This book was a beautiful companion on my Lenten Journey.

Every day started with a prayer and ended with a suggested penance.

"Penance is any act or a set of actions done out of repentance for sins committed" (I found this definition while doing a google search. Doing penance is NOT a punishment, but an opportunity.

On Ash Wednesday, the suggested penance was:

"Offer your Ash Wednesday fasting for all who are ensnared by sin."

For those penances I chose to do, I found them a joy, not a burden.

The Magnificat Lenten Companion has been my inspirational, spiritual guide and devotional for many years. It contains Scripture reading and meditations throughout Lent, including prayers for Holy Week and Stations of the Cross. Each daily meditation is provided by a different contributor, including a timely suggestion for penance and outreach.

GREAT COMPANION

The Magnificat series is always good, and this is no exception. Daily readings cover all of the Lenton season. In the back are many hymns and devotional readings. A great resource.
