Rock Harder #2
Rock God
They call me The Rock God. As lead singer of the multi-platinum selling rock band Onyx Knight, I have a life most people can’t even dream of… until it all becomes a nightmare.
Our bass player dies.
Now we’re tasked with the impossible job of replacing him or hanging it up for good.
On top of the world just shy of my thirtieth birthday, I can’t imagine walking away. Not now. Not from the money, the fame or the women. Half the music industry might be vying for the job, but no one feels right.
Until Devon Cates walks in and blows us away. Especially me.
We all have secrets, and Devon is no exception. I’m determined to find out what hers are, without getting too close. But I can’t seem to stay away.
When the truth comes out, it could be another death spiral for the band… one I’m not sure we can come back from. *Title is a M/F Rock n’ Roll romance filled with steam, angst, and surprises that strike ALL the right chords!

Rock God picks up after Rock Bottom, and introduces us to Carters’ recommended bass player replacement, Devyn Cates.
The band Onyx Knight will go on, but auditions need to happen. We want to know more about this mystery session player Devyn. The band immediately takes to the talented Devyn, but will Devyn, follow childhood dreams of playing in a band or let daemons of the past dictate taking the safe route status quo?
Kinston takes me by surprise in this book, we see his non-rockstar persona. I enjoy the chemistry, a well as the banter of the band. I am looking forward to the next member of Onyx Knight to fall.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

A Great Addition to the Series!!
The Rock Harder series is for all rock romance lovers. After the loss of Carter from the first book, which broke my heart, we find Onyx Knight looking for a new bass player. Devon Cates comes to try out and from the moment that led singer Kingston sees her he and the rest of Onyx Knight knows that there is something special about Devon and her amazing talent.
I love watching how Kingston and Devon navigate the unsure world that they are both heading into with a short tour in the near future. Devon has been burned in the past with her previous boyfriend and band that has her hiding things from her past that she thinks the band won’t be able to deal with and end her chance with the Onyx Knights.
Secrets can and almost always comes back to bite you so will Devon and Kingston’s relationship be able to handle this especially with the media that came their way? I loved their chemistry and the steam that came off the pages with a great storyline. The set up for the next book in this series has me waiting on pins and needles to see how this talented author will spin Kellan and Jesse’s story.

Love this addition to the Rock Harder series. Kingston has been a forever bachelor until he lays eyes on Devon Cates. Kingston can just feel the connection and he knows if anyone can settle him down it will be Devon. Devon on the other hand certainly feels the connection and has a difficult time steering clear of Kingston. Devon is the new Bass player and Kingston is the lead singer in Onyx Knight, Devon would like to prove herself as a musician before getting involved. Love all the characters in these books, past and present. Kingston has a great family and support system. Love this story! Devon is one lucky girl!

I absolutely love the Rock Harder series! Rock God was amazing! I loved Kingston and Devyn’s story! It was an emotional roller coaster ride. I laughed and cried all through the book. I couldn’t put it down. When Devyn’s past tries to interfere in her future will she be able to make it through to the other side? The chemistry between Kingston and Devyn is intense. The rest of the band love Devyn and have her back. Rock God is a fantastic addition to the Rock Harder series!

I really enjoyed this book. Seeing what happens after Carter’s heartbreaking death was great, and I liked the love story. I’d recommend this book.

Three and 1/2 stars for this one. I just couldn't get into this as deep as I did with Rock Bottom. It's still a good story, however, and I will be reading the third book in this series, Rock Steady.

Tropes: Contemporary rockstar romance, celebrity romance, he falls first

First and foremost, I highly recommend reading Rock Bottom, the first book in this series, before beginning Rock God. It wouldn't hold the same emotional impact without it. This band lost a member in such a heartbreaking way, and now they have to push forward. That already begins a painful journey, but it's part of life. Once Devon was introduced, the story quickly grabbed my attention and kept it until the end. I loved all the characters, especially Devon's grandmother, who had me laughing so hard. It brought a welcome break from the angst. The closeness and banter of the band were another favorite. I loved the undeniable chemistry between Devon and Kingston. I'm really looking forward to the next installment and experiencing all of these characters again. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

