Rajeev is Radha and Rajan's only son. Rajan is a wealthy businessman from an utterly patriarchal family and constantly mistreats his wife, Radha. This results in a lack of a harmonious relationship with her son Rajeev. Since childhood, Rajeev has been an arrogant kid and has grown up into a male chauvinist. Divya is Rajeev's girlfriend, an aspiring Bharatanatyam dancer but is constantly oppressed by Rajeev. Her gratitude towards him for one reason holds her to continue the abusive relationship.

An incident makes Rajeev empathise with women all of a sudden. What is that incident? Will Divya continue her relationship with Rajeev? Will Rajeev ever understand his mother Radha and her ambitions? To know the answers, read this debut book by Gopinath Lakshmanan.

The idea that life as a whole can change into something else in the next moment is a thought that is striking yet ordinary. The exploration of this idea in fiction is rare and probably least visited in past writings or contemporary literary topics of expression. Gopinath Lakshmanan, in his debut novel, “Bloody Dreams,” gives an interesting representation of human lives on the whole while remaining faithful to reality. This gives him a framework to swing the plot to cover major portions of the characters’ lives while also turning them on 360 degrees to explore an alternate view of life under changed circumstances. Along with this, the readers witness the author’s touch on varying themes in the midst of an exploration of characters that are the incarnations of people who are victims of their circumstances or bearing the consequences of their choices.

While “Bloody Dreams” begins at a point that bewilders and baffles the readers, the author takes up to construct a plot that is driven by life’s uncertainties that creep in at times that are unpredictable and out of anyone’s understanding. Patriarchy seems to be the ruling point of Lakshmanan’s novel, which is eventually overtaken by the feminist overtone that also shows the plotline from the viewpoint of a woman and the circumstances she faces through the multiple roles she plays in one lifetime. Rajeev and Rajee are characters who appear to be contrasting and strikingly different from each other and face circumstances that are far beyond similar. While Rajeev literally has the whole world at his disposal, Rajee on the other hand struggles with the bare minimum and even remains miserable in the limits that she has. Through Rajeev and Rajee, “Bloody Dreams” presents two sides of the same coin that are influenced by determining factors like societal constructs, stereotypes, and pre-determined roles, which have been decided even before the birth of a child.

In that sense, Gopinath Lakshmanan, in his “Bloody Dreams,” takes the readers into a zone that is based on present-day developments and modernity and is still rooted in the older thoughts and beliefs which show the present generation to be an equal victim or a beneficiary. This book is recommended to readers who like to read a work born through fiction and yet presents reality without any sugar coating while keeping the possibility of happy endings dependent on factors more than one. Moreover, “Bloody Dreams” as a title holds significance and meaning throughout the text, which makes true sense only when the readers go through the whole of the book.

The author’s skill in capturing the lives of multiple yet limited characters through different versions of alternate realities is what distinguishes “Bloody Dreams” from any book written in the same category. It not only mirrors the reality which would be ordinary in a household, it also shows the story from the other side, which comprises the same people but in a different life form. This book is recommended not only to fiction readers but also those who are interested in reading works inspired by reality.

The narrative effectively shifts between different time periods, offering readers a chance to delve into the lives of characters both in the past and present. Central to the story is Rajeev's profound transformation from carefree to enlightened, a theme that captivates readers.

Rajeev's parentage, with Radha as a brilliant but stifled computer engineer and gold medalist from IIT, and Rajan as an ambitious individual, forms the foundation for the familial dynamics and ensuing conflicts. Rajan's complex character unveils the darker facets of ambition and control.

In his youth, Rajeev shared a close bond with his mother, gradually developing an increasing admiration for his father. The contrast between Rajeev's indulgent lifestyle and Aaditya's more balanced approach enriches their friendship.

The turning point arrives with Aaditya's accident and the discovery of the note "Be Yourself." This incident propels Rajeev's personal growth, igniting a realization for change.

As time passes, Rajeev falls in love with Divya. However, he unwittingly emulates his father's controlling behavior, restricting Divya's dancing passion and mistreating her. The relationship sours, leading to their separation.

An intriguing twist unfolds as Rajeev awakens as a woman, triggering a transformative journey. This dream-like sequence helps him empathize with women's struggles, becoming a potent metaphor for gender equality and societal pressures.

Rajeev's perspective shift after transformation lends authenticity to his apologies to his mother and wife, Radha and Divya. The theme of shared dreams introduces a supernatural element, deepening emotional ties.

The story commendably highlights women's strength and endurance, exposing their often-muted challenges. The eventual reconciliation within the family underscores empathy's potency.

Though the story features compelling character growth and addresses pertinent themes, some improvements could enhance its impact. The shift towards self-realization after Rajeev's gender transformation slightly diminishes the story's allure. Clearer transitions between time periods and greater exploration of character motivations would enrich the narrative.

The spider and fly allegory stands as a beautifully written component, epitomizing the book's magnificence.

In conclusion, the narrative's exploration of personal evolution, gender dynamics, and shared aspirations is both insightful and pertinent. It underscores the significance of empathy in forming meaningful bonds within families and society.

Hello everyone today I am going to review Bloody Dreams by Gopinath Lakshmanan. So let me start with the cover photo first. The cover photo is very simple and gave me a very calming vibe. Looking at the book I felt so much positivity inside me.

The story starts with Radha giving birth to Rajeev. Rajan is the husband of Radha who like the typical old fashioned male always wanted a son and abused Radha due to this. The character of Rajan was actually quite hateable in this book. This story is mostly about women and their dreams. The protagonist Rajeev after growing up becomes just like his father. He starts controlling his mother in all the ways he could. He also falls in love with Divya and tries to do the same thing with her.

