By the time I realized they were the boys I loved as a teen, it was too late. For the second time, an explosion changed the course of my life in the blink of an eye. I don’t know if The Five are dead, captured, or hiding. What I do know is the shadowy client intent on conquering the criminal underworld by killing off competition will pay for daring to take what is mine. Happy dance! Ruthless is here and it was freaking everything. I've been dying to get my hands on the second book in the Villians and Vixens series and the wait was worth it. Cass brought it.

Is it me or is Remy crazier than I remember? Her thought process is wild but I love her. Speaking of love, Remy's emotions are coming to the surface and the results are interesting. I love that she and Lys are bffs now. She's gotten closer to the little thief and they've actually formed a friendship. Lys needs some work but she isn't the hindrance she could have been. She makes Remy more human.

I have a theory. All of Cass's series are set in the same world and she likes to leave us readers little Easter eggs all over the place (there were a fair amount in this one) which means the supernatural exists right alongside the regular world they are just unaware. My theory Remy isn't human. It would explain so much. I know this isn't the case, Cass has said so but, I think she might have been mistaken.

The guys are having some come-to-Jesus moments. It's interesting seeing not only their take on the past but seeing them out of their element has been real enlightening. Coda surprised me the most while Dwryn has endured me to him the most. Gotta love the crazies. Heck, that's why I'm rooting for Remy and her guys in the first place.

This book was plot, plot, plot. I usually like some steam with my plot but Cass blew this book out of the water, I didn't even miss the steam. I wanna really get into this story but anything could be spoilers. What I can say is that along with Cass's trademark humor and pop culture references we were world traipsing, there was a black market, heists, a little bit of torture, hacking, and more. All that was the result of a bigger mystery that rattles my brain. I couldn't figure out what was going on and it was driving me crazy. To say I was riveted is an understatement.

Cass lives to torture us with this series, the slow-burn romance and increasing intrigue. Seriously, wtf is going on? There are clues but I still can't figure it out. Looks like Cass has a thing for dramatic cliffhangers because here's another one. Ruthless was superb but I'm greedy as heck and I want more, especially that ending. I am beyond ready to get Wicked.

Interesting developments
This second book of the series certainly forces Remy to look at those pesky feeling she has for the guys and admit she has some form of possessiveness over them….whether that’s to kill, maim or just fuggs is still to be determined 😳
I do love her friendship with Lys who’s forcing Remy to acknowledge she’s actually human and the best friendship that develops between them is highly amusing! This book certainly demonstrates Remy’s character growth ☺️
In line with the plot we only get a pov from three of the five men as Remy has to pick herself up from the last cliffhanger and go in search of The Five to get their asses back together. She finds herself in some right scrapes along the way of her hunt but you get to see her sheer bad-buttery in action and what a legend she is to others 💪💀 she’s going to need everything she’s got to go against this mysterious ‘voice’ who always seems to be one step ahead 😦
There’s barely any seggs in this one but it is fitting to the story line! I found it a tad slow in places but still suspenseful and gripping… Will Remy mange to get everyone together in the next book?

Frustrating!! There were a lot of words on the page but not a whole lot actually happened until about 70% in.

We still know very little about the Shadow Do*che running the show and as before, the big reunion took place in the final 5% so there's still not been much interaction between the main players.

Despite these criticisms, I'm still a fan of this series, I'm just desperately hoping the next books have a bit more payoff.

I was really excited for book 2 in this series and I still think the series has potential I just felt like this one didn't move along/had a lot of repetitiveness so it made for a not as exciting sequel. Also with how the book was formatted and all the time jumps, it made listening difficult because things were added to help the flow/bridge the gap.

I was glad to see things finally move along by the end of the book and Remy get time with one of the guys she didn't hook up with in book 1 again. I did like the dynamic between her and Lys, and how she would put her in her place and Remy has to understand what it means to have a friend haha. I also loved some of the guys who seem sorta crazy or have hard exteriors and get more of their POVs and see how much of a cinnamon roll they are haha and how much they love Remy and are excited/determined to have more time with her again now that they found her. I am intrigued to the character(s) we didn't hear from all book. Like what happened there?!? I know the author hasn't written the next book but I feel like she will need at least 2 more to get them back together, have their dynamics improved, and then go after the person who keeps trying to kill them.

Narration was good, I liked it like I did last time. We get more side characters and trying to navigate those normally would be hard but the narration performances didn't lack at all. I thought she did a particular good job with the annoying young daughter charge she was supposed to be protecting and making her personality/persona come easily to life.

