Wow. During WWII, Walther Eidlitz left his family and headed to India to study with his teacher. He is reaching new heights in his meditation practice and spiritual study when he is sent to a camp for foreigners (being deemed enemies of England). While the camps were pretty terrible (lack of freedom, lice, sub-par food and hello, imprisonment), Eidlitz continues to pursue his spiritual practice to a height. He meets a new spiritual teacher who guides him and it is pretty amazing that in such a dire and terrible situation, he finds himself at new heights. Few could make the most of such a circumstance; I found this book so inspiring, plus, of course, as a Vaishnava, I loved learning more about other Westerners studying. Great read.
