A Shifter, A Vampire and A Demon walk into a bar

Shifting Reality, Book 1

Thomas Lyons is your average cat shifter. Cool, seductive and bored out of his mind. With the new popularity of all things paranormal, he doesn t see why he should hide anymore. When his half-demon technophile roommate hooks him up with a computer, Thomas starts a blog announcing to the world who and what he is. Oddly enough, the more he shares, the less he s believed. In fact, people begin thinking it s a new online series with fantastic effects.

Margo Sheffield doesn t dance on tables anymore, not since her reckless naivete cost her so much. These days, her only guilty pleasures are dark chocolate, shoes and a certain website with a man whose purring voice sends shivers down her spine. When the show, Shifting Reality, offers a week in a haunted Scottish castle with the stars, it seems a far-off dream. But when that dream becomes reality, her boss s insistence that she mix business with pleasure or else is more like a nightmare.

Thomas s focus on the show is blown by the luscious, camera-shy handful. And Margo can barely think about contracts when she s surrounded by newlywed ghost hunters, a matchmaking demon and a man whose addictive touch makes her head spin. A showmance is the last thing she needs, but with a sexy cat like Thomas on the prowl she just can t resist."

I'd had this on my to read list for ages before I finally got round to picking it up. I wasn't expecting much,I thought it would most likely be a clichéd cheese-fest (and let's be honest - that cover is naff).

But I really enjoyed this. It had just enough of a storyline for such a short book; it was sexy, but without it being all about the sex; it was funny and it had a small bit of angst sprinkled on top too. The glimpses you get of Mac and Saint make you want to read the next books in the series too.

So why not 5 stars? Well, there were a few little niggles that stopped me from giving this top marks and I wanted more. It could have easily been a longer read without it getting boring.

My Shifter Showmance is the story of Thomas Lyons, a lion shifter. When his roommates finally have enough of Thomas's brooding about being forced to hide who and what he is, Saint- the most entertaining, loveable, and wickedly hilarious half demon I've ever met- shoves a laptop into his hands and points to the webcam.

Tadah! Shifting Reality is born, a site dedicated to the telling of the lives of Thomas, Saint, and their housemate, Mac, the loner vampire.

Soon enough, the site is forwarded to Margo, who is instantly enthralled by the Tomcat on the screen. Conversation flows, and she just as quickly becomes Thomas's favorite poster.

What next? An elaborate scheme revolving around a week in a Scotland castle.

This one was oh-so-good. It's a quick read, so don't expect anything too complex or deep. Just a fun, hot, ride.

I loved this series of shorts, featuring three roomates; a vampire; Mac, a shifter; Thomas, and a demon; Saint, who have had enough of anonymity and start a blog that suddenly goes viral.

Of course, the world doesn't believe they're the real deal, so to convince them, a group of fans are invited to Mac's old castle in England for a week of fun and games. Whoever still remains after a week, is the winner. One of the contestants is Margo, a woman who's got the hots for the sexy Thomas Lyons (guess what kind of shifter he is.)Her boss wants to secure a contract with the bloggers, (un)fortunately for Margo, Thomas has got other, more ... permanent plans for the intriguing female;-)

I love the men R.G. Alexander have created here. They are HOT, not to mention, funny! My personal favorite is the computer geek, Saint. As for Thomas and Margos' story, it was new, funny and very steamy. If I had one complaint about this book, it would be the length. Yes, it's short, and you can read it in one sitting. That being said, it is still easily worth 5 stars.

He's gotten home that night railing at the Fates, going on and on until Saint had walked out of the room and brought him one of his extra computers. He'd shown him how to use the webcam and how to start a blog...It was like catnip. He'd begun to talk into the camera and, like a sinner at confession, it had all poured out.
Cute easy read. Story about 3 paranormal roommates: a cat shifter—Thomas; a vampire—Mac; and a half demon—Saint. Story is mainly about Thomas who owns a blog called, Shifting Reality. He gets fed up with the humans for not believing him, and decides to make a tv show...sorta can you last the night if you can, thing.
9 people are chosen and transported to Mac's haunted castle were they have to last 7 nights. Overall it was an interesting and unique read. Looking forward to reading the next book!

As I've mentioned in past reviews, I'm not a fan of 'love in 24hrs'. It's just not my forte. However, I knew it could end up a part of the deal with this paranormal romance.

This book was written beautifully and took you on a 'paranormal reality internet show'. The premise was fantastic: Production Company assistant thrown into her guilty pleasure, the internet reality show sensation "Shifting Reality". Margo, our heroine, is thrown into the most real week of her life.

R.G.'s characters are believable and fun. And while werelion Thomas was a good time, Saint had me swooning. Ah my beautiful demon! Swoon.

My Shifter Showmance was a fun easy addictive read, which kept me smiling and swooning.

This book gets my utmost backing and support. I give it 1 vampire, 1 were lion, 1 half demon, and a whole caste of good time.