Overall I think the author needed to make this book a little longer to help balance out a lot of the exposition, internal monologue, and the non-action scenes. There were chapters where pretty much nothing happened and we didn't get details to help move the plot/help answer questions. Just felt like we could have cut some and added more impactful chapters and this would have been a 4 or a 5 stars. Book 1 was really good so this did feel like a letdown a little.

I am going to still stick with the series, I am 100% invested and want to see the antics the groups into and how they solve their problems and reconnect. The sexy times in book 1 were fab and hope we get more of that in book 3 since book 2 was mostly them apart so not a lot of those times happening. AND would love to see more MM btw, hopefully we get more of that in future books.

This is my first series by this author, and I am sold!!! This book was everything. I absolutely love books like this where the author clearly has to do a lot of research to make it look like they know what they are talking about. (Unless Ms Featherstone is an undercover spy, moonlighting as an author) Hmm... You never know, maybe it can happen.

This book takes off shortly after book one. Remy is being held captured, but only because she is allowing it. Trying to find more information on who the Shadow man is and who has her guys. They were all separated after the blast at the zoo, and something is amiss.

Suddenly - big players are changing the way the criminal world is running. There's something big coming and EVERYONE is invited. Could this be where she finds the infamous 5? Raz, Dwyn, Jinx, Mo, Coda are definitely in for it if they're hiding from her. But is anywhere truly safe from the deadly Guillotine?

Remy is such an amazing character and with the help of Lys, they've quickly become the ultimate duo. Jumping through hoops with multiple disguises, meeting marcs and thieving the ultimate prize, they are invited to the party where they know a trap of sorts awaits. Ranks will be thinning and soon, war is brewing.

When Remy is finally reunited with some of her guys, we are left with a "that's way too easy feeling," and quickly the author lets us know we are right. The ending seemed to come up way too fast and I was absolutely enthralled with this read. I did not want it to end, and I am so ready for book three. This book was definitely worth the wait!

*Overall 5/5
*Heat? 2/5
*Slow Burn
*Multiple first person POV
*Ends on cliffhanger

“Ruthless” is the second book in the “Villains and Vixens” series, and I honestly enjoyed how this book took an entirely different path compared to most second books in a series. Ruthless isn’t focused on relationship building at all, meaning there is also less spice (something the author mentions multiple times herself), but it makes complete sense for the storyline. And I believe we are given something awesome instead; Remy on a warpath to get to the guys she unconsciously claimed as hers.

I said it in my review for book one, and I’ll probably keep saying it with every new book that’s released in this series, but Dwyn is my dreamguy. Even though I already gathered an entire harem of psychos as my fictional boyfriends, he managed to make it to number one quite easily. I don’t know what it says about me, but the chapters in his POV always put a smile on my face.

Last but not least, I feel it’s important to mention the beautiful friendship between Lys and our badass fmc. These are epic friendship goals, and I believe we all need a friend like Lys who supports her friend no matter what, while also telling her frankly how she’s being an idiot at times.

So yeah, this was a great second book, and I can’t wait to find out what will happen next!

Ruthless is here to continue Remy and the guys' story! The band is back together again! Wait! Wait...no...nope...got that wrong. After the ending of book one, we all know that's a lie. LOL! Nope, another explosion has once again rocked Remy's life, but this time...it's caught the Five in its grip, too. Now what? Well, Remy is going to have a lot on her hands finding out whether they are dead or alive and creating a plan of attack on the "mysterious" man who set it all up.
The good news? She's not going to be taking this task on alone! Brace yourself...Lys is about to be hitting the scene! Lys is great! I like Remy, too. Don't get me wrong, but Lys bring a new spark of life to the story. Where the guys are missing for a time, Lys picks up the slack and threatens to carry the story herself. LOL! Of course, Remy won't let that happen, so prepare for a rollercoaster of chaos and drama.
You know how book one ended on a crazy cliffhanger? Well, this author was like "hold my - insert drink of choice" because this is one going to leave you on the verge of raging. LOL! It's okay! We're okay! We've got this...just hang in there. LOL!

Ruthless is the second book in the Villians & Vixens series by Cassandra Featherstone.

💜 bad 🍑 FMC
💜 friend who sticks like glue
💜 multiple mysteries
💜 🌶🌶🌶 spice

Remy is determined. She’s determined to find out who the person is that kept contacting her with contracts like the one one Raz. She’s determined to find the five again, she should be the one to determine their future. Determined to teach her new friend some ins and outs of her craft so they can both make it out of each mission alive. When did everything get so complicated? How many players are out there to get them? Did all of the five guys make it out of the bombing alive?