I really liked the emotional bonding between Radha and Rajeev in the beginning of the story. When Rajeev was young he really did respect his mother but once his father starts showering all his wealth on him he starts becoming just like him. The author has great writing skills and to be honest this story has a very unique storyline. The characters are great and there were no unwanted plots and twists. The story is fast paced and I finished reading it within three days. I was really emotional after reading this book. Great job done by the author.

A different theme can be found in "Bloody Dreams," a book by Gopinath Lakshmanan. In the 1990s, a society dominated by men, that was the topic.
Radha and her caregiver's chats set the tone for the rest of the novel. Young Radha, who is intelligent and attractive, wed Rajan because he thought she was inferior to her father's property and showed no concern for her labour. One boy from Radha is all that Rajan desires.
Radha gave birth to a gorgeous child named Rajeev. At first, Rajeev is a mama's boy, but as he grows older, he begins to resemble his father more and more. The two get romantically involved. Dance is Divya's passion, and she excels at classical forms.

Divya is unwilling to stop their relationship despite being aware of Rajeev's controlling behaviour. Will Divya pursue her passion for dance in spite of her domineering boyfriend? What will she say regarding their relationip in her upcoming call? To learn, read the narrative.

I also laud the author's use of language. The storyline is excellent, and the language is really straightforward and clear. This would be wonderful to have in my bookshelf!

Throughout the annals of history, women have suffered the cruel indignities of patriarchal domination and marginalization, their voices silenced and their potential suppressed. Yet, the power of literature has served as a beacon of hope, shining a light on this injustice and advocating for the empowerment of women and the pursuit of gender equality. Through the portrayal of female characters that challenge gender stereotypes and defy societal norms, literature has been a powerful force for bringing attention to the struggles of women, and the imperative for meaningful change. From the timeless classic of Virginia Woolf's "A Room of One's Own" to the modern masterpiece of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's "Half of a Yellow Sun," literature has proved to be a formidable weapon in the battle for gender equality. Through the artful depiction of the female experience, literature has helped to expose the dark realities of patriarchal domination and the urgent need for women's empowerment. Through the power of storytelling and the craft of language, literature has helped to amplify the voices of women, providing them with a platform to be heard and their experiences to be shared. By casting a critical eye on societal norms and challenging gender expectations, literature has played a pivotal role in effecting social change, paving the way for a brighter, more equitable future.

"Bloody Dreams" by Gopinath Lakshmanan, is a riveting piece of literature that delves into the harrowing plight of women who are subjugated in our patriarchal society. From cover to cover, the novel weaves a poignant tale of Radha, an exquisite young woman of learning, who is wedded to Rajan, a man who values her father's property more than her own flesh and blood. Tragically, he neglects Radha even in her throes of labor. Nevertheless, Radha gives birth to a beautiful boy, Rajeev, who is initially a devoted son but eventually metamorphoses into a replica of his father's callous and indifferent behavior towards Radha. Alongside this, the author introduces Divya, a stunningly beautiful girl with an ardent passion for dance. Despite being stifled by the overbearing personality of Rajeev, she remains firmly attached to him, unable to sever the bonds of their relationship. One wonders why she clings to him despite his domineering ways. Will Rajeev come to understand the error of his ways, and will Divya be able to pursue her passion despite her oppressive beau? As these questions continue to swirl in the reader's mind, the plot takes an unforeseeable turn when Rajee enters the fray unexpectedly. Who is she, and how will she impact the lives of Rajeev and Divya? The pages that follow hold the answers to these intriguing queries, drawing the reader ever deeper into the spellbinding world of "Bloody Dreams."

"Bloody Dreams" by Gopinath Lakshmanan delves into the complex and interconnected lives of its characters, primarily focusing on Rajeev, Divya, and Radha. The novel skillfully tackles themes of ambition, love, and the pervasive influence of gender dynamics on individual lives.

The story revolves around Rajeev, an ambitious young man driven by a desire to build his own company, as inspired by his friend Aditya. However, Rajeev's journey is marked by a deeply ingrained male chauvinism inherited from his father, Rajan, who exerted control over his mother Radha throughout their marriage. This chauvinistic behavior is mirrored in Rajeev's relationships, particularly with Divya, the woman he falls in love with.

Divya, a talented classical dancer, is portrayed as ambitious and determined to achieve success in her chosen field. Despite Rajeev's restrictive and controlling nature, she persists in pursuing her dreams, seizing every opportunity to perform on various stages. The question arises: Why does she stick with a toxic relationship?

The novel subtly explores the complexities of love and the reasons why individuals may stay in toxic relationships. Divya's unwavering commitment to Rajeev could stem from a combination of emotional attachment, societal pressures, and perhaps a glimmer of hope that Rajeev can change and understand a woman's dreams. It highlights the delicate balance between love and self-fulfillment, forcing readers to question their own perceptions of relationships and personal agency.

The character of Radha adds another layer to the narrative, showcasing the unfulfilled dreams of a woman who was denied the opportunity to pursue her ambitions due to societal expectations and her husband's dominance. Radha's longing to take over her father's business empire, despite her exceptional qualifications, serves as a poignant reminder of the persistent gender inequalities present in many societies. Through Radha's experiences, Lakshmanan shines a spotlight on the devastating consequences of suppressing women's aspirations and the potential for generations of unfulfilled dreams.

The introduction of Rajee, a young and beautiful girl who becomes a bridge between the lives of Rajeev, Divya, and Radha, holds the promise of transformation and growth. It raises the question of whether Rajee can break the cycle of male chauvinism and help Rajeev understand the aspirations and dreams of women.