Another sexy story about paranormal things and how to find them. Margo Sheffield has found a website that she is totally addicted to so when there is an announcement that 8 fans will be selected to join the three male characters at a Scottish castle, all expenses paid, she applies. Little does she know that the whole week is a set up by one of the characters just to entice Margo. Thomas is a cat shifter and he has his claws out for Margo. He knows no other way to reach her to see if his feelings are real and that maybe she will find him attractive. Well, it is an intriguing story with demons, vampires, ghosts and humans all spending time in a Scottish castle. It is entertaining and has some very hot sex. I stored it under shifters and erotica. Hope books 2 and 3 are as good.

This book was okay to read. I like the fact that in today's time in the book shifters were willing to show who they were and people didn't want to believe what they were really about. It was also good that two people feel for each other and haven't even met each other yet. But with a demon who can sense who someone is and what they are all about doesn't come in handy. But to keep things from someone is dishonest. And that is what the tomcat did to her. They shared a lot and fell in love with each other. When he marked her I thought he would go after her but he gave her some space and then came to her when he got his mission done. Which was so nice of him. And his friends even helped out in the long run. So the book was very good to read. Only 3 stars.

Shifting Reality #1
Thomas Lyons, enigmatic lion shifter and all-around smart ass is tired of hiding who he is and what he is just to blend in with humans. So, with a little help from his friends, he starts a Vlog to rant which eventually turns into an Internet sensation! When a "Shifting Reality" contest is proposed, Thomas runs with the idea in the hopes of getting a little personal, one-on-one time with his favorite fan, Margo Sheffield a.k.a. Kittysnapdragon. Will our reality star get his showmance? Or will he find more with the voluptuous Margo? You'll just have to read to find out… Enjoy!

Very entertaining, but way too short.

Very short and smutty. It's basically insta love between the two characters and not much else goes besides them banging. Subplots isnt explored much which is a shame bc a suspicion vampire hunter and a haunted scottish castle makes for a great setting.

Ultimately gave it one star because I hated Thomas touching Margo without her consent. Plus he peeps on her in the shower in the very beginning which just ruined the novel for me in the beginning. Soulmates or not that's wrong.

Originally I wanted to continue with this series to get to Saint's story but I dont know if I will :(

Very Good!

Once I started this book I didn’t want to put it down.

Thomas Lyons is the star & he is truly a lion shifter; Margo got interested in Thomas when she 1st watched his vlog. Then when he announced that he was having a contest she didn’t think that she would win but, she did; along with some other people.

To find out what happens you’ll have to read the book.

Great short story

I didn't want it to end. This could have been a full length novel easily. It's very fast paced and with very likeable characters.

I am rereading some of the books I read in spring and summer 2019 so I can finally write up reviews for them.

This hot little novella is a moment stuck in time, thanks to the situation and very specific references given in it. If you remember the 2008 writer's strike and the web series creative projects that were born because of it, then you'll have a good frame of reference for this one.

After one too many accidental reveals of his shift to humans that ends in having to douse her in pheromones to get "drunk," lion shifter Thomas "Tomcat" Lyons has had it. His half-demon roommate, Saint, gives him a computer with a webcam, and he starts a vlog/web show about being a shifter, at first ranting into the void and transitioning into a diary of sorts as his popularity increases. He, Saint, and their vampire roomie, Mac, are now all internet sensations, complete with rabid fangirls and their own forums. While the Tomcat has always been happy to play the field (and bragged about it excessively on his videocast), he's become obsessed with one forum user in particular, Kittysnapdragon, and he and his cat really want to meet her. So he devises a plan to make her come to him.

One of Margo's guilty pleasures is Shifting Reality, a webshow a friend clued her into that she obsessively watches. All of the guys are drool-worthy, but she's especially into Thomas, a man who pretends to be an animal shifter. She thinks the whole show is really well done and is impressed, but her favorite times are in the forums after the show when Tomcat messages her on the sly to flirt with her. When his latest video entry details a contest and seems to be calling her out by name Here kitty, kitty. You know you wanna play, she goes against her better judgment and enters. She'll never live with herself if she doesn't, and there's no way she'll be one of the 8 people chosen to win an all-expenses paid trip to Scotland to spend a week with the boys.

Until she wins. And her boss sends her on a mission to get the guys to sign contracts to sell rights to their studio to make a movie based on Tomcat's weblogs, or else she can kiss her job goodbye. What's a camera-shy woman to do? And when her wild child tendencies rear their head again, busting through her hard fought for control, can she get a handle on it?

This is a very fun, smutty read, but I wish there were more of it. It moves at a shifter's fated mates pace, and is over before you know it.

--------------
Sadly, I did need to tag this one for my Problematic shelf for dead-naming and misgendering a trans person and making some transphobic comments. It's a fairly minor and quick plot point, but I wanted to give a heads up that it's there. Yes, this was written in 2010 when that wouldn't have raised as many eyebrows, but it definitely hasn't aged well and really doesn't need to be in there.

Originally reviewed on These Pretty Words.

I have such love for R.G. Alexander and her quirky little novellas. Always hot, always funny…always just enough to get you through a quiet Saturday night. And My Shifter Showmance did not disappoint.

Margo is a buttoned up office girl, though there’s a bit of naughtiness in her past. She’s fallen into lust with Thomas, the supposed lion-shifting star of an internet vlog. She’s thrown completely out of her element when she wins a contest to spend a week in Scotland with the stars of the vlog.

