The fact that I can't find this book in the database confirms its niche market. However, it's a luxurious hardback, populated with superb photos of the lake district past and present and the men (and women) of iron who've farmed there and run feats of spectacular endurance around its landscape over the years. Joss Naylor, the subject of the book is a man whose feats of endurance defy the imagination of anyone except those who have tried similar things. 72 peaks in less than 24 hours. Seriously. The book is not a list of stats though. It's a tribute to the man, the Lake District and to fell running itself. It's far from a work of literary genius - but I am not sure that matters. Richardson is from Keswick himself and there is a degree of authenticity that comes from the fact he is not some slick-penned outsider from London. I borrowed the copy I read from Nightingale.