This book keeps moving from the very first page all of the way to the end. There really isn’t a lull in the book at all. I love how Remy and Lys are both girls who don’t shy away from what needs to be done, but just buckle down and do what they need to do. Like the first book, this one ends on a cliffhanger. I can’t wait until the next installment comes out so I can see what happens next.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "RUTHLESS" This was a nonstop action packed story full of mystery, intrigue, suspense, steam, angst, revenge, danger, twist that make this a very addicting page turner.
Remy thought she'd lost Jinx, Dwyn, Coda, Raz & Mo then they suddenly appear now adults & smoking hot at that, then an explosion happens & she not sure if their dead, captured or hiding, theres a shadowy client trying to kill off any competition in the underworld.
Remy strikes up a great friendship with Lys they make a awesome pair working together to find her Five men she teaches Lys the ins & outs of her craft so they survive what's to come.
I definitely recommend to get this riviting fast paced story, will Remy & Lys find her Five alive did they survive the bombing, will she see them again, it's a must you absolutely must get so so good.
I'm so looking for the next book after that cliffhanger leaving you want more to see what happens next.

This book starts after the cliffhanger from book 1. It's a slow burn as far as romance is concerned but there is so much going on just like in the last book.

Remy is trying to find the guys after everyone scattered. She teams up with Lys who befriended her in book 1 and they make an interesting pair. I enjoyed Lys when she wouldn't take any messing from Remy and told her straight.

There's a lot of character development for Remy as she has to learn how to deal with other people in her life after working on her own for so long.

We still get to see lots of her disguises and how she navigates all her jobs, getting herself in and out of situations. We also follow from a couple of the guy's POV so we can start putting some of the puzzle pieces together a little before Remy does, although she's always many steps ahead of the game.

Something big is going down and Remy needs to figure out what's happening and how herself and the guys fit into the bigger picture.

If you enjoyed book 1 then you'll love book 2. The cliffhanger will definitely make you want book 3 ASAP.

The plot in this series is just oh so juicy! I love the concept of this series, it's unique and really well done. This is the second in the series and we start off shortly after the end of the first book. Things are coming to light. Remy reveals a bit more of herself to the guys. We get to see a lot of character development in this book and it is done really well. This is a slow burn story and I am totally ok with that, especially with these characters, it just fits. They have all experienced so much and the authour does a great job at expressing the emotions of each of the main characters in this book and it just adds to the story, it's just… so good. The relationship between Remy and Lys is growing on me and I am looking forward to seeing that develop more. There is a lot going on in this book and I love how unpredictable this story is!The mystery and drama and the spice is * chefs kiss * The authour has done a fantastic job of captivating their readers! I am loving this series and I am so excited for the next book!

Cassandra warned this would be slow burn, but it makes sense based on plot. 100% correct. I normally love the high spice, and none of that mattered here. I have been completely and utterly sucked into the story of Remy and the 5 boys. Forget the spice, you'll love the characters and action. There is so much back and forth. Real adventure. Actual action. A plot that needs to be slowly unraveled. You'll rack your brains for her Shadowdouche could be. And most likely cringe during the scenes her training prepared her for. This book isn't dark like we often define dark romance, but there are very definitely cruel characters that will make you shudder and shiver as they apply their trades. Halfway through, I no longer cared about anything than unraveling all the pieces, and eagerly hoping and waiting for a glimpse of the men. In a truly appreciated touch, we see Lys step up as a friend, not just a convenient side kick, and the relationship humanizes Remy with some much needed friendship. Please, book 3 quickly?

The Guillotine, the missing part that changed the Six to the current Five, elite criminals for hire, has to face the ghosts of her past again. Barely reconnecting with her former allies and the men she loved, Remy has to survive another explosion that scatters the group - and this time she is determined to get them, regardless of how many obstacles are being in her way. The dark web is now less safe than ever before since she is on the hunt..and not alone.
Violence, gore, brutality, and death rule this story with iron fist, displaying the shady side of the criminal world and the highly demanding environment the pros operate in - including the pain and torture they have to survive. I admire Remy for her mental strength and coping mechanisms even though she is a ruthless killer - yet she also has her own rules, standards, and moral limits. The story is full of suspense, drama, mystery, and action and has the dark allure of the criminal world - perfectly enjoyable and greatly written book.

The Phoenix has risen from the Ashes so better watch out.

