Elizabeth (Liz) Hawkins is an American author and blogger. Her first book, From Pigtails and Pinafores: My Mother's Life Growing up on the Florida Gulf was published in 2005. Her second book, The World outside our Door was published in 2017 and pays homage to her father, a man born out of wedlock in a small North Carolina town in 1913 and grew up under a cloud of shame and rejection, leading him to alcoholism as an adult. Liz grew up a child of an alcoholic and although she loved her father dearly, his drinking became a source of resentment and shame to her. It wasn't until she was in her 50's did she understand the tremendous affects that her father's drinking had on her. She has been blogging about it since 2015.
