The world's most fascinating gods and goddesses come to life in the pages of this beautifully illustrated book. "The Mythology Bible" explores the powerful figures that have compelled us for millennia--including Indra, god of thunder in India's Rig Vedas; Thor, the merciless Nordic giant-slayer; and Mawu-Lisa, whom the African Fon people associate with fertility and compassion. Discover, too, the enduring themes that loom large in the myths of almost every culture: creation and the cosmos, beasts and monsters, death and the underworld, love and heroism.Filled with photographs and pictures, this volume is as attractive as it is readable.

I got into this a while ago, but have come back to it for some research. I've enjoyed it and I like how the sections are fairly easily digestible, will tell you what you need to know about a wide variety of myths and culture. I felt it gives enough information to encourage you to look further into some myths and deities, and also nurtures further thought and is interesting enough to promote doing more research into some of the ideas presented, which isn't always the case for me reading non-fiction so I appreciate that quality.
The book I decided to read is called ‘The Mythology Bible’. It is a nonfiction book written by Sarah Bartlett. I had borrowed this book a long time ago so that I could read some nonfiction if I wanted to but I only started reading it during the break. The book has a lot of information on different religious gods and also a timeline showing when each religion came to be. The start of the book even has some general information on keywords associated with religions such as ‘symbol’. It also gives some information on the Sun which is a key aspect in many religions. This book isn’t one that I would usually pick up which made it not that exciting for me to read it but I thoroughly enjoyed the book because it let me expand my knowledge of religions and gods. I think this is an excellent book that can be used to find information for school material such as an essay or presentation. This book definitely won’t be interesting for people younger than me so I think the recommended reading age is 14 and above. I would rate this book a 6/10.
took too long to read it only made it like 100 pages in had to give it back to the library. from what i did read it was way too general and lacked a lot of detail so whatever
I have read a different version of this book, and still enjoyed this one. I love mythology and everything about it. I also like that this one was not like the other one where the concentration was only on Western and Egyptian mythology, mostly. This one broke up alot more. Although I do suggest reading previous version, because it is more detailed on some of the things.
Some parts were written like a Simple English Wikipedia article, which lowered the rating to 3.5/5. But other than that, it offers a wide variety of mythologies from common ones (Egyptian, Greek, etc) to rarer ones (Native American, Polynesian, etc) and unique art to go with it so there's bound to be something you like.
Fascinating book for anyone interested in mythology - includes your 'standard' mythos' (e.g Norse, Egyptian, Greek) , but also covers some more exotic ones such as Native American, African. The interior artwork is exceptionally colourful and high-resolution and complements the text perfectly. Well worth a purchase for any mythology enthusiast!
I love the Godsfield Bible collection! I've got a few more in mind that I would love to get (Fairies, Spells etc.). I love History and Mythology and this was perfect. It covered all cultures, which was brilliant and interesting to read.
