Like Midnight Dancer before it this book's rating of 5 stars is based on how much I adored this series as a child. In actuality this book isn't as good as Midnight Dancer, but child me didn't care about things like pacing, or how absurd plots are (and to be honest, I think the plot of the last book is far more absurd than this one).
There are certainly things in this book that would resonate well with children, Mory sees the world very black and white - there is no real in-between for her, and I recall being like that as a child. Having to be coached into why Caroline is a mean little thing is exactly what you'd do with young people, that new school experience pretty spot on.
I know too well I am re-reading these with rose tinted glasses but honestly I don't care. I'm loving the call back to my carefree childhood days too much!
