Building Design Management, Second Edition

Rate this book
Building Design Management examines the process of designing construction projects in order to understand and manage the process efficiently.
The first part of the book covers the theory behind design management such as what's involved in the building and engineering design process, the different stages, and how roles and responsibilities can change.
The second part of the book looks at design management practice covering how to develop a project culture, define tasks, manage and evaluate information as well as planning, monitoring and control.

Since the last edition was published in 2000 changes in procurement practices have led towards more collaborative working arrangements. This edition features a new section one to deal with the changing context of design and the effect of different procurement approaches being used to achieve a coordinated approach and includes topics such as; design, investment, utility, artefact, new approaches, PFI and design build. New approaches to service provision will also be explored in terms of how the risk profile of the design is altered. This edition also reflects developments in project information systems, design technology and elaborates on the effect of Computer-Aided-Design and integrated design practices.
