I really wanted to make this review as professional as possible (not because I am, obviously, but, well, a review should always seem decent). However, that's a pretty hard thing to do in my case if a hundred fangirly emotions are swirling within me right now.

I. LOVE. IT.

Imagine a 16-year-old girl flailing her hands around and singing, "I looooove iiiiit" in an opera-ish voice. Yep, that's me.

Some people who have read the book would probably wonder why I'm so ecstatic about it. Truth be told, the story line is not at all complicated. No one's dying a dramatic death and no one's fighting off hooligans with their bare hands. But that's exactly what I love about it. It's a simple love story with realistic problems and believable characters. Though I am a person with a liking for complicated plots and creative twists, sometimes a happy, little story can bring you far, ESPECIALLY when the plot twists are not annoying and frustratingly done and the problems are quietly resolved. I love it when I don't feel like shouting at a main character for having bad judgement and making terrible choices.

Prior to this I read 'The Best Girl', which is also a fun read, but I like 'Tourist Trap' more mainly because of the characters. Especially Jared. Well, I love Conner from 'The Best Girl' as well, but, JARED. W-O-W. He has amazing character development, if any. He is such a sweet guy and the things he does for Cassie... Let's just say I haven't felt this way towards a book couple for a very long time.

I recommend that everyone read this book, especially if you're looking for really light reads. Emma Harrison's got what you need. :)

Are you serious? Why couldn't she write a full happy ending where Jared moves to Logan Lake and they all live happily ever after instead of a semi-happy ending where you just have to think that their relationship isn't gonna last since they'll just have a telephone-relationship which, in my book, isn't really all that romantic. Cassandra Grace and her best friends, twins Donna and Derek Policastro, have lived in Lake Logan, a tiny town in upstate New York, for their whole lives, and they're looking forward to spending their last summer before college together -- swimming at the lake, riding horses, and hanging out the Regency Theater, the old, run-down theater Donna and Derek's parents own. Cassie is also going to be busy working, giving horseback riding lessons at her parents' farm to the kids of the rich vacationers who spend the summers at Lake Logan, commonly known by the year-round locals as invaders. Cassie needs to make enough money for the entry fee of the jumper competition she plans to win with her horse, Lola, and she's determined that nothing is going to stop her from making that money and winning the competition.

Then Jared Kent shows up, son of the most infamous invader family (this is their first time back at Lake Logan in twenty years), and suddenly Cassie finds herself very distracted. She's skipping work and hang-out sessions with her friends in order to spend time with Jared, and she's definitely not making the money she needs. On top of that, Jared's father has made a proposition to the Lake Logan locals, one that has the whole town in an uproar and Cassie wondering whether she's making the right choice by being with Jared.

A story of first love, life changes, and just plain fitting in, TOURIST TRAP is a fun, light read, and teenagers, especially those getting ready to go off to college, will definitely be able to relate.

First off, Tourist Trap just hit the ball out of the park. It is about a country hardworking girl, often referred to as Responsible, Predictable Cassie Grace, trying to work the entire summer for her college future only to fall hard for the rich obnoxious but extremely hot boy next door, Jared Kent. Only that, the small town has issues with the Kents with fear that history may repeat itself… hence, the cliche of the forbidden love.

For me to love a book, there’s only one thing on the checklist: Make me fall for not only the story and not only the characters, but both. And it did.

The thing is, the plot may be as cliche as it is, but it’s the classic Romeo and Juliet that seems to make us love it no matter what. It may seem that easy to fall for but that easy light plot would be nothing if not for good writing… and Tourist Trap had that in the bag right on the first chapter. Nothing keeps you reading like good writing.

And the characters… oh I can’t even begin with the characters. The leads just make you fall for them, female or male… whichever, you will fall… fall hard. To make it short, they are different, good different. Its really hard for me to appreciate how the author makes really diverse personalities work in a variety of ways in such a simple plot… and I did here.

So if that hasn’t gotten me to express how much I really love this book… I don’t even know what will. A million words maybe? I could keep going you know… :)

The main character Cassie was kind of obnoxious. She's supposed to be so responsible and hard working but she spends most of the book hanging out with the hot guy at the beach and blowing off her job. Not exactly what I would call mature and responsible. She's selfish too. I didn't like her much.

The love interest was lackluster. I didn't think they had much chemistry and he was kind of a jerk at times.

Since I didn't care for either one of these two on their own, I didn't care for them as a couple either.

Just a light, fluffy summer read.

Cassandra Grace has lived in Logan Lake, a small town, her whole life. She has known the same people her whole life and she has even spent her summer doing the same thing, with the same people. So when the summer after high school rolls around, she knows that things are going to be the same they have been for the past eighteen years. Or at least, thats what she assumes. Cassie is hard working and responsible, saving up every penny for when she finally gets to leave Lake Logan for college. But then something new happens.

