When a heart breaks, it shatters quietly;and the falling pieces cling to one's sanity, pulling the mind into confusion, disillusion and a state of being. . .quietly crazy. Once in a while a book comes along that crosses all boundaries of reader appeal. This is such a book.
I heard all the big hype about this book from a friend of mine, who turns out to be Monika Basile's niece, and she asked if i wanted to read it. Usually i don't always read the books I'm told about, but im glad i read this one. This book, was amazing, you know how i can tell? Because i felt every emotion able to be felt, and it wasn't small feelings, ,i felt the need to intervene in the character's lives to help. I absolutely wanted to slap Romeo's mother multiple times( forgive me if i get names w wrong, it's been a few months since ihave read the book), and when those girls did what they did to the main character, my gosh i wanted to save her myself. Monika Basile is, no doubt about it, a very talented writer who can cause the readers to feel as if the characters are their own best friends. I would recommend this book to anyone who can take a sad story and is able to have a box of tissues near by. I can't wait to see what other books she has to come.
Oh why didn't anyone tell me about this gem years ago? Quietly crazy by Monika M Basile was a one day full box of kleenex read. I have to say it was not what I expected and I was pleasantly surprised. Ms. Basile's writing is rich and her characters are amazing. I do not want to give anything away but be prepared......this is a tearjerker!
I've read this book probably ten times already, and honestly I can't wait to read it again!! This isn't typically the genre that I enjoy reading and usually struggle through books like this, but from the second I picked it up I could not put it down. Each time I read it I am moved to tears by the story; the emotion that this book brings me never lessens with the number of times I've read it.
My mom gave me this book because she knew the author or someone connected to her because she lived in my town. Was a bit slow to start but then it became hard to put down. Definitely a strong novel despite a few editing errors here and there.
