Rate this book

We find .. Laila's last case as Child Protective Services is taking an adorable six month old Grayson to his unsuspecting new guardian after being orphaned. His parents were killed in an auto accident if i remember correctly....Billionaire Marc Campbell .. is preparing to leave on a cruise the next morning with his family heading for Greece....when Laila informs him he is the chosen Guardian for little Grayson he is in shock....He learns his college buddy and wife were killed in an accident and named him as their childs guardian. What is he going to do with a bairn?? ... He is heading off for a six week family cruise to secretly get his father treatment... Marc needs help immediately he makes a few calls to get this situation squared away. Laila offers her services as a joke and Marc jumps at the chance to hire her. What could go wrong on a private cruise??? so off they all go she heads home to square things and sublet her apt overnight .. (fast action here )

As the story gets going we find the two characters find themselves in a hot as Heckie attraction, meddling family members, and jaded past for both of them...... this isn't your typical vacation dreams. Everything turns after so many weeks of companionship and growing closer to one another as she overhears Marc and His Mom.... discussing how he is feeling unsure about raising Grayson and then she compares him to her cheating ex. When did the dynamics of employer and employee change?? Can either or both realize what's in front of them before it's too late?? Great characters that compliment each other when they let their guards down. His/her POV, no cheating between main characters, no cliffhanger. I truly enjoyed reading the story slow to start but once they are embarking toward Greece things take a turn and it gets quite interesting! ... I Liked the story wasn't a thrilling 4 star for me tho... IT DOES end with a HEA

This was more enjoyable the I thought it would be after reading the first chapter. I had no clue what the story going into this was, and once I found it was basically a spin on a single-father/nanny situation I was a little hesitant but it all worked out. The development felt super organic, the progression was done at a steady pace, it had my giggle a few times.

That being said, the MMCis Scottish and the dialogue between him and his family was hard to understand at times. Also I thought to myself “he’s to nice” like four times. In addition, I really disliked the FMC at times, she was one of those who looked for the worst in people, and she overemphasized the value in certain things. This could have gotten a four, but I found she could have “grown” a little more in the end. Also it’s fade to black people!!!

Leslie North has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Laila and Marcus. Laila had just lost her job at the Association of Child Services. She was laid off due to cutbacks. She had one last thing to do before she left. She takes six-month-old Grayson to his godfather Marcus. When she gets to Marcus and tells him who she is and why Marcus is shocked to learn that he is now responsible for Grayson. He tells her that it couldn't come at a worst time. He and his family are going on a six-week vacation. He asks her to watch Grayson while he makes a few phone calls. When he comes back, she tells him that she knew he needed time and she could set Grayson up in a foster home. He tells her no. She looks at him kind of funny and he tells her that he has help. His parents are there but just out on the town. She asked if they would help while on the cruise. He said "That wouldn't be fair since it was a vacation. He would need to find a nanny for the cruise. He only had eighteen hours to do it before launch. She laughed and said that he had someone with experience with kids and who was unemployed and he didn't even need eighteen hours. He tells her she is hired. She tells him that he can't do that since he doesn't know her. They talk for a few minutes and then he hires her. When they get to the yacht the next morning, she is shocked to find out it belongs to Marcus. She decides then that she can't get involved with Marcus because he reminds her of her ex-fiance, Brian. Brian tried to take over her life and she is not going to let another man do that. She has a plan and with this job, it works well for what she wants. Things don't go the way she wants them to. She and Marc spend time together with Grayson. She falls for him and him her but there is one member of his family that doesn't like him being with her. Marc knows she needs to get back for the interview with the community center but he adds a stop to the cruise and she finds out he did this and gets mad. She feels like he did it so that she would miss the interview. Laila and Marc get into a big argument and she accuses him of doing what Brian did. They end up splitting up and he sets it up so she can get back home. Laila gets the job that she wanted and she is happy now that she gets to help people that need it. Marc knows that he messed up and his family gets involved in getting him back with Laila. His uncle tells him some things that make him think. He goes back home and then goes to volunteer at the community center. Laila sees that he is trying to see what she does and she gives him credit for it. She thinks that she judged him wrong. She goes to talk to him and finds him helping one of the kids that comes to the center. After their talk, he asked, "Could she give him another chance?"
Will things work out between Laila and Marc?

The strong characters come from different vantages in life. Laila grew up in the foster care system and does not take anything for granted. Marc comes from a wealthy family who take care of each other. When an infant is left with Marc, he hires Laila to take care of the baby. She finds his family atmosphere everything she wanted. They teach other things they overlooked. They fight the attraction that burns between them. Leslie North always writes a story with burning chemistry and just enough tension that makes you flip the pages until the end of the book.

