Alexander Kent is the pen name of Douglas Reeman. An experienced sailor who obviously loves the sea including it's ever present danger. Richard Bolitho his 18-19th century hero is the embodiment of real Naval heroes like the immortal Nelson who appears as an aside throughout the series as a contemporary of the protagonist.

I've read 16 books in this series so far and it is amazing how they continue to entertain with Kent's superb attention to detail and his intense action sequences. A must read for all C.S. Forester (Horatio Hornblower) aficionados.
