this book served to clarify many of the connections i've started to make between the history of racism (and organized racist violence) in america and the american history of christian nationalism. what i never realized was how direct and overt the ties between the KKK and the christian nationalist worldview were, especially in some southern baptist churches. the author's story is one i found incredibly compelling, and one that brings me some hope that this country may find its way through the turbulent political waters in which we now find ourselves faced with navigating.