"Bloody Dreams" offers a thought-provoking exploration of societal norms, personal ambitions, and the power dynamics that shape relationships. Gopinath Lakshmanan's storytelling skills are evident as he weaves a narrative that captures the reader's attention from start to finish. By delving into the complexities of love and the struggle for self-realization, the novel prompts readers to reflect on their own beliefs and biases.

Overall, "Bloody Dreams" is a captivating read that skillfully intertwines themes of ambition, love, and the quest for personal fulfillment. It challenges readers to confront their own assumptions about gender roles and offers a compelling narrative that lingers in the mind long after the final page has been turned.

Bloody Dreams by Gopinath Lakshmanan is a book about women, the struggles they face to achieve their dreams and how some never get to achieve those. The back cover of the book is beautiful with the pictures of all the great women who have proved that women can do everything that a man can.

The story is set in Madras, Tamil Nadu. Radha is a lady in her mid 20s who is married to Rajan. Rajan is abusive and gave her a break from the physical and mental abuse only when she got pregnant. Even after suffering so much, her child gave her a reason to live only because the baby was a boy and not a girl.

Radha was a Computer Engineer and a gold medalist from IIT Madras but after her marriage, she became a prisoner in her own life. When one night, Sundari left to meet her daughter, Radha started feeling contractions, she fell down the stairs and when she called Rajan, he shouted at her for disturbing him and didn't pick up at all. Honestly this made me so angry. The worst part was Rajan was not in a meeting but having the time of his life with a prostitute.

Rajan was a big businessman, he was rich, but he was not great. He was the Managing Director of Radha Group of Companies which was Radha's expired father's, taken by him as dowry. Rajan celebrated his son, Rajeev's birthday in a grand way by calling all the important politicians, businessmen etc but it seemed he was using his baby just as an accessory to gain more wealth.

Rajan was controlling, disrespectful and a male chauvinist. For him, his wife was an object, his punching bag, his slave. Men like these were never taught how to express their emotions and that's why the only emotion known to them has forever been anger.

Rajeev grows up to become just like his father. He falls in love with a free spirited girl, Divya and tries to dominate her too. But something magical happens. One morning he wakes up to find himself transformed into a girl, Rajee, in a new home with a new mom. Everyone has forgotten about Rajeev except Divya. This makes him understand the struggles of a women, how unjustly and disrespectfully they are treated. This was the dream which made him change. He realised his mistakes and reconciled with Divya and his mom Radha.

The author has done an amazing job as readers can feel the emotions through the writing. The story is fast paced and really nice. I definitely recommend!

"Bloody Dreams" is a powerful novel that delves into the complexities of relationships, dreams, and the enduring impact of societal norms. The narrative revolves around the determined protagonist, Rajeev, whose unwavering dream to build his own company is influenced by his friend Aditya. However, as Rajeev's life takes a romantic turn with the introduction of Divya, the story delves into the depths of male chauvinism, toxic relationships, and the repercussions of past family dynamics.

The book's portrayal of Rajeev as a male chauvinist, akin to his father Rajan, adds a layer of depth to the narrative. The parallel between Rajeev's control over Divya and Rajan's domination of Rajeev's mother, Radha, invites reflection on the perpetuation of gender stereotypes and the cycle of control within families. The author masterfully navigates these dynamics, emphasizing how past experiences often shape our present relationships and choices.

Through Radha's character, the book highlights the unfulfilled dreams of women in patriarchal societies. Radha, an IIT gold medalist in Computer Engineering, was forced to relinquish her dreams of taking over her father's business empire after her marriage. Her story becomes a powerful symbol of the dreams and potential stifled by societal expectations and gender roles.

Divya, a talented classical dancer, represents resilience and ambition in the face of adversity. Her passion for dance and her desire to achieve greatness in the field are inspirational. Despite the toxicity of her relationship with Rajeev, she persists in pursuing her dreams, using every opportunity to perform and share her talent with the world.

The introduction of Rajee, a young and beautiful girl, adds intrigue to the story, as she becomes a bridge connecting the lives of Rajeev, Divya, and Radha. The reader is left wondering if Rajee can help Rajeev understand the value of a woman's dreams and aspirations.

"Bloody Dreams" is a poignant exploration of the intricacies of human relationships and the enduring impact of societal norms. The author's storytelling is compelling, and the narrative touches on themes of love, control, resilience, and the empowerment of women. This book is a powerful reminder of the need to challenge gender stereotypes and break free from the cycles of control and oppression that have held back generations.

Even in this twenty first century, when women’s shine as "Jack of all trades", the impact of patriarchy still exists. it is very astonishing to find a well-read man, still considering his fellow human as inferior to him just because it’s a woman. Still men practicing and treating women as an object of pride for his status and position. Still men mocking, gaslighting and suppressing a woman in name of giving her everything. Still men thinking he is the one who holds all rights over a woman, her body, her career plans, her life choice, her feeling and emotion.

This book Bloody dream is one such book which portraits yet another man who does the same and thinks it is his birthright to suppress and dominate the women’s in his life.

The book is intriguing and thought provoking. I could not resist myself from completing the book at the earliest time possible. The book covers intense and important topic happening in the society. Marriage is an act of business by many amd one such profit making marriage shattered the life of Radha.

She get strapped into a toxic and abusive relationship. Her life finds new light when she delivers a boy. Her son Rajeev admires and adores her so much and makes her feel special but it doesn't last longer. Her husband infects his patriarchal thought into his son. Rajeev with his friend Aditya moves from school to college but sudden death of Aditya brings a lot of turn in Rajeev's life.

