About the author

Colin Hawkins (1945) was born in Blackpool, England, and won a scholarship to art school at the age of thirteen. He and his wife, Jacqui Hawkins, produced their first children’s book, Witches, in 1981 and over one hundred titles have followed since then.

I brought my son to story time and afterwards I said, "Go pick out ONE book. Any book you want!" Much to my chagrin, he picked out Zug the Bug. He's still a bit too young to really be putting words together, and since there isn't much to the story, we read it once and then he was done with it. In another year or two, I am sure we will revisit this series. For what it's meant to do, it's a good book.

I have this in a big book that I read to my kindergarteners when I am introducing the "ug" word family. Each page changes the onset to the word. The children enjoy the illustrations and large print.
