This book is a nice overview of a lot of financial topics, but you'll need more help to actually put it into practice. I was confused by all the investment and insurance terms, but it's enough to get me interested in finding about. There's also plenty of grandfatherly advice about money and other topics.
It is a brief overview of personal finance. The last third of the book makes the argument that “good” life choices are part of the author’s realm of expertise because life choices will affect one’s financial situation in some way. It felt like he stepped out of his area of expertise several times and the book was heavy with one very narrow interpretation of experience. I wouldn’t recommend it— but the first part served well to convince me to do further research and get into the details of my own personal finance.
this book is a practical guide to help you on life's journey for retirement. About every page the author notes to seek out legal advice where applicable...but the author succeeds in giving the average non Financial planner a view of how the industry does things and how to judge wide ranging decisions like which insurance company to go with etc. It is full of wit and wisdom and is needed for today.
This is a fantastic book about finances. It is easy to ready and understand. I would recommend this book to everyone. The author is amazing and gives real examples to help you understand the concepts he is talking about. He also happens to be my dad. =D