The hold that this series has on me! “Rock God” is a steamy, emotional and heart squeezing rock star romance that pulled me in and didn’t let go of me even after I finished.
After losing their bass player to suicide, Onyx Knight is looking for their next one to go on tour in his honor. But beyond the grave in his note, he left a request that they let Devon Cate audition. Devon had once been in a band but after some shady things that happened, she had been working a 9-5 job to support herself and great grandmother. But at the audition, something clicks for her. And the rock God himself, Kingston Knight, takes notice of her too.
I was so sad at the end of the last book losing Carter the way we did. I had been waiting for the next book to see how the band was able to rally together, to continue their music and remember Carter as they did all of that. Kingston has a way about him and I can see why Devon was drawn to him from the start. He’s confident, hot and cares deeply for his bandmates who are his extended family. Devon was so great and I had an instant girl crush on her. I could just envision a baddie female rocking the bass. I love how close she is with her great grandmother who was a hoot. The plot twist of what secrets Devon was hiding was so good and I loved how she was able to overcome it. Kingston and Devon were sizzling hot together but also had an emotional connection that ran deep. I loved the ending and I’m already counting down the days until the next book.

I fell for Kingston Knight when he first appeared in A Knight Before Christmas, his brother Remy’s book. He’s been an intriguing character in a couple books, so I couldn’t wait for his book …and it was totally worth the wait.
Kingston is a rock god, but he is also a sweet and kindhearted man who takes care of his loved ones. He’s still grieving his friend and bandmate Carter’s suicide and reluctantly moving forward professionally with auditioning bass players. He wasn’t expecting Devyn Cates to knock his socks off.
Devyn is expecting to wake up from this dream-like version of her life when her favorite band invites her to audition for their open bass player position and then offers her the job. She isn’t aware Carter had recommended her to the band to be his replacement in his final letter to them. She’s got a past she’s ashamed of and is worried what will happen if she shares it with the band, especially Kingston.
This storyline is addictive and had me glued to my kindle until the very end. The emotions are this story evokes are both rich and varied. The romance between Kingston and Devyn is forbidden, yet unavoidable as they are drawn to together from their first meeting. This is another sexy and thrilling book by the talented Kat Mizera, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
I received a free ARC from the author and 1852 Media; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Kingston is the lead singer for Onyx Knight and is called The Rock God by their legions of fans. Kingston and his Onyx Knight bandmates are looking for a new bass player after their bandmate, Carter, commits suicide. Devyn is a sought after studio musician known for her masterful bass playing. When Devyn Cates blows the guys of Onyx Knight away with her bass play, they offer her the gig as the bass player for Onyx Knight for their upcoming tour. Sparks fly from the moment Kingston and Devyn lay eyes on each other. Devyn and Kingston finally give into their attraction, but Devyn makes Kingston agree to keep their relationship secret from the band. Will Devyn come clean about her past with Kingston before it becomes public knowledge? Will Kingston and the band back Devyn when she needs them the most? Will Devyn walk away from Kingston and Onyx Knight, or will she face her past mistakes head on? What will Kinston do to protect Devyn from a vengeful ex? Will Devyn and Kingston admit their love and find their future together? I absolutely loved Rock God by Kat Mizera! Kingston and Devyn has amazing chemistry. Loved the way Devyn fit right in with the guys of Onyx Knight. I love the guys of Onyx Knight, and how they had Devyn's back when her past came back to haunt her. I would highly recommend getting Rock God and the other book in the Rock Harder series by Kat Mizera. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Kingston’s story is here and he is truly a Rock God!
Onyx Knight has survived the ultimate tragedy. Losing not only a band mate but a man they considered their brother has changed not only the band but each man individually. In a search for a new bass player, to carry on the role in a direction fitting of the new version of Onyx Knight, Devyn blows away the competition during her audition and the rest is history. The band knew she had to be good at what she did, she was recommended by Carter himself, but she is so much more than an amazing bass player. Devyn is a woman with talent for so many aspects of music, she plays multiple instruments and writes beautiful music, but a bad experience in her past combined with a desire to care for her great grandmother leads her to become a studio musician. The opportunity to join Onyx Knight seems like a dream, but as readers discover it is very real. Kat Mizera pulls readers into the rock and roll world thoroughly and with love, passion, family and music. She is one of the most talented writers when it comes to weaving a new story with previous characters and creating something new that fans will not be able to put down! Kingston and Devyn will have readers falling in love and wishing for more!

