Now, for the first time in English, a book which tells the complete story of the remarkable, sensual and provocative world of Japanese erotic bondage. The Beauty of Kinbaku, a new work by renowned authority and teacher Master K, is the result of four years of research, much of it in Japan, making it the most comprehensive volume on its subject in English.
Says Nureki Chimuo, legendary Japanese rope master: "It is a wonderful, complete book ... I have never before seen a volume that expresses both such love for rope and such understanding of the subject .... You have done a splendid job of pulling everything together into an accurate, concise work. I am just so impressed. You have my deep respect and admiration."
Arisue Go comments: "Master K is the most notable and expert writer-researcher on this subject ... he has touched upon the very essence of Japan's culture in his excellent work."
Osada Steve adds: "Master "K" promises, and Master "K" delivers. This book is a masterpiece, the mother of all books on Kinbaku/Shibari. It's the yardstick with which all future books on the subject will be measured."
Included in its 192 lavishly illustrated pages are chapters on:
* The origins and history of Kinbaku- from ancient times to the present day * Its evolution as an art form, from medieval martial art to modern eroticism * Twenty five mini biographies * One hundred rare, historical illustrations and photographs * A photo gallery with 109 brand new and stunningly beautiful photographs by shibari artist and teacher Master "K"! * For the first time in English, an extensive glossary that describes and defines all of the classic and current kinbaku ties and terms * A clearly illustrated "How-to" section showing you how to complete three of the most important ties upon which many tying patterns are based * An extensive bibliography of all the English and Japanese literature on this fascinating subject
The book is divided into four sections. The first section is a comprehensive and fascinating history of Kinbaku. Its origins are explored and explained with beautiful illustrations. The second section deals with twenty-five key figures in the history of the art. Again the illustrations, to be found on every page, add to the reader's appreciation of the text. The third section is a collection of photographs, followed by the captions which include the names of all the ties. Be prepared to be amazed, moved, aroused and disturbed. The ties are intricate and beautiful. The expressions on the faces of the models are unforgettable. The last section is a short "how to" section. It shows three classic Shibari/Kinbaku patterns, with photographs and a step by step illustrations. Master "K" has spent thirty years studying Kinbaku and four years researching and writing this book.It is a masterpiece and well worth all his efforts.
This book provides great insight into the historical background of shibari/kinbaku.
It also has some great pictures and a VERY short how-to for a couple of ties, not enough to learn anything useful but at least to give you an idea of the process.
I would recommend it to anyone interested in the background and evolution of the Japanese erotic tying arts.