I can give you a review on 1st 2 books. When the author says it's slow burn it definelty is very slow burn. Maybe a couple scenes in both books but that's it. I will say the story is very Intriguing and even though it's very slow it's interesting. Now a bit of a spoiler ik she wants the guys but seriously to leave all those people where really sad. And why hadn't we heard from the other 2. I also dont know why she didnt just fly the plane i pretty sure i read she could fly planes. Anyways so far so good. I really want to read the 3rd but unfortunately there is no date on when it will come out posted. The author did a fantastic job on these characters tho. I cant wait til she gets to butt kick them and then love them lol cause you can clearly see it. MO better get on bored lol but isn't there always that 1 that has to be stubborn boy I can't wait for his little butt kicking lol.

Ruthless by Cassandra Featherstone is a dark suspenseful why choose romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Matthew Winchester and Michelle Price. This is the second book in the Villains and Vixens series.

I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved that we got Remy, Coda, Dwyn, Jinx, and Mo's points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The book ended on an amazing cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series Wicked to be announced.

Matthew and Michelle did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you you're looking for a dark romance, contemporary romance, why choose romance, second chance romance or romantic suspense.

Son of a…! (Insert the curse of your choice.) I’m gonna be a snarly, grumpy bear for the next little while as I recover from the cliff that ending just threw me off of. I had sunk so much of my attention into this book that the ending caught me entirely off guard. I’m probably in the minority here, but I may have enjoyed this book even more with the slower burn and reduction in spice. The story was just so stinking incredible I didn’t want anything distracting me from Remy’s revenge. Will this reunion last? Will they even survive that ending? And what about the still-missing members of their band of merry mayhem-makers? In the meantime, I’m quietly nursing a pet theory on who I think is the voice from the shadows and I can’t wait to dig into the next books to find out if I’m even close. I NEED more and I need it NOW!
I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.

Action packed awesomeness!✨

Book two of this exciting series did NOT disappoint 😉. Remy, our fearless FMC is back with a vengeance. There is non stop action and plans of joyful revenge in this gem. With the addition of her new female BFF Lys, we get lots of added comic relief...in a unique, *sometimes* sarcastic/snarky, and unintended way. Watching this strong FMC navigate her emotions, while trying to find/save the lost members of The Five is a ride worth taking. Enter a world where assassins take no prisoners when those they care about are in danger- and have a code of their own. There's definitely lots and LOTS of action, suspense and intrigue within these pages. All centered around a pretty awesome female with more than one known name 😉. Whoever grabbed the guys better watch out....Remy is out for payback. Such an exciting read, and I can't wait for the followup.

In the “Villains and Vixens series, book two, “Ruthless”, starts with Remy trying to piece together what happened after the explosion. I enjoyed reading how Remy continues to show her skill set and her identities along with learning to work with a partner Lys. Remy is learning to allow her close and how they are working well together, both of ladies learning from each other, that is developing into a deep and trusting friendship. Remy set on revenge for the bombing and finding “her men” show another aspect of Remy like a brilliant diamond she has many facets. I enjoyed learning a bit more about each of her five men, their foibles. The unique feature of the “auction' and the elaborated set up of the special merchandise, to the ultimate end of getting rid of two of Remy's identities, meaning her. I hate the cliffhanger, however, it did it's job and has me waiting for the next book.

Ruthless

Remy and her men are back again! This isn't necessarily a love story, and the book doesn't focus on relationship building like I thought it would. Instead, we find Remy on basically a warpath to find her men, find out more about their world, and essentially get them back. It's not official that she's claimed them as hers, but you can't go on a rampage for someone and not claim them. I love how crazy she is and how it plays so well into the story. And I also loved that despite the story not being centered around romantic relationships, you still get a lot of spice.

My only critic is the plot itself had minimal moments where I was surprised or didn't see what was coming next. It was pretty easy to guess how the book would end, even the cliffhanger which was a little disappointing.

Wow oh just wow. The book starts from an epic cliffhanger only to end on another with all the twists and turns in between. I love how Remy’s character develops her relationship with Lys and her self at the same time.

Can Remy get over her past without dying again to save the boys or will it lead to hear final downfall?

I really like how Lys character has developed and how many times Remy thinks to herself that she should have killed her rather than tell her personal information that she used against Remy at later dates.

Loved it hard to put down can’t wait for the next book I need to know what happens after the jumping.

This book picks up a little after book one but dives straight back into things.

Remy meets up with Lys again and they form a kind of friendship even if she thinks Latham she should have killed Lys later on after using information Remy had given against her.

You can tell that something big is coming in this book, and each of the characters, especially Remy are wondering where they fit into everything.

This ends on a cliffhanger just like the last one and it just makes you want the next book straight away.

The romance is still slow burn, but that is made up for with all the disguises and fights Remy gets into while looking for the guys.

