Johann Nepomuk Christoph Friedrich von Schmid was a writer of children's stories, educator, and Roman Catholic priest. His stories were very popular and translated into many languages. His best-known work in the English-speaking world is The Basket of Flowers (Das Blumenkörbchen).
I actually listened to the audio of this, but it is AMAZING. The Unexpected Return is one of the most impacting books I have read. I really enjoyed it because I have not read much on the French Revolution besides Les Meserables. This is excellent for French lovers. The Christian beliefs are strong and encouraging, and God's presence never fails, as in real life. The faith of children in this story encourage me to have faith more largely in my own life. =) Christoph von Schmid is one of my favorite authors.
I thought the story was really good and I think the Lamplighter Theatre audios are amazing. They have sounds effects and everything. It's just like listening to an Adventures and Odyssey almost.