The book then moves by Rajeev working on to start his own business. He meet his love of life and the plot start taking turns and twist. One night completely changes Rajeev life into Rajiee. His life becomes miserable from them on. He had to undergo a lot of hardshi. What happened on the one particular night? How does Rajiv life affect because of that? Does his life changes?

The book is an answer to all this question. I love the book so much for its plot. The cover makes sence at the end. The title seems to be apt but I also feel that the bloody dream is much required for every man out there who think suppress the women’s in his life. Its a must read book to feed our mind on the importance socail need and concept.

Oo my, what did I just read! This book was totally unpredictable to say the least. The first part was heart breaking where you get to know how toxic a person can actually get (Rajan). My heart went out to Radha. The most heart rending part was when Rajeev turned out to be a replica. Rajan was the epitome of toxicity & snobbishness. Rajeev cooked for Radha atleast on her bday..that was a positive. Also what he did fir divya on her bday was a dream come true for many. But..other than that he was totally toxic. The loss of aditya was heartening but the message he left behind was lovely.

The highlight of this book for me was Radha. She was a wonderful strong woman who pursued her interests irrespective, who bloomed like a lotus in a filthy pond, making best use of resources she had, so motivating. Divya was my 2nd favorite but she always went weak & that infuriated me. Alas love can make you bend backwards.

Till now the story was like a reality bite but what came ahead was totally out of this world, unimaginable. I can't tell you, it would be a blooper, a spoiler but it was totally entertaining. I was laughing my heart out reading about what was happening to Rajiv. Although the author used 200% creative imagination here and his right to exercise it but the message came through clear and smooth. I wish we could do that to so many Rajeev and especially Rajan in our near and far circle. Anyways, the ending was perfect and a satiating one. All's well when a book gives the reader the feeling of reading a good read & having a great experience, time well spent.

The highlight for me is the message the book conveys;
- by Aditya: have your individuality, seek yourself
- by Radha: bloom where you are planted
- by Divya: be human, be kind even if someone has wronged you
- by Rajeev: you can always turn around & be a better person, only if you yourself want to.

And yes, as girls, women, ladies we go through a lot of pressures daily, mental, physical, psychological, societal and if we get a supportive & understanding friend/ partner then there's nothing more we would ask for. Girls financial independence foremost.

Eccentric, surreal, yet familiar world of Radha. In which, you dive in and always find something unusual yet connects with you so well.
A very unique novel about age-old concepts of male domination, love, patriarchy, chauvinism and social boundaries. The book is very craftly written indirectly attacking these social evils being practised yet till now in our society being unnoticed. The book represents the stories of each character so that we are well acquainted with their personalities and can be the judge to classify each consequence as fair or unfair on our part. The three main characters of the novel -Radha, Divya and rajee. They have a balance of an ecstatic and a traumatic life leading to a melancholic end.The Characters are just so realistic and full of life along with the beautiful writing style with the wonderful atmosphere built in just for the perfect book.Unfortunately the story goes through many ups and downs.
Rajeev, the protagonist, is determined and has a dream to build his own company, as desired by his friend Aditya.
Divya is Rajeev's love forever but he doesn't treat her right! Plot goes like- he loves her but doesn't respect her.Rajan, rajeev's father, who always dominated Radha
Radha, Rajeev’s mom, is an IIT gold medalist in Computer Engineering. She dreamt of taking over her father’s business empire. But the company was handed over to Rajan after she married him. After marriage, she had to sacrifice her dreams and was never allowed to get out of her home, because she was born as a woman. The twist comes when one fine morning Rajeev wakes up as a Girl. What happens next? Will life teach him how to treat women right even after many warnings?
I overall liked the book , its writing style, prose used, clever repetition of words, characters and its linkage with the actual reality of our society. Finally at the end we learn about what the Bloody Dreams was and why it has been termed like that.
This is profoundly amazing and the most exceptional book of all time and I would like to praise the author for his masterful skills in creating this book and bringing it to life.

No matter how much we progress the one thing which is not changing in society is domination. Society has its norms that change according to gender. No matter how educated, talented, and well-deserved you are but if you are a female you have restrictions and regulations. We see girls scoring the highest marks but after that, we never find them in higher positions or on a bigger stage because again society and dominance.

Radha is a gold medalist but married to an arrogant dominant jerk Rajan who was more interested in her father's wealth than Radha. Being a girl Radha was not selected to take over her father's business and Rajan being an opportunist grabbed it with both hands. Her life became dull but Rajeev's birth gave her hope. He was a typical momma's boy in the earlier stages but soon followed in his father's footsteps. He became the dominant shadow of his father and behaved proudly with his last love Divya, a beautiful, independent girl whose ambition was to be a great dancer.

Life was not very great for both the females but still, they managed to keep their relationships hard and strong. They made sure they achieve what they deserve but with hurdles all over.

One fine day Rajee entered Rajeev's life, she was going through a different phase of life but she became a boon for Rajeev. What happened all of a sudden? Who is she? Why Rajeev became submissive in front of her? Will she teach him the value of being a girl? Or does she become the next Radha or Divya? Rajee is a character that every person needs in life to understand the dilemma of a woman.

Omg 😱 what a fabulous twist, I am still shocked and intrigued after reading this phenomenal story. The author's imagination has the charming power to make an interesting story mind-blowing. Rajee - this character stole the show. Her entry changed the entire episode of Rajeev and his way of living.
This book is a must-read read without a doubt.

It's a tale of feminism being experienced by a boy.