Rock Harder #2
Kingston Knight is known as the Rock God. He's part of the band Onyx Knight who are the top grossing rock band of the decade.
Now the band has to find a new bass player after theirs committed suicide. In his letter to the band he recommends Devyn Cates to take his place. The band isn't sure if they want to go on or hang it up but feel Carter would want them to continue.
Devyn Cates was in a band in college until it went bad. Now she is one of the top rated studio musicians. She's surprised to get the call to come audition for the band. She isn't sure she wants to play with the band for fear her secrets will come out.
Kingston is attracted to Devyn. But he's not a relationship kind of guy, more like a one night stand. Now at 30 he's starting to think more about his life, settling down, that's if he finds the right woman. Besides, getting involved with a bandmate could cause some problems. He just can't stay away from her.

Loved Greatty, her great-grandma and what she brought to the story.

wow
Wow, just wow! Kingston and Devyn make me sit up and take notice. If we could only clone Kingston, the world would be a perfect place. A man, who is kind, loving, generous, and loyal is hard to come by. Devyn has had bad luck with men, and been hurt far too much. She’s embarrassed, and it’s hard for her to open up about things that if she was not coerced, she would’ve never done. The love they share is amazing and all consuming. I fell in love with each, and everyone of the band members and their entourage. Can’t wait for Kellen and Jesse’s story. Just one more thing Kat … I don’t know who your proofreader is, but you need to find a new one and let that one go. It’s as if they didn’t even read the book. There were so many wrong words, And extra words that made no sense. it was very distracting. The story was truly amazing, but it was hard in places to figure out what you were trying to say because of all the wrong and extra words. Find a true professional!

Onyx Knights are back and needing a new bass player. Devyn Cates was the choice of their former bass player, and after auditions, she is clearly the best choice. Kingston Knight is the lead singer and somewhat of a rock god, I can almost picture the tousled blond locks and low hung jeans-wow! He has been enjoying the many women that come with a rockstar’s lifestyle…until he sees Devyn. Immediately she has his attention and soon his body and heart.
Devyn has secrets and is slow to trust after her last relationship many years ago but know she must be honest with Kingston if they have a future. Devyn’s plan and timeline to share her past are ruined when the info leaks. Minor angst with the couple until Kingston seeks out advice from his brother Remy (love the crossover!!)
The first book in this series broke my heart but set up this story so well that I just may forgive Kat Mizera. Kingston and Devyn did not disappoint and now I can not wait to get Keelan and Jesse’s story!!

Kingston and Devyn
SO Amazing! I loved this one so much. Book 2 in the Rock Harder series and the men of Onyx Knight did not disappoint. This is Kingston's book and how they move on from the loss of their bandmate. Kingston is amazing. Carters death was such a shock in the first book. The camaraderie between the bandmates is more like brothers. Devyn is trying to make it in a male dominated world. She’s had some really bad luck with a jerk ex boyfriend so she’s slow to trust. Kingston has never attached himself to any woman long term in a relationship but he finds himself falling for Devyn. Devyn has secrets she isn’t willing to share yet. Frankly, that was the only really frustrating part of the book for me. Her holding back was a little too drawn out. I kept stopping reading because they weren’t getting there. All was well in the ends HEA. I love anything by this author and the next book in this series looks exciting. I can’t wait!

Rock God, book two in the Rock Harder series puts you right into the world of the Onyx Knight rock band, but it is the growing relationship between Kingston Knight, lead singer of Onyx Knight and Devney Cates the new bass player in the band that keeps the pages turning. Their connection and chemistry is so easy to see, but will her past threaten to ruin all she has worked for?
Kingston Knight and the band are established and successful but Devyn is new to the complete life of notoriety and there are definitely some ups and downs with jumping in.
Ms. Mizera did such a fantastic job of painting a picture of this band and you could feel the energy and passion that was clearly evident when they played on stage.

Awesome read. I couldn’t put this down till I finished it. The Rock Harder series is a must read and it gets better and better. We read Kingston’s story who we met in a few of Kat’s books. He is Remy Knight’s brother who we read in Knight Before Christmas the beginning of the Lauderdale Knights series. His band is devastated with losing their bass player Carter who in his dying wish was for them to hire Devyn Cates to replace him. She has been burned by her college band and has a savory past because of it. Kingston and Devyn have real chemistry between them when they first meet. This has lots of steamy romance and an awesome HEA.