Thomas is the object of her obsession. Lion-shifter, smart ass, cocky bad boy – you know the type. The book opens with Thomas discussing the vlog with his roommates – a vampire and a half-demon. What I love about R.G.’s writing is how she can create characters that are real to the reader. From the first page, I had a picture and a voice in my head for Thomas…long before she actually described him. And good lord her description of the man.

Smart as a whip, kinky enough to own one, and so openly unapologetically sexual that you could almost believe he was what he claimed to be. Namely, a genuine non-human cat shifter.

How can you not simply adore that description?

I give this novella four stars. The plot is well-thought out, the characters strong and the overall pacing of the novella pure perfection. My Shifter Showmance is a quick read – a little novella filled to the brim with laughs and heat. I’ll definitely be picking up the next in the series.

I loved this book! Thomas Lyons is super yummy and the whole I idea of a guy who makes himself a vlogger based on the paranormal challenged society he has been made to conform to made for a great deal of funny. I loved Saint and Mac and I thought that the world that Alexander created was one of the funnest that I've read about in a supernatural/paranormal genre.

So Thomas Lyons has made himself an internet celebrity and has been driving his roommates crazy because he has managed to let his hobby spell into their lives as well. Fed up with the world thinking that he is making up being a shifter he convinces his roommates to let him arrange a week with his fans to show them that he isn't all talk. Hilarity ensues.

I usually don't really dig the two people meet and fall immediately in love thing but I always let it slide for the lore of shifter mates. Although I felt a little like he was a bit too handsy with her upon their first face to face meeting I kind of thought his approach and perseverence endeared him to me. I really liked Margo and the way she kept the idea that the week with him was more or less a fantasy come true. I might have had a real bug up my butt if it was set up that she fell at his feet and the HEA was an easy given.

A shifter, a demon, and a vamp share a video blog where they 'come out' to humanity. However, the more they share, the less they are believed and everyone just thinks it's a really top of the line web series, including Hollywood executive and fan, Margo. A contest to meet the super sexy bloggers puts Margo face to face with the reality of her very naughty fantasies.

I really wanted to like this more. The idea is quite clever but unfortunately it is so rushed that it falls short. We really don't get a chance to know the characters before they are banging in the pantry. Then all of a sudden the story jumps forward and even more of the 'story' is sacrificed in order to fit in more sex scenes.

It's a cute concept and short story with hot shifter sex but it could have been so much more. I rec it as something short and smutty with a cute concept. It's pleasing if you really don't expect much and have had a glass or two of wine.

I loved the premise, I loved the characters. I loved all of it... Except the length. It was too short! I wanted more. More of the characters, more interactions, more intrigue, more sex, more, more, more. I'm not greedy or anything. :) Seriously, I'm a huge R.G. fan, really. And she writes so well. This book was enjoyable to read. I just think it could have been developed into an even longer novel.

I know, it's not a great review. But I don't have much else critical to say. Strong female lead, hot, feline male lead who goes after the woman he wants, is aggressive and knows how to pleasure her. A little bit of angst, some great secondary characters I want to know more about. The plot moved along, and then it was just over. I'm sure if it were longer, I'd have loved it more and given it 5 stars. :)

I liked this. A bit more than the 3 star rating, but not quite a 4. I liked the three guys, the roomates, Vamp, Demon and Shifter. All doing a reality blog show. I guess I am not rating this better, because I wish it was longer. Margo went on the seven day challenge, and then poof we went from day 1 to day 5. I thought there could have been so much more about the day to day. How they were trying to spook or challenge the guests, and then more on the relationship between Margo and Thomas. I was missing all of that. I felt like maybe this was just the cliffnotes for another book. Oh, well. Deifinitley enjoyable.

I presume you know what the book is about. I'm letting you know what I liked or disliked about it.

The concept of this book is fresh and it was fun to read. A cast of many characters were introduced and the potential to add to the story is perfect. I hope RGA capitalizes on it.

As it is I liked the book, see the potential, but overall this particular story was just okay. The stand out of it was the groundwork prepared for more work. I'd like to see more smut (but, well - that's because I'm a smut slut :)

Love Love Love! For under 100 pages this had a lot of variety in it. Not only did I get all warm and fuzzy over it, but at times I couldn't help but laugh at a number of lines(because they were genuinely funny not absurd). I can't wait to read the next one, My Demon Saint!

Kind of stalkery on both sides, what with the voyeurism, tracking-down, hidden cameras and whatnot--but I'm not sure how that could've been helped given the set-up (a web-based reality show starring the supernatural hero [and his superfriends, who will, of course, get their own stories later]). Imagining Aidan Turner as the hero (despite the occasional reminder that the guy's meant to be tawny and leonine)--yeah, that helped.

This was a very interesting book. Not much to go on from the description accept for guy is shifter wanting to meet human girl. that's about all I got out of the description. After reading the book there was so much more unspoken in the book. even for a short book I was really into it could feel the characters feelings project through to me. so all in all the 5 stars are well earned. hope all you guys like it also.