Being in 2023 we may say that we are progressing and have broad mind. We may even pat our shoulders telling that we have equal rights. But it's not the case yet and we need to realise the male dominating society. Somewhere in the midst we are especially women are still being suppressed and treated submissive at some or the other instances in their day to day lives.

This book "Bloody Dreams" is a female centric book that includes many fascinating ideas and notions of this patriarchal society. And it transports the readers to a modern world which has ancient ideas and notions.

This book includes three main characters Rajeev, Divya and Rajee and also the other most important supportive character Radha.

Rajeev is the main protagonist who has been pampered and brought up by his father Rajan grows with the same idea of his father that women are born to serve the male and becomes aggressive in his behaviour. He never respected his mother not her unconditional love.

When Rajeev falls in love with Divya, as like his father he started treating Divya submissive by not allowing her to dance on stage and tried to dominate her in all nuances. Despite being stuck in a toxic relationship with Rajeev, Divya couldn't give up on her love.

One fine sudden night, after a fight with Divya, the drunken Rajeev goes to sleep. But here the plot gets twist and turn where the next morning Rajeev being turned as a girl, finds himself in an unknown society where no one remembers him as a boy except for Divya.

Rajeev being turned as Rajee started to understand the traumatic condition of women.

Who is Rajee? Why Rajeev turned as Rajee? Will he get back as a boy again? Will Rajee be the next Divya or Radha in Rajeev's life? Whether Rajee is a boon? Why Rajee is involved in Rajeev's family?

You should read the book to find out all these answers. Language is simple and it's a friendly read for beginners. And author has made sure that the readers are not confused with shift of plots. Each character in the story has a strong impact and justified their roles even it's a minor role.

Bloody Dreams

Author- Gopinath Lakshman

My Rating- ⭐⭐⭐⭐

My Review-

Even after so many changes in society there are some things that haven't changed much from years ago to now. Male domination is one of them. There might be some changes but it still prevails. This book shows the impact of male domination in a woman's life and also shows the transformation of a dominant man to a real man who understands women.

This book starts with Radha, an educated and beautiful young woman who was married to a man Rajan who just loved her father's property more than her and didn't care even in her labour pains. Radha gives birth to a beautiful boy Rajeev who's a mama's boy first but eventually changes the same as his father when he grows up.

Rajeev falls in love with a beautiful girl Divya who has a great passion in dance but gets dominated by the ruthless personality of him and isn't able to break the relationship with him. Why is she sticking with him despite his dominance? Will Rajeev be able to understand his mistake? Can Divya pursue her passion despite her dominant boyfriend?

When these questions are revolving in my mind a plot twist occurs where Rajee enters suddenly out of nowhere. Who is she? How is she going to change the lives of Rajeev and Divya? I'm not giving any spoilers so find it yourself by reading this book.

This book is very simple but it is able to let the readers go into deep thoughts. Author had created a unique story that most won't guess that actually. I thought it'll be a normal story where a girl fights for her passion and all but it's completely different.

This book amazingly pictured how a boy feels when he experiences the problems of girls. I like how he connects everything from start to end, building a great suspense and intriguing storyline. The language is simple so it's a good book for beginners too. The ending was also perfect enough to satisfy the title and the storyline.

Highly recommended!! Happy Reading 😊❤️…

This book entails an evocative, life-changing and soul stirring story where female characters surrounded with male dominance parochiality fight for their liberty.

Better said if consciousness emerges from within the oppressors then only it is of some relevance otherwise not and this story has beautifully depicted how a man feels when he experiences the problems of a woman.

In this story, the readers have a lot to learn, accept and imbibe about the growing importance of the freedom a woman equally deserves in society.

Rajeev’s mom, an IIT gold medalist in Computer Engineering and forced to confine herself behind the closed door paid the price of being born as a woman is one of the soul stirring instances we often come across.

The love equation between Rajeev and Divya also goes through such a fire-test of love vs freedom. Despite knowing the dominant nature of Rajeev, Divya isn't able to break the relationship with him. Can Divya pursue her passion in dance despite her dominant boyfriend?

This intriguing story has lots of suspenseful twists and turns in its plot and pragmatic theme in its plate to serve you. The story rightly shows the transformation of a parochial man to a better being who understands the importance of freedom must be given to a woman .

The language used in this book is legible and at the same time, the simplicity in the language and directness in the narration of the story is one of the specialities of this book. No doubt, it also leaves an indelible mark in the mind with its emotional and societal impacts and hence, the story is simply unforgettable and unputdownable.

This theme of this book is so modern and liberating for everyone especially for all the women who have remarkably taken up several roles and responsibilities at the same time. Overall, the book contains messages worth spreading everywhere. It's a must read. Do give it a read!

This story book provided you the extraordinary experience of seeing a male transform into a girl. This particular tale depicts a girl's or woman's lifelong struggle. On this subject, the author crafts a narrative and  he has a wonderful way of telling story. When I first begin to read this narrative, everything seems to be going smoothly, but once I get to the centre of it, everything completely changes. This narrative depicts every physical or psychological hardship a girl encounters throughout her life.
Radha, Divya, and Rajeev are the story's key characters. The narrative begins with Radha, a young mother who gave birth to a child named "Rajeev". Now let's talk about Rajan, the father of Rajeev, who comes out as a haughty figure because he shows little concern for Radha when she is through labour pains. Rajeev's advancing years have no effect on the plot. He comes from a well-off family. He is a handsome and diligent young man. He shares her father's haughty personality, nevertheless. He claims that women solely labour to care for their children and prepare food. As Rajeev gets older, he grows distant from Radha, her mother. Relationship between Radha and Rajan is equally poor. They don't communicate frequently. Rajeev has a lovely girlfriend named Divya as well. But due of his unruly conduct, Divya has occasionally been afraid of him. He wants Divya to stop dancing, which is what she loves to do. The story must now make a U-turn. Rajeev discovered that he had changed into a girl. He experienced a lot of humorous things but he also witnessed a girl struggling with a woman's body. When someone stalks or looks at her, he feels uneasy and afraid. Is Rajeev returning to his own body this time? Or else he stays a girl. There is an astonishing twist at the conclusion of the story.

