" The Humanistic Tradition is quite simply the finest book of its type. Fiero manages to integrate the political, cultural, and social history of the world into one coherent and fascinating whole. It is a masterpiece of scholarship . . . balanced, interesting, easy to read, and consummately beautiful. Our professors praise its accuracy and scope and our students unanimously say it is their favorite textbook." — Sonia Sorrell, Pepperdine University The Humanistic Tradition features a flexible, topical approach that helps students understand humankind's creative legacy as a continuum rather than as a series of isolated events. This is just a brilliant book for the humanities, incorporating art, literature, music, dance . . . I read it for art history and am about to move onto the next in the series. I want to read all the ones previous to this, too. Just a marvelous overview, never boring - not too much information but also not so little that I feel undereducated for confused.
I read these for my Art Appreciation class is College and have since gone back many times to review in more depth since than. Great summary of art history during specific time periods.