Kingston is still reeling from the death of his bestie Carter, but the show must go on. Devon is everything he never knew he wanted. This rock God is willing to go monogamous for her and break every rule he’s ever had for himself. Devon is playing everything close to herself, even if she’s falling for the lead singer of Onyx Knights. When Devon and Kingston are their unfiltered self, that is where the perfect song comes from. Plus sooo steamy. Mizera takes us through all the fills in another great installment of the Rock Harder series.

5 stars for Rock God by Kat Mizera
What a great read. Love this series. Love these Onyx Knight members. Amazing characters. A big family. Nice to hear about other characters from other series. Some of the most hot and sexy scenes. Love Kingston and how he does not care what people think. Love Devyn in how she has to become so strong. A character that is flawed but loves completely with her heart. A very strong role model in the messaging of this book. Can't wait for the next installment of Onyx Knight.

September 28, 2023It’s hard bring a female. It’s harder being a female in rock and roll. It’s even harder being a female in the world’s hottest rock band. Welcome to Devyn’s life. Add in some secrets about her past and an ex trying to get his moment of fame and the chance of a lifetime, both personally and professionally, may never happen.
I love Kat’s books and Rock God does not disappoint. Kingston Knight is definitely book boyfriend material.

So Good!!!
Kingston is every bit as amazing as I expected him to be! I am so happy that Devyn came along and knocked him on his butt! Lol! We have seen the protective side of him come out with Lexi in prior books and I can't wait to watch what happens now that it's directed at someone he truly loves! Bring on more Onyx Knight stories!

This very Sexy and Beautiful story was so worth the wait, it was sweet, sexy and full of angst. But it was all worth it when it all came down. Absolutely loved it and I am definitely looking forward to the next one.

This book was just so good. The smartly crafted combination of intense emotions, humor, drama, steam and twists dazzles and I very quickly found myself completely consumed with Kingston and Devon's romance. These two gave my heart a rock-solid workout.

Another super story
I’ve been reading Kat’s work for 4 years. Great stories that cross her universe of characters and stories. I love this one for it’s perspective. I was just at a concert Wednesday, so had some immediate frame of reference. Ready for #3 in the series.

Kingston & Devyn rock
I was blown away by Rock Bottom, the first book in Kat Mizera's Rock Harder series, it was raw, gritty, and full of emotion. ROCK GOD, book two, had the same affect. ROCK GOD follows on from the events of the previous book after the death of Carter, Onyx Knight's bass player. Carter left a letter to the band stating that if they decide to continue then they need to audition Devyn Cates to take his place.
Kingston Knight is Onyx Knight's lead singer. Even though he has had relationships in the past he's not ready for that forever commitment. The minute Devyn walks into the audition and starts playing he's mesmerized. He knows she's special, in many ways. Becoming the bassist for Onyx Knight is the chance of a lifetime for Devyn, a studio musician who has worked hard to get where she is. Devyn has a past that she would rather forget, a past that could destroy everything.
I fell for Kingston reading book #1, now I love him even more. He comes across as the atypical rockstar, cocky, arrogant, and very self-assured, but he's so much more. He's a gentle giant, a man who cares for those close to him, he has a sensitivity about him that drew me to him. Devyn is simply beautiful. I love that she worked hard to be acknowledged for her work. The relationship between Kingston Devyn is complex, intense, heated, and, in a way, forbidden. I loved that Kingston fell first, even though he wasn't sure of his feelings at first. Devyn's secret is eating away at her, but will she be able to tell Kingston her secret before her past comes back to haunt her?
ROCK GOD was a wonderful gripping, emotional read. Kingston and Devyn sizzled whenever they are together, they were sweet, tender, and their banter and sexy talk was just perfect. I loved catching up with the other members of Onyx Knight, meeting Devyn's great-grandma, Greatty, she was amazing, and Kingston's family were great with their love and wise words. Devyn's bestie, Jesse, was the bestie every girl should have, I can't wait for more about her.
A definite Top 10 read for 2023.