Dreams... Women...
That's what this book is about.
A family consisting of a father, mother and son... Father considers himself a king. The son is like a prince. So, the mother should be a queen, right? No... You are wrong. She is an invisible figure.
Two couples...
Rajan and Radha - married
Rajeev and Divya - may or may not get married.
Marriage is not important here. What matters is their relationship. Both relationships are different but at the same time similar too.

I read this book in one sitting and let me tell you one thing. This book illustrated the plight of women in most houses. Their dreams are shattered and they have no voice. When Radha heaved a sigh of relief for giving birth to a boy doesn't mean that she did not like a girl. It's because she didn't want her child to go through tough times like her.

People would say that tough times may make you strong. Maybe yes. But what should we do about the "traumas"?

This book manages to keep the reader on its radar with its narration. It was like I was listening to a story being told. Someone was reading out to me, but I couldn't stop listening. That's what I felt. I loved the way it was narrated. The book is fast-paced with no unwanted things. The author has only kept what is needed for the progress of the story but still managed to keep us amused.
I loved Radha. I felt bad for her and I don't know whether Divya actually loves Rajeev. All I could feel was a little bit of sympathy and gratitude from her for Rajeev.
I loved Arithri!!! A wonderful and strong character!
The book also shows how women lose what they deserve just because some people think they aren't strong enough.
And... the character development 👏👏👏

Rather than enjoying reading this book, what I felt was pity and empathy.

Will I recommend this book?
Yes

Bloody dreams
By: Gopinath Lakshmanan
Length: 264 pages
.
Radha had the ambition of being a businesswoman, but her marriage made her a captive. Her only fault was that she got married to Rajan, a male chauvinist. After marriage, she was never allowed to get out of her home, destroying her dreams, just because she was born as a woman.
When she gave birth to Rajeev, who had inherited his father’s personality.
A beautiful and intellectual girl, Divya, who aspires to become a great dancer and her entrance changes the impact of Rajeev’s life.
What impact did Divya make in Rajeev’s life?
Will Rajeev be able to leave that male chauvinism behind and acknowledge Divya and Radha ?
To know do read the book
.
Women have created their space... that space which was always there for men; women have fought for that space.
A society where male chauvinism is very prominent is depicted by the author, and that depiction is simply brilliant. The sense that is there in the minds of men that they are superior to women as depicted in the book becomes unbearable. We may not have seen all these things, but these things are still prominent in some societies. There still are some societies where men with there false sense of superiority doesnot even consider women's rights and hats-off to the author for presenting the women's struggle for survival in such a male chauvinistic society in such a realistic way.
Talking about the language of the book, it is not bombastic but rather simple and easily understandable. The author has chosen the words very precisely, and the scenes are depicted very well. The title is apt and suggestive, and the book cover is so eye-catching. Narration is a bit fast-paced but delivers the message very well. The book is interesting and engaging and hooks the readers till the very end.
Highly recommended, and you ought to read this book.✨️

Gopinath Lakshmanan's book, "Bloody Dreams," is a deep dive into relationships, dreams, and how society's rules can complicate things. The story revolves around Rajeev, who experiences a big change and becomes a woman. This transformation makes Rajeev see the world in a new way, especially the challenges women face. The story is full of emotions and takes us through the complexities of human connections.

The author does a great job of connecting the lives of Rajeev, Divya, and Radha. They show us how control can harm relationships. Divya is a talented dancer, but Rajeev's controlling ways limit her dreams. This shows how power dynamics affect personal aspirations. The author's writing is powerful and makes us think about things like gender bias, emotions, and what society expects from us.

One of the best parts of the book is how well the characters are developed. Each person has a unique personality that we can relate to. Rajeev's change helps us understand the struggles of women, while Divya's determination adds depth. Radha's frustrations are portrayed with empathy, showing how societal norms can hold back accomplished women.

The book "Bloody Dreams" grabs our attention right away and keeps it throughout the story. The pacing is fast, making sure we stay engaged. It makes us think about empathy, personal growth, and how gender roles affect us. The book challenges us to question these roles and work towards a fairer society.

Tackles heavy societal issues such as male chauvinism and the suppression of female dreams and aspiration.

"Bloody Dreams," penned by author Gopinath Lakshmanan, is a fascinating tale that seamlessly weaves together the lives of various characters, each with their own aspirations and challenges. Through its protagonist, Rajeev, a fiercely determined individual with dreams to start a company and his love interest, Divya, a talented classical dancer, it explores the dynamics of their relationship against the backdrop of these themes.

The relationship between Divya and Rajeev is characterized by his consistent efforts to control her life, reflecting the deeply engrained male chauvinism he inherited from his father. The notable question concerning their relationship is Divya's acceptance of Rajeev's restrictive nature and lack of independence.
The evolution and understanding of dreams in a woman's life is depicted through Radha and Divya's parallel yet contrasting narratives. Simultaneously, Rajee, a young and charming girl, acts as the catalyst driving progression and change in Rajeev's narrow mindset.

