to go into nursing. And this book did not disappoint.
I cried during the stories. I laughed. I sat back and thought about the impact we can make as nurses.
I liked that there was a variety of stories and a variety of perspectives. It's sometimes nice to hear from patients rather than only from other nurses.
Overall, this book was just what I needed as I gear up for my last seven weeks of nursing school.
Wow! I found this to be surprisingly moving, poignant and heartening. A great read for any nurse, whether "seasoned" like this one (20+ years) or fresh out of school! It is truly lovely. ☺️
I really enjoyed this book so much. All of the stories shared touches the heart for sure. I have worked in private care and in skilled living myself and I treated all of my patients like family. There are so many beautiful true stories in this field for sure. I have a cousin and a friend who both are RNs and another friend who is an LPN. My mother in law served for years as a Nurse's Aid. It is definitely a field of giving. Chicken Soup is the perfect titles for these books and even the name is comforting. Thanks to everyone who shared stories in this book and for the people who wrote and published them. I think all of the books in this series should be read and cherished.
I love reading Chicken Soup books at the gym before work and this one didn't disappoint. Working in the medical field, I was excited to see that there was a second volume for nurses, though I am not a nurse myself. This volume covers a wide range of nursing roles, from military nurses to hospice nurses to school nurses as well as a wide range of emotions. While there weren't a whole lot of humorous stories, not unexpected for the subject matter, there were definitely some that made me smile in a heartwarming way. Likewise, there were definitely many stories which brought a tear to my eye. If you are a nurse or know one, I highly recommend this book, as it is a reminder of all the wonderful things these men and women do when others are at their most vulnerable.
This volume contains the tell-all experiences of nurses, from rookies to experts and it also covers a wide range of nursing roles from school nurse to hospice nurse as well as the experiences of patients themselves.
This book brought tears to eyes. Every pain is familiar and palpable. A dying patient. A newborn with extreme medical condition. Vehicular accidents. Patients with Cancer. Stories about hope, love and life. Somehow, I see right through them.
I'm a registered nurse and this book is the story of my life. :)
One of those midnight reads. A lot of stories about pregnancy and young children which seemed to make up the bulk of many chapters. Would have liked to see a few stories on chronic illness in there but perhaps that's reserved for another book? A good read for people who need inspiration in times of sickness and suffering.
I enjoy the short experience stories of this book. As a nurse, I relate to many of their experiences, so it brings back some good memories. There are some experiences that are funny but mostly very heart warming.
I think what I have read was the 'first dose'. Nonetheless, I love the stories and the quotations before the beginning of each story. I like to read and to listen to stories about love, survival, hope etc..
Loved this book and all the stories. At the time of writing this review, I am a nursing student and all these stories confirmed the many reasons why I chose to become a nurse. Some made me cry, all made me smile. I hope there will be a 3rd dose!
Wonderful stories about Nursing. This book has stories told from Nursing perspective and patient perspective. Tissue alert for some of the stories! Refreshing read!