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book is about the Onyx Knight Band and Kingston Knight who is called a Rock God. In the book we meet Devyn, who is the new hire to replace Carter after he dies.
This is a story about moving on after loss. The Onyx Knights have lost Carter who was their Bass player. But he wanted the band to move on and the band works hard to make that happen. But in the real world it's an easy thing to say but not so easy when you love and miss him and the whole world loved him as well, despite his issues. Carter is the one who found Devyn and he wanted the band to audition her to continue. That is how she enters Kingston and the bands life.
Devyn has an ex who she was with in her band and let's say it was a nightmare relationship that did not end up well. So, she had to figure out how to move on as well. Now with her joining the band she will have to figure out how to keep on moving on and not letting the past affect her present. Even as her past tries to threaten her present.
In this story we also meet Devyn's great grandmother, Greatty, who is a hoot and her best friend Jesse who ends up hooking up with another band member in the story. The third book in the series features them.
I was in love with Kingston when this book started, and I just fell harder as I really got into his head and got to know him and watch him fall for Devyn. Devyn is a strong and complicated character but so perfect for King. I fell just as in love with her and her family and friends that we meet in this story.
There is an aspect of forbidden in this story as Devyn states she doesn't want sex or a relationship with any of her bandmates. So, while her and Knight start having feelings, there is a forbidden nature to the relationship.
It was an awesome story with many twists and turns as the media and the public and Onyx Knights learn who Devyn is. I could not put it down. I really loved this book so much. I also loved that the author brought Kristin Aiken in this story. She is currently 17 and I loved that I got to see what she is up to.

🔥 Five Electric Stars – A Rock Romance You’ll Feel in Your Soul 🔥
After Carter’s suicide, the band was shattered. He wasn’t just their bassist—he was family. Replacing him felt like a betrayal, so they didn’t. Not for a long time. But when grief finally loosened its grip, they started auditions… only to discover that Carter had already chosen his successor. He left one name in his final note: Devyn.
Devyn wasn’t just good—Devyn was legendary. The moment they started playing, it was like the music had been waiting for this exact lineup. The band felt whole again. No one could quite figure out if Devyn was a guy or a girl—not that it mattered. Talent like that eclipses everything.
Then came Kingston.
Lead singer of Onyx Knight. A walking, talking, sinfully hot rock god. One look at Devyn, and he was gone. Their chemistry? Off. The. Charts. When they finally gave in to it, I swear my Kindle nearly exploded from the heat. But what truly melted me were the quiet moments—Kingston doing sweet, thoughtful things for Devyn when no one was watching. That man may own the stage, but he gave his heart away in private.
But Devyn has secrets. Deep ones. Painful ones. The kind that make you believe love isn’t something you’re allowed to have. She’s scared—terrified that telling the truth will destroy everything she’s just begun to rebuild: the band, the music, and Kingston.
This book is so much more than a rockstar romance—it’s a story of healing, found family, trust, and love so powerful it rewrites your soul. I devoured every word, but still found myself reading slowly just to savor the depth, the heat, the heartache.
If you love raw emotion, searing chemistry, and rockstars who fall hard, this is your next obsession. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
A must-read. Five stars. Absolute perfection.

After the death of their bandmate Carter, the remaining members of the band have to find a replacement so that they can continue with the band and their planned tour. In the letter that Carter left for the remaining members of the band, he asked them to try out Devyn Cates a bass player that he had met previously. One tryout and the members of Onyx Knight realize that they have a wonderful bass player that will bring a new energy to their performances. Devyn deliberately gives off a very androgynous vibe as the rock music industry is very male centered and she wants to be known for her talent, she is also trying to forget about things that have happened in her past. Kingston Knight, the lead singer of Onyx Knight, is immediately smitten with Devyn, but knows that nothing can come of a relationship because of the effect on the band. But eventually, the chemistry between Devyn and Kingston is combustible and they decide to see what happens, while keeping their relationship a secret, just in case things go south. Unfortunately, secrets have a way of coming out and ruining relationships, and Devyn has a huge secret that she is trying to decide how to tell Kingston about. But how will Kingston react when he finds out? Will they be able to get past this?
I loved this second installment of the Rock Harder series and it was a joy to witness Devyn and Kingston's story. The secondary characters of Greatty, Devyn's great grandmother and her best friend Jesse add some much needed light relief.