Wow hold onto your hats guys because this book drags you through so many twists and turns you could end up with whiplash from it all! Still on a path of will she/wont she get her revenge Remy (FMC) goes deeper into the rabbit hole with the help of her hacker friend Lys (who I just loved with her banter and quick wit) where her alias, her job and the guys - Coda, Dwyn, Raz and Mo are all in danger from outside forces. My word did everything that happen in this book keep me on my toes and with that cliff-hanger ending I'm dying for the next book. This series just keeps getting better and better. I'm enjoying being on the ride.

YEAHHHHH Remy is back! And she has feeling and emotions (ish)! Which is hilarious to read because she doesn't even realise that's what's happening (totally can't relate).
The book picks up a bit after the end of book one and for a long time all we get is Remy's perspective. And why is that? Because after the last book ended with a bang, no one knows who is alive and who isn't, but that doesn't stop Remy from chasing after her (even if she won't admit it) guys.
And as soon as she thinks she's a step ahead.... is she really?
Honestly, all I have been able to think about since reading this book is what happens next, just to realise I've finished so now I have to wait :(

Apologies for such a short review -- in short, this series is turning out to be amazing!
I adore the author for adding a "previously on" portion, but still felt like I couldn't quite remember everything. I also really love it when an author adds a playlist, it helps to set the tone -- and it is a great selection of tunes!
Anyway, back to the book. Lots of pent-up frustrations, new adventures and dangerous situations. I liked the plot, the twists and the overall development in this book. A good and solid set of characters and good world-building make this a great book. It's a rollercoaster of a ride!

Cassandra has delivered another heart pounding, adrenaline inducing masterpiece!!!

As I dive into her amazing globe hopping books, I am starting to see more and more of Muppet's personality in her characters and their personalities in her.

And Remy is no different!! This badass heroine, takes us on another death defying adventure as she confronts the men that helped mold her into the amazing Guillotine!

This adventure leads us on a rescue mission that also leaves us hanging as our fearless badass has to make a split second decision that could lead to her death!

Can't wait for the next book in this series!! Definitely another must have in your collection!!

Remy

3.5*

The narrators did a good job. I was impressed when spoke in the foreign language.

This is the second part of this series, need to read the first and it does end in a cliffhanger. I liked the continuation to this story as not only is Remy looking for who is trying to take her out but she is looking for the five guys she trained with when she was young before she disappeared. It was a bit confusing and I know I will be listening to this again when the next part goes live. Remy has found help and maybe a friendship brewing as she found and makes it her mission to rescue one of her boys. Again not what I was expecting and is told mostly from Remy's POV.

5 Superb Stars

Man, this book—this series—is the crème de la crème of contemporary crime and suspense romance stories. There isn’t a single thing that needs improvement or change; it’s absolutely perfect. I’m practically frothing at the mouth, feral for the next installment.

I didn’t even mind that this book has almost no spice in it. 🤯

The FMC is phenomenal. She’s badass and vicious, the epitome of a cool, stone-cold assassin. I couldn’t have asked for a more awesome lead.

Cassandra Featherstone has firmly cemented her place as one of my favorite authors (though I’ll admit, that one awful series she co-wrote about the “twin” witch and wolf shifters was absolute garbage).

Anyway, anyone who follows my reviews knows I’m stingy as fuck with my five-star ratings. This book deserves every single one of those stars—and more.

So many questions

Remy is such a bada**, she’s partnered up with BFF Lys in her quest to find the douche bag threatening her and finding her five guys.
This story is non stop action as Remy scrambles to stay one step ahead and discover the fate of her ex team.
So glad she’s making inroads into tracking them down, leading to a spicy reunion
Love all the different POV as everyone tries to make sense of what’s happening.
That cliffhanger ending tho, desperately wanting to find out what happens next.

Wow! This second story in the series was so suspenseful and action packed, I loved it! I love the friendship development between Remy and Lys, and it shows how much Remy develops as a character while searching for her guys. I also love getting everyone's views on what is happening, and their takes on it. Coda and Dwyn's thought processes really intrigue me. Did not see that ending coming! I was completely immersed in the story, and WHAM!!! Such a great but epic cliffhanger! Absolutely cannot wait for what comes next!!

Remy's and Lys' unexpected friendship is everything!!! Lys just moved in and took up the snarky BFF position like it was nothing, and refuses to budge or get scared off by Remy's incapability to human. They're both bad@$$es and complement each other perfectly while they're galavanting across the continents to find the Five hotties. What's a little torture for some info, amarite??? Super slow burn, but action packed, and there's still so much to figure out, but the cliffy.... Ouch. We're literally left hanging! Can't wait to see what the gang gets up to next.
