Henry Moore: Complete Drawings 1940-49

Rate this book
All drawings from the 1940s known and recorded on the Henry Moore Foundation's database prior to September 2000, are documented here in small (approx. 2.5x3.5) b&w reproductions with identifying captions; 34 color plates offer even more to savor. In the time period 1940-49, Moore made an abundance of drawings of wartime subjects, miners working at the coalface, and his wife and infant daughter; and he made drawings for future sculpture projects. Editor Garrould, an art historian long affiliated with the Henry Moore Foundation, is also the artist's niece, and the catalogue raisonnF of Henry Moore drawings has been her project for a dozen years or so. The publisher reports that this is the fifth volume to appear of six volumes; it's identified as volume 3, so, presumably, earlier volumes had multiple parts. The project will publish one more volume dealing with the years 1950-76. 9.5x12. Distributed by Ashgate. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