"Bloody Dreams" is an exploration of dreams, personal and societal barriers, and the journey of individuals overcoming these to achieve their aspirations. While it questions why Divya tolerates Rajeev's controlling nature, the book offers a deeper message about women's dreams and their constant struggle for liberation in a patriarchal society.

The book is an exploration of human resilience and determination against societal constraints, especially regarding female characters who resist their prescribed roles. In conclusion, Gopinath Lakshmanan's "Bloody Dreams" is a refreshing tale that handles its themes head-on, providing readers with a thoughtful exploration of societal norms, dreams, and struggle.

This book is all about women, and it highlights many intriguing concepts and ideas about this patriarchal culture that we all live in. Additionally, it takes readers to a contemporary setting with antiquated concepts and ideals. This book will force you to consider a wide range of issues, many of which revolve around the same conundrum: why don't women receive the same respect and honour as they deserve? Is this due to a society that is dominated by men? When will this influence fade, or will men begin to understand the suffering and struggles that women endure?

This book tells the story of a woman's misery brought on by her violent husband and the mental anguish she experiences when she becomes pregnant. This book explores the intricacies of relationships, aspirations, and the long-lasting effects of social conventions. It is quite compelling.

The story centres on Rajeev, the resolute protagonist, whose unflinching goal to launch his own business is inspired by his friend Aditya. The narrative of the story changes when Divya enters Rajeev's life and things get passionate; then the story explores the depths of male chauvinism, poisonous relationships, and the fallout from previous family dynamics.

The author has succeeded in underscoring the most significant but frequently disregarded social issue by skillfully expressing all the feelings in a very nuanced way. The writing is clear, and the language used in it allows readers to understand a woman's suffering.

All things considered, it's a fascinating book that gives us a fresh perspective on dreams, relationships, and how society shapes us. For individuals who wish to learn about empathy, development, and the impact of gender norms, this book is a must-read because of its original plot, compelling characters, and thought-provoking subjects.

Book: Bloody dreams
Author : Gopinath
Genre: Fiction

Rajan was someone who always abused his wife Radha, both physically and mentally. She was pregnant and he wanted a boy. She was in deep pain and even her maid Sundari wasn't available. she was taken to the hospital and she gave birth to a boy. Rajeev grew up and attend school with Aditya and something terrible happens Aditya dies and which upsets Rajeev. But Rajeev turns out to be a different person. He treated Divya even on her birthday he didn't spare her. And later that day his dad brings a ring and tells him about a bride who would suit Rajeev. But Rajeev interprets him and tells him he's in love with a girl called Divya.
But Divya unaware of this is happily waiting for her dance performance as her role model is going to be the guest. To her bad, he texts her to meet him at the airport and for once she made her decision to choose herself. She performed and stole the show and that's when Rajeev shows up and ruins her day. Divya recalled their first meeting and how it all began. Rajeev did seem like a gentleman.

Oh my god, and part 2 is nail-biting. I don't even want to give you readers Anu spoilers. Just read it for yourselves. Rajeev is just realizing a lot and is paying for all his mistakes. But then all of a sudden Rajee goes missing and when filed a case the inspector says there was no one as such. And Rajeev calls her and asks Divya to forget him as he's married. But then so many strange things happen. Although I could guess the ending it still intrigued me. What an amazing narration! Karma, no doubt is true!!
The title is highly justified.
And this read will remain close to my heart forever as I enjoyed it thoroughly!

There might have been a time when the world was male centric but in the name of feminism or egalitarian system , it is as matriarchial as it can get in today's era. The data since 2014 is horrifying. About 70% registered rape cases turned out to be fake and with more biased laws like Marital Rape coming into picture, such figures are only going to see an upward trend. Still there are many authors who are stuck to the age old themes showing their central characters as male chauvinist while females as some kind of godly incarnation is difficult to digest and doesn't impress me much. This novel is based on one such theme.

The story predominantly revolves around Rajeev who harbours huge ambitions and has a dream to make it big in life. His love interest Divya is a talented classical dancer. Then there are Rajan and Radha , Rajeev's parents. As mentioned both the male protagonists are shown as vultures who only want to dominate while the females as some kind of angels. Though it might be true upto an extent in our parents generation but seeing today's world the portrayal cannot get more wrong than this.

The plot presents nothing new and kind of beats around the bush for most part. There are some instances though that offers some respite like the change of heart of Rajeev and comprehending the pains his mother has taken to raise him up . But the problem with the tale is it lacks depth and connectivity factor . Had it shown the other side of spectrum too which people like Dipika Narayan Bhardwaj are showing through her Instagram page every now and then, the story could have been much more impactful and relatable.

All in all the same age old tale served on a new platter.

Our society has not treated men and women equally. Women have suffered a lot throughout the ages and are still suffering due to gender disparities. The book, Bloody Dreams written by Gopinath Lakshmanan deals with this subject in a novel way without preaching much and through an effective and captivating story.
The story is of Rajeev, who has been brought up in a home and a society where women including mothers are not given any recognition or importance. He does not think much of his mother or women in general. He, just like millions of men around the world, feels that women are inferior and they should not try to be equal to men. This ideology hurts Divya, who is in love with him. Rajeev is always trying to dominate and control the life of Divya and making decisions on her behalf. Divya, who is a classical dancer is forbidden to perform on stage but still, Divya continues to love Rajeev and tries to make things right with her career.
Everything changes when Rajeev’s life is transformed. He gets to see how women are mistreated, viewed as an object and denied the opportunities which men are easily given. Rajeev will face many challenges due to this transformation and will have to experience these gender disparities first-hand. How this transformation will change him and his outlook towards women in her family and women in general? Will he realize how wrong he was in treating them as a possession, a mere property? To know the answers, you will have to read this engrossing story which effectively tackles the gender roles and their disparities in our society. A well-intentioned and equally very well-executed book which will give you a lot of food for thought. Don’t miss this one.

