Tall, blond, and oozing power like no man Charlie has ever met before, Jocelyn Ayer seems bent on turning her life upside down. She has little choice in yielding to his commands, not when she is threatened by a fanged maniac and Jocelyn is the only one with the strength to stop him. The last thing a vengeful six-hundred-year-old vampire wants is to fall in love with a young art major. Still, he cannot ignore the passion and love Charlie ignites inside him. She is the only one who can soothe the pain in his soul and resurrect the man hidden beneath the monster. Note: This book was previously released from another e-publisher. It has been revised for new release by Ellora's Cave
I am not a fan of vampire stories. This book wasn’t what I expected. I tried it as the description gave me a different view of the book.
Even though vampires are not my favourite, these characters are well written. The use of male female names for the opposite gender can be confusing at times.
I haven’t read any other books in the series which may be why I couldn’t get into the story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I tried to like this book. Hell, I tried to finish it. But after more than half-way through, I couldn't deal any longer. My rather long list of annoyances: the gender-bending names (she's Charlie, he's Jocelyn), the complete lack of anything to do with the other books in the Ancient Blood series, the walking personality disorder that is Charlie, the 1000-year old vampire that feels the need to wrestle with a college football jock, the need to ask permission to enter a dwelling, feeding off a freakin' dog, etc., etc. The most annoying thing, however, was Charlie discussing vampire poop, complete with reference to aroma. I thought I lost it there. I haven't given up on this series, though, just on this book.
