*From a Christian perspective of someone who isn't afraid to admit she's flawed and continually falls short*

Our small group leader chose this book for our latest study and I'm so glad she did. Whether you find the content in this book introductory in some of its concepts or valuable for its reminders (and in reframing perspective), the importance of intentionality in a marriage is indisputable. Even the act of reading this book is movement in a positive direction and if you're seeking to make your marriage the best it can be, I would wholeheartedly recommend this quick read. I felt convicted more than once but also eager to better love my spouse. It's relatable and filled with good advice (like...seek council that's for your marriage, not just for you) and I appreciated that that it's written with nonjudgemental empathy.

And, I actually listened and loved the author-narrated audiobook!

Add this one to your arsenal if you're ready to take accountability and take steps forward to a more fulfilling and selfless relationship with your spouse.

We are using this book for a couples’ study at church. It’s an excellent read - would be really helpful to use as part of pre-marital counseling sessions!

One of the best marriage resources I’ve ever read- and I’ve read a lot. It’s a quick read with easy to understand, doable concepts.

I like that this book centered on how to have a great marriage as opposed to how to survive marriage, repair a marriage, or resolve conflict like most marriage books. It also isn’t sexist which is unfortunately hard to find among Christian marriage books. Many of the concepts are rooted in science and common sense and not overly spiritual.

Anyone could benefit from the principals addressed even if you aren’t Christian and even if you already think your marriage is doing well.

Unconditional Love

This book is very easy to read and to understand. In our relationship with our spouse, we are to model the unconditional love Jesus has for each of us. We all have our “Freds” that, if allowed, will control us in ways that take in a direction of not being the men and women God designed us to be. I loved the simple, straightforward way of triumphing over our “Freds” and becoming much closer to being the person God designed. Doing that together in a marriage relationship can clearly turn a difficult marriage into the joy God intended it to be.

This is one of the best books I read in 2022. It was short and impactful. I read it on a quick getaway with my wife and then she read it right after me. That is great advice that is still sticking with me months after reading it.

Great book on marriage and very practical. Bought this book after a marriage conference and it was a good reminder of the practices taught by Ted during the conference. I could see reading this annually.
