Golf's Greatest Championship: The 1960 U.S. Open

Rate this book
The 1960 U.S. Open Golf Championship played in Denver, Colorado remains perhaps the most dramatic, competitive, and passionate of all Open championships. In 1960 the young lions of the game were eager to reach the top tier occupied by venerable players such as Ben Hogan and Sam Snead. In this Open only a single stroke separated the three leaders: Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer, and a young but talented amateur named Jack Nicklaus on the final two holes.

A super sports story and one of the best books about golf. It details the 1960 US Open, where Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus battled down to the wire. Well written, four stars.

Full disclosure here: the author is a friend of mine. But I devoura lot of sports books, and this is one of the most enjoyable I have read in recent years. A quick read, good blend of sport and personality. I rarely read a book more than once, but this will be a repeat this summer. Sit by the pool, open a cold drink, and enjoy.
