This is the twelfth book in the delightful Connie Cafe Mystery Series.
After having read quite a few of the books in this series I've come to feel as if the inhabitants of these pages could be people I would love to have in my own life and I always enjoy spending time with them. And even though the title of the series is the Connie Cafe Mystery Series, there really isn't usually a deep, dark mystery involved. Mainly a missing piece of property, a minor theft, or a problem with a tourist in town. What this series truly is, is a highly uplifting and delightful opportunity to spend time with these characters who have begun to feel like friends one would enjoy having in real life. And I am always impressed by an author who is not afraid to put her faith in and dependence on God front and center in her books. Connie never forces her beliefs on anyone who comes into the cafe and Ms. Marple does the same with her readers. It is simply who she is and she's not afraid to show it. Each book is such an uplighting break from some of the darker and more twisted reading that is available today. I always enjoy the break I get when I visit Coffee Creek..I highly recommend you visit as soon as possible. I think you will enjoy it as much as I do. I received a review copy from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion.
What a wonderful book. This book is very fast paced with a little smiles, a mystery and a little heartbreak and you can't put this book down once you begin. Connie not only has her cafe to tend to and trust her employee, she is also planning her wedding to Ted. Things are not as easy that they may seem, no matter how organized you are. Connie stops by Mabel's antique shop and Mabel offers Connie a special book that helped her when she was married all those years ago. When she goes to look for the book, she can't find it at first so she tells Connie to come back and she'll give her the book. When Connie returns to Mabel's shop, she asks her about the book and Mabel denies she said anything about giving Connie the book, but she denies she even has such a book. What is going on? Is something wrong with Mabel? With so much going on, this is just one more thing on her plate as she tries to get things together for her upcoming wedding. I love the characters in this book and can empathize with Connie's dealing with Mabel, it's so sad. I love this series and can't wait to see what will happen next! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This was an enjoyable book. It was fast paced and action filled. Connie Cafe is making preparations for her upcoming wedding. She visits her friend and former enemy, Mable McDonald, at Mable's antique store. Mable tells her that she will give her a marriage advice book that she had received herself as a new bride. Mable shows her the book and says the next time she sees Connie, she will give her the book. When Connie sees Mable a few days later, not only is the book missing from the antique store, but Mable has no memory of ever having owned the book in the first place. What is going on? Find out by reading this engaging mystery. I highly recommend it to other mystery readers. I received an ARC of this book, and the opinion expressed is strictly my own.
I have enjoyed every book in the Connie Cafe series. This story hit closer to home for me. My Nan passed from Alzheimer's about 14 yrs ago. My mother has mild cognitive impairment & my stepmother is probably in the beginning stages of Dementia. All firms of memory loss/issues. It's sad to watch loved ones struggle with remembering things. It was hard not to cry when you made it known that Mable was suffering memory loss. I look forward to reading more about the friends of Coffee Creek.
A lot of planning and preparations are ahead for Connie. Beside planning for a wedding, there is still the growth of the coffee cafe, delegation of responsibilities there, and trusting in her decisions. A good sub-plot of characters concerning a book of marital advice. I enjoyed reading the book and look forward to the wedding! I was provided with an advanced copy of the book, this review is my honest opinion.
This author has a way with words, A way of guiding the storyline, along a very specific route to share her own Enlightenment through storytelling. This particular book struck a very deep chord within me and left me very emotional. I have enjoyed this entire series, and especially the journey of Connie’s awakening into her spiritual self.
As always the books in this series are warm, comforting reads with excellent messages. I enjoyed learning more about Mable’s backstory and look forward to reading more about the lovely characters in these books. You never know what someone else is dealing with until you take the time to reach out with love and caring.
I received as an arc and I just love Connie Cafe books. Once you start you don't want to put them down. I lie that instead of a body found that her mother schooled her on the Proverbs 31 woman as well as her learning about Mable. This was a very inciteful book on both the Proverbs 31 and the metion and discovery on dementia.
Connie is engaged and beginning to plan her wedding. With her mother's help, she is also preparing to be a wife by reading scripture, proverbs 31. As she moves through her daily life, she learns a huge secret and grows as she learns to deal with these new revelations. This is a sweet easy read and very uplifting.
I am always happy when I am entertained by a mystery and also learn a few life lessons I am currently challenged with. Connie didn't have a murder to solve but was guided to find a missing book of Mable's. Connie and her mom also dove into Proverbs 31 since she is wanting to marry her cop boyfriend. Definitely enlightening stuff.
I enjoyed how all of the characters showed such compassion for a woman with the beginning of Dementia. After living through dementia with my mother, I appreciated reading about a town that was willing to help and watch over a friend in need.
Looking for a lost item and making a new friend. Connie gets caught up in searching for a lost book. Along the way, she makes a new friend and solves another mystery.
