Milton is, as he himself points out, an "exceptional cat":"I am extremely handsome and I have a curious nose." This self-assured feline has the quintessential kitty ability to see himself in only the most glamorous, flattering light. Cat admirers of all ages will chuckle knowingly at Milton's description of his days as "very busy" accompanied by a fabulous black-and-white illustration of him lounging on top of a radiator in a cozy living room. He considers himself an excellent hunter--when he cares to give chase. Haydé Ardalan's pictures of this very special fellow capture the spirit of vain, intelligent, and exquisitely lazy. A search for deeper meaning will turn up precisely nothing--simply sit back and revel in Milton's very catness. Milton has the mark of a true classic--simple, quietly humorous, and outrageously beguiling. (Ages 3 and older) --Emilie Coulter
Meet Milton. As he shares his experiences hunting, eating and sleeping, Milton, with his ever-elegant black and white coat, velvety paws and sharp claws, will win hearts with his independent nature. I, am also a proud owner of an ever elegant little gentleman(Mr. Luna), of perfectly tuxedoed black and white colors, with velvety paws and sharp claws, who is fearless only in his own home, but then, oh, the expressive ears....! He has very busy days. If only we can achieve feline happiness as effortlessly as Mr. Milton...!
Okay, so I'm cataloguing all my books on GoodReads and have gotten to the cat shelf. Really hesitating to add some of the books here, as I'd like to pretend not to be a middle-aged cat lady, but, well, the shoe fits.
Anyway, this book is adorable with delightful drawings and text. Kids and/or cat lovers should like it.
Straightforward book of a cat introducing himself. Nice black and white art. My favorite page was the paws without and then with claws, which is also William's as he started talking about retractable claws whenever he sees the cats. Picked it up on a whim and William asked for it right away when he saw the cover.
I hate cats but Milton... he's cool. The writing (Milton's narration) has a very suave quality to it. And I like the simple black and white illustrations.
