The job title was housekeeper, not fiancée! But billionaire cattleman Kirk Deverill couldn't throw the lovely single mom off his ranch. Especially when he knew the job would help her keep her son. Of course, the eligible bachelor hadn't expected her to tell everyone she was also Kirk's bride-to-be!
He agreed to Vanessa's ruse for her adorable son's sake. And for the opportunity to claim some "husbandly" pleasures. Of course, making their fake engagement a real union was never going to happen. The Outback loner had his reasons…and even the most desirable of women wouldn't get him to change his mind.
I have to say that I pretty much blame my mother for all this. If my dear Mum wasn't an avid reader of romance, then I might not have fallen in love with romance novels myself. And then I wouldn't have decided to write my own romances. Thanks Mum!
Of course, I never thought it would take me 20 years before I saw my first piece de résistance in print. Perhaps I wouldn't even have tried, but you know, I think I still would have reached for my dream. Romance novels offer such wonderful affirmations about love and relationships that I can't imagine not wanting to share my stories with others.
I currently live in Melbourne, Australia but over the years have travelled to New Zealand, the UK, and the USA. In my own backyard, my husband’s job ensured we saw the diversity of the countryside, from the tropics to the outback, country towns to the cities. I find it very fitting that I sold my first manuscript on January 26th 2006, which is Australia Day in my country.
Since that fateful day I have had 12 books published, selling almost a million and a half copies worldwide in as many as 17 languages. I'm also published in short stories worldwide in national magazines.
I am married to Geoff, who has proven his hero status many times over the years. We have two handsome sons and an assortment of previously abandoned animals.
I'm always happy to hear from my readers. For me, it really is a pleasure to be here.
I got bored with this one - I really felt like the scene was set back in the 50's/60's. The only thing that really told me it was an up to date romance was the use of cell phones and fax machines otherwise I really wouldn't have known.
I usually find Ms Sullivan a bit tame and the love/sex scenes a bit fluffy but she does usually write a good story but this one was slow and in my opionion really shouldn't have been in the Desire collection.
I hate leaving a book unfinished so I plowed on but it was a struggle and I really did feel like abandoning it.
Protagonistas: Kirk Derevill y Vanessa Hamilton Argumento:
The writing was good, but way too over the top unreal with everything that happens in a week. Too instalovey even for me. Both characters ran hot and cold all the time. I did, however, love the way Kirk treated her son. He always makes sure everything is okay with him and helps her with him regardless of anything else.
O.......k. That just stopped abruptly, felt like you got tossed from a swing. Many not real problems. Those heroine’s in laws were a piece of work and should have been the major issue that the couple had to overcome. Don’t think the heroine loved her first husband, just sayin. But nothing special about the hero. Liked the locations. But not a lot else. Skip.
Australian story, outback the setting, venessa was a widow with a 6 month old baby boy. Derek was the owner of a large ranch and Venessa went to work for him as his housekeeper. One thing leads to another and love happens
I don’t know why I finished this book. It was not well written to begin with, and the characters and their motivations were sort of all over the place.
Vanessa has already lost her husband, and her in-laws are threatening to take away her son. Trying to put some distance between them, she starts to work for Kirk. Sparks fly form the beginning between them. Kirk has been used by women before, and he believes Vanessa is trying to use him too.
I liked this book more than the typical Harlequins.Maybe because Kirk wanted to let Vanessa go because he wasn't able to give her what she wanted the most.A big family. He is sterile so he can't have children. This isn't like the normal Harlequin books.
Honestly a lot of things irked me about this book, the main thing being that she kept going back to betraying her very dead husband! and the guys cynicism was unfounded all in all they made for an annoying couple.. but I like that him being sterile didn't magically get cured or wasn't a mistake!

Added this to my library while I was on the waiting list for another book. It was cute, short, fast, but still cute. I'm used to getting stuck in series and it was nice to take a break.
