The bestselling author of A High Country Life shares more stories of living in the isolated mountains of New Zealand, plus 70 hearty recipes.
Philippa's much-loved book A High Country Life sprang from her popular Instagram page, 'What's for Smoko'. Full of great stories of living through the seasons on a high country station, it contained stunning images of the beautiful landscape in which Philippa and her family live and farm.
Her second book Winter Warmers includes more fascinating tales from past staff and family who have life-long connections to the land and life on the station. It has even more recipes, with approximately 70 hearty fill-'em-up meals and baking ideas. There's a strong focus on Philippa's favourite kitchen appliance, the magic pot (multicooker), plus methods for stovetop, oven and conventional slow cookers too. It also has lots of no-waste ideas and tips on how to use leftovers to create exciting and inspiring new meals. Complete with incredible photography of life in the high country, this is both a practical guide and a beautiful, aspirational book to browse.
Hey, I'm Philippa Cameron, the author of three Young Adult books. I love reading Young Adult novels. And books from other genres too. Any of them. All of them. Good thing, then, that I'm also a librarian...
I'm the author of three YA contemporary novels, The Day We Are Born, Every Move I Have Made, and However Dark The Night.
In my previous life I was a university lecturer, corrupting young minds in an English and Media Studies Department, as well as a journalist, editor and feature writer. I occasionally write humorous newspaper columns. At least, I think they're funny. So does my brother's mother-in-law.
Last bit about me... In my current life, I have husband who's a geek in denial, two young daughters who have inherited both their parents' love of reading, and two Guinea pigs that appeared in our home while I was away at a conference whose existence I don't acknowledge to my family. The Guinea pigs' existence. Not the conference's. Update: One of the Guineas has gone to Guinea heaven. It wasn't me, I swear.