The protagonist of the story is Radha, a stunning woman who gives birth to Rajeev. The story's lead character is Rajeev. Rajeev, the main character, is a well-known businessman like his father Rajan. Rajeev and his devoted mother have a close relationship in his early years, but over time, their relationship deteriorates. Despite Rajeev's kindness on the inside, he struggles with rage. He is in a relationship with Divya, a gorgeous and gifted Bharatanatyam dancer. However, when Rajeev reacts adversely to Divya's pursuit of her dance goals, resulting in a hurtful incident, their relationship takes a turn for the worst. When Rajeev awakens the following morning in a different home after being changed into a girl, the plot suddenly takes an unexpected turn. Even in this new shape, Divya is the only person who can identify him. Rajeev learns from his mistakes and regrets how he treated Divya as he deals with the difficulties of being a girl and the problems women encounter. But destiny steps in, and Rajeev discovers that he is unable to change back into his natural shape. When Rajeev wakes up again as a person and realises everything was a dream, I was incredibly satisfied with the finale. Unexpected twists in the story's progression keep readers interested. This narrative is outstanding; it explores unforeseen events and the difficulties encountered by women in society. I wholeheartedly recommend reading it. These components are expertly incorporated by the author to create a fantastic story. I admire the author for creating such an engrossing tale with unexpected twists and for bringing attention to the challenges women face. I heartily recommend this book to others and had a great time reading it myself.

“It never hurts to any woman”
(This line is enough to show the real situation of a woman)

The world is developing very rapidly but we all are very well aware with this fact that somewhere women are still struggling, this book is truly showing the challenges and struggles of a woman! I recommend this book to everyone, especially the men, please dare to read this book , it will definitely change you pov for your wife, for your mother, for your sister or for every woman existing in this world!

The story centers around Rajeev, a determined protagonist with dreams of building his own company, and his toxic relationship with Divya, a talented classical dancer. He doesn’t want to let her dance at all. Divya's unwavering dedication to her passion for dance despite Rajeev's controlling nature showcases her strength and ambition.

Rajeev's chauvinistic behavior mirrors that of his father, Rajan, who dominated his mother, Radha, throughout her life. Radha's unfulfilled dreams and the restrictions placed on her just bcz she was a woman, add depth to the narrative and shed light on the challenges faced by women in society. Hats off to the author for bringing such powerful story in everyone’s recognization !

I really loved the second part of this book when The story takes u turn with introduction of Rajee. Im not going to reveal about her, as I want to write a spoiler free review lol x

The author's writing style is engaging, with vivid descriptions that bring the story to life. The pacing is well-balanced, keeping readers hooked from beginning to end.

The book raises important questions about gender roles, control, and the pursuit of personal aspirations. It explores the themes of love, ambition, and the power of self-discovery.

How is it for a woman to live in the men's world? What happens if a man becomes a woman? Will it be easier, or will he realize how life treats the other side? The concept of the book 'Bloody Dreams' by Gopinath Lakshmanan follows this string of thought. It revolves around the characters Rajeev and Divya and Rajeev's mother, Radha. Having faced atrocities at the hands of Rajeev's father, Radha was distraught when he saw his son going along the same line. When Rajeev starts giving the same treatment to his other half, Divya, he is in for a very drastic change. He wakes up as a woman, and only Divya recognizes his true self.

The concept is really amazing, although I can't call it entirely unique. It feels very similar to the 'Men's World' series on YouTube. I distinctly remember it since it made such a huge impact on me, and reading almost the same idea in book form is simply amazing. I liked how the book speaks of generational abuse—a son learning how to treat women from his father. It is more a reality than a fiction. It showed an authentic picture since a person's thoughts and actions are a reflection of their upbringing. But I also appreciated that Rajeev wasn't shown as completely evil; he had, at times, been a dream man for Divya. It didn't demonize men but rather displayed the vices of society that mold such men.

I fully emerged in the plot and was angry at several of Divya's actions. She was too soft or engaged in his actions more than she should. While I absolutely adore Radha and her strong will. I do recommend this book with a note to read between the lines and understand the inner depth of the book.

Bloody Dreams by Gopinath Lakshmanan is an engrossing novel that explores the plight of women in our patriarchal society. It’s not an all-women story, yet its female characters cast an indelible influence on the plotline.
As the novel starts, we see that Radha, a brilliant computer graduate has to relinquish her dream of running an IT company due to his dominating husband, Rajan.
Like father, Radha’s son Rajeev too turns out the same maverick who takes women’s respect for granted. Since birth he is leading a privileged life of luxuries. He pursues IT dreams with investments and startups. His girlfriend Divya is a classic dancer who teaches to children and often participates in shows. However, this doesn’t go well with him. He asserts a pile of hubris, prejudice, and dominion over Divya. The girl suffers silently.
In the middle of the story, one night in a drinking state when Rajeev sleeps, his world changes drastically. He is now a girl called Rajee. He has a different mother, a different society to live in, no one recognizes him. He is miserable…and the real pain is that he is a girl. So, he begins feeling what traumatic life women go through. The story turns anti-clockwise, from male domination to male misery. The story as ‘Rajee’ is intense, full of struggle and pain.
The novel is message driven: respect women. The storyline is solid with a good cast of characters. The author kept the story balanced with brilliant narration of events and subplots. It’s a different and innovative novel towards the betterment and empowerment of women across the globe. Highly recommended!