The Kent’s come back to Lake Logan, throwing off the entire town. Mrs. Kent grew up in Lake Logan and then left when she met Mr.Kent. Once Mrs. Kent met Mr. Kent, she cut off her friends from the town and become a wealthy manhattan lady.

Enter Jared Kent. Pretty, rich, smart, and way too charming for his own good. Jared takes a strong liking to Cassie and throws off the balance of her last summer home.

Before I start with the review, I need to say that I am a HUGE sucker for any romantic comedy books. They can be the absolute worst thing ever but if they have romance and comedy, I already love it.

This was a very cute book. It has anything a summer read should have: cute boys, best friends, drama, the beach and fun. The characters at first were very one dimensional. Cassie is the good girl, Derek and Donna are the twin best friends. Donna the fun one and Derek the cautious and overbearing one.

When I first started reading the book, I thought that Derek and Cassie were going to end up being a couple. You now the whole best friends bother thing, but I was wrong. And I am very happy I was wrong because Jared Kent is fantastic.

He starts off being a spoiled, entitled Manhattan trust fund baby but we watch him grow into a person who cares about his friends and his family.

The plot is very similar to that of all the other summer rom-com books. And same with most of the characters. The parents aren’t very involved with the story until the end when Cassie gets herself into a problem and needs her parents help, her friends almost stop talking to her until she makes everything right and she almost looses the love of her life; Jared Kent.

The writing wasn’t anything special but I found this to be a fun and light summer read. If you’re looking for something fun, I would definitely recommend you pick up this book.

Cassandra Grace lives in Lake Logan in New York. Cassandra or Cassie who've just graduated from high school is planning of spending her summer working giving riding lessons to have enough money to enter the riding competition in which the prize money will be used for her college expenses. But somethings or someone came that her father considers as a distraction.. An invader! -- Jared Kent, a rich, summer local that went there for the first time. Will Cassie's plans will work altogether?

Well, at first.. I knew it was going to be a fast and light read. Which I think I'm right, but hey! I really enjoyed reading this one and I like the characters especially: (of course, Cassie, Jared and also Derek).

--I like Cassie, I think she's just a typical teen who's trying to relax after graduating, but insisted on working for her future's sake. Although she had some kind of struggle between her chores and hanging out with her friends. But still she also needs rest and enjoyment.

--At first, I thought Jared's going to be jerk trying to manipulate everyone by his money but I think He's nice, and yeah He smiles a lot, which made him look friendly, BUT.... (ohh just read the book) :)

--Donna and Derek, the bestfriends of Cassie.. There's time in the book that I've almost hated Donna, but all through out, she's okay. As for Derek, He's a nice caring brother and friend. No. 1 anti- invaders.

After reading the last page, I was literally looking for the 'other last page' which I did not find. Anyway, This is a fun and quick read 'for me.. and I recommend it to all who reads this kind of books and even to those who doesn't, who knows you might love it. :)

this book was frilly and cute in places but compared to some of harrison's other books i found it a bit lacking. most of it was very predictable but in a light trashy read that does not conbcern me too much my main problem was that i just didn't connect with most of the characters. also i am still not entirely sure why there are boats on the cover...

The writing was bleh, where several incidents happened one after another without any visible connections, and the climax was just a very big blah. At least this gave me hope that I might be a better writer than those with published books, so I wouldn't say that reading this was a complete waste of time.

After reading this, I was ashamed to share the name Cassie.
She was kind of a brat, not her own person, and even though things "worked out" I was disappointed.
I had such great hopes for this book, only for them to be dashed against rocks of sadness.

With this book, you can absolutely judge it by its cover—in the best way possible. It’s exactly what it promises to be: a cute romance with just enough charm to pull me in, despite my initial skepticism.

I loved the cheeky nod to the wealthy summer home crowd being dubbed “Invaders.” That little dig felt fresh and fun. The small-town dynamics gave me serious Outer Banks meets The Summer I Turned Pretty vibes, which I was all about.

Cassie Grace is a fantastic main character. She really surprised me—unexpectedly inspiring in a way that felt genuine and relatable. Her character development was top-notch, and her "last summer before college" adventure made me wish I could rewind time and have a similar experience. Cassie’s journey to finding balance—between responsibility and cutting loose—was one I genuinely enjoyed following.

(For the record, I totally pictured her looking like Gracie Abrams even before the whole “Gracie” nickname Kent started using. Coincidence? I think not.)

Overall, this was a sweet read. Sure, I initially worried that my non-horse-girl status might hold me back, but the equestrian bits were sprinkled in just right—enough to feel authentic but not so much that I needed a crash course in horse care. Emma knew her audience and wrote it like we were all already in the know. Appreciate that.

One question, though: Do they not have cellphones? I kept wondering if we were time-traveling or if the signal was just that bad.

5/10 - jared and cassie/gracie.

honestly just very sweet. initially i was a doubter, but this ended up proving me wrong. the ML was *shocklingly* not evil even though there were definetly moments that were dated [ie. "i like i girl who can eat" -_-]. the FL was so cute, even if a bit helpless.

also, i apreciated how there was no epilouge. i think for this genre it's more interesting [in most cases] to create your own idea for an ending.

overall, would recommend. a funny dock read for when you're tanning ;)

Loved this book, have read it several times in the past and for the life of me couldn’t remember what it was called. Several moves and a great loss to my book collection. This is one story that has always stuck in my head and trying to find again with only a vague idea of the plot after so many years. Now I’ll be off to reread this again and it’ll get put straight back on my bookshelf so I can reread whenever.

So close to be a four star book and could have easily been a 5 star book.

The characters were likable and the dynamics of the book were good.

Cassie a local girl living in a small town tourist spot has just graduated high school and is trying to save up money for a jumping competition before she heads off to college.

Every summer their town is filled with tourist people or "invaders". The town folk have always been curious about the Kent family who owns a big piece of property, a huge home and never visits. But of course this summer they do and Cassie and Jared meet.

Jared's character is likable where the story was lacking for me was in this relationship. You know it is going on and you get some of the details and stories but often it is filled with brief over view of things like Jared and I have spent a lot of time together and listing a few places they have been. At the beginning of the story you get some information but once they kiss for the first time it seems the relationship takes the back burner to other things and then when people think they might love someone it seems a little unbelievable.

I know it is suppose to be a frivolous fun read. It was those things I just think for me if I had a little more of their relationship building and less about the strip mall and work around the yard/barn and horse lessons it could have been a little better. Also I found the book had too much profanity. It wasn't needed. You have these really nice kids and the people are nice so I found it unnecessary.

Tourist Trap was everything a (HarperTeen) YA romance is supposed to be. It was adorable. The characters were fun to get to know and unique. And for a fun, YA novel, the characters were complex. You kept finding new things about them, things that made you read on, wanting to know exactly how it ended. (Because, of course, this is a YA romance, you know that it'll end up with a happy ending, the main character with her main squeeze).

Cassie was sweet, the twins, Donna and Derek were entertaining and refreshingly real, and Jared was hot and, while seeming a little stuck up at first, was mostly down-to-earth. The characters all had their own, separate personalities, with their own, separate problems. The characters fit perfectly into the YA romance theme.

The cover bugged me, however. I don't remember a sailing scene in the book, and the title could have been better. Other than that, I have no real complaints. While not the most unique and suspenseful book, Tourist Trap was a wonderful beach read... too bad I read it in February, huh? ;p

Cassie Grace lives in upstate New York in a small community that is invader by "invaders" each and every summer. She and her family have a ranch and she loves horses. She's teaching lessons to try and save enough money to enter a competition, in hopes that she'll win and be able to pay for a lot of school. Her mom's best friend growing up was involved in a town scandal years ago and is now back in town---with her son. He and Cassie form an unlikely relationship and it's a battle between loyalty to friends and family and love of an invader.

A quick, easy, fluffy summer-time read.

Content: language, teen drinking, talk of invaders seducing local girls, but no details.

I am no longer sure about anything anymore. The Best Girl was my favorite Emma Harrison novel as of this morning but then I finished Tourist Trap a little while after I had those thoughts and now I am confused.

From the first time Cassie met Jared, I wanted them to get together that it hurts when they're apart. And they got together not long after and that was just GOOOOLDDEEEEEENNNNN. And um um um Jared is just wow I don't know how to explain but yeaaahhh

I was sort of hoping that at the ending Jared would say that his parents decided they'll stay in Logan for good but yeah I didn't get that. But anyway, this book is amazing. :)

OMG
A typical obnoxious rich boy and a country girl, never thought it'd work
All of Jared's friends think Donna, which is Cassie's best friend is hot.
For Jared, it's Cassandra.
He wants to have fun
He wants to have her
Donna wants to have Christopher
Unfortunately, that jerk-ass guy broke her heart
Cassie had been shielding herself then
Will the "L" word be announced through Cassie, or Jared?

I LOVE this book, it's amazing! So romantic that it brought tears to my eyes. I was crying so hard when the story ends, with joy, not sadness. Five star book (:

A nice, fun read. :)

I just find the cause of friction between the locals and the tourists a bit too shallow and doesn't really do much for the story, or a little too deep that could have worked better if this was an adult contemporary novel. In this young adult setting, it just feels like the idea is a little far-fetched and ridiculous.

But still, the light romance makes it an easy-breezy, lighthearted read.

Another great Emma Harrison book. I really liked both Cassie and Jared. Even though they came from different backgrounds, this story showed that it doesn't mean that a relationship can't work. I really enjoyed this story and its take on friendship, young love and the complications of family life and parental relationships.

UGHHHHHH. what the fuck I read?!??! This is what I get for trying to read something that's so clearly targeted at middle school aged female tweens. Bad Zeal, very bad!

I hereby vow, that I shall only read books I know are aimed towards me. Unless I'm really interested by the blurb. Or I like the author. Or others have sworn up and down that the book is awesome. Or I'm bored. Or something.