I received a free ARC of this book and am leaving a voluntary and honest review.

Her Billionaire Boss was a good read. I enjoyed every moment I spent reading it, and I never wanted to put it down.

I thought that the characters were well-written, the plot was thought through and there weren't very many issues I had with anything. I liked that the baby, Grayson, was prominent throughout the story, and not just the Thing that brings the two leads together in the beginning. But there were moments when it wasn't just building a relationship between Laila and Marc, but building a relationship between Grayson and Marc, or Laila and Grayson, or all three of them together.

Marc's family also wasn't a recycle bin of two or three characters. I was confused by his family tree as it seemed all of his family went on the trip, and some of it wasn't explained until the end, but most of them had their own moments to shine, and it wasn't just Marc's parents and his niece. There were definitely awkward moments where one character spoke too much while the others watched, but not enough to cause many problems.

The dynamic between Marc and his father was mostly well-done. The end confrontation between them felt rushed and kind of demolished a lot of the tension and their fights without ample warning or changes in the characters, but I liked when they fought because it felt real.

Marc and Laila might be a little too exaggerated of characters (Laila felt a little... stressful to me at times, with moments where I didn't understand where she was coming from, while Marc was the typical billionaire in every novel) and since I'm not Scottish nor have I ever met someone with a Scottish accent, I can't say how accurate the word choices are that Marc and his family use. I liked that their words were spelled like they would be heard, but sometimes they switched from constant accents written out to English or written plainly.

I'm not sure what caused me to enjoy this so well, as it was the typical plotline/writing/characters, but it had me hooked and I enjoyed it.

A Beautiful Love Story
You'll love Marcus and Laila's story. She's kind and sweet and he's grumpy. They were raised differently as she grew up in foster care and he had a big loving family. Fate brings them together when her last assignment for her job is to deliver his god son to him. He is not prepared to care for a six month old and hires her to be his nanny. Most of the story happens on a long cruise that is part vacation and part trip to take his father to Greece for medical treatment. They have a sweet romance for the most part but a relative creates some angst and breaks them up. They both have some trust issues from prior engagements. They eventually get back together and have a happy ending. The author did a great job with the characters and the story line. A pleasure to read. I read a complimentary advance copy via Bad Boy Update and voluntarily chose to review it.

Her Billionaire Boss was pretty good, I have to admit I didn't have high hopes, but I was pleasantly surprised! This book follows the development of a romantic relationship between Marc (a Scottish billionaire tech guy) and Leila (a social worker). Marc finds himself the sudden father of a baby after his college friends pass away. Leila is hired as his temporary nanny. They hit if off, of course and become romantically involved, but not without some drama and hiccups. I ended up enjoying this book. The Scottish dialogue got a little old after a while, however. Overall, good book, great light read, would be perfect for a vacation or beach read. Also, no overly sexual scenes, if that kind of thing bothers you.

This is a well written book with strong characters in Laila and Marc. The author brings them together when she delivers a six month old baby to him. He hires her to be his nanny. The longer they are together the stronger their chemistry is. They fight it as long as they can. The story moves fluidly with detailed and descriptive scenes and is an entertaining read.

This is a story of a little boy named Grayson who brings together the laid-off worker of the Association of Child Services and a self-made billionaire of apps. Laila Diaz must connect Grayson with his godfather Marcus Campbell after the tyke’s parents are killed in an automobile accident. Needless to say, Marcus is shocked that his friends had a child, shocked that he was named a godparent, and shocked that he was solely responsible for the infant. He has no experience with babies and does not know where to even begin; however, he does not want Grayson going into the system to be raised by foster parents. As she has no job for the present, Laila agrees to stay and take care of the child. On top of becoming responsible for a baby, Marcus is also taking his family on a pretend vacation, but in reality, the family is tricking his father to get him to a treatment facility for a lung problem. The ocean cruise on the Campbell yacht brings his family together in close proximity. As most families do, they squabble and get to know each other. Laila and Marcus, too, squabble and get to know each other as well as fall in love; however, Marcus has much to learn about independent women and making decisions for them. He does learn, but his education comes with difficulties. There is an HEA with Marcus, his family, Laila, and Grayson, and readers will enjoy this story of family, love, and forgiveness.

Yes the title is cheesy, yes the plot is timeworn, and yes the characters have about as much depth and complexity as a kiddie pool, but ultimately I thought the conflict between the lead characters was well done. The conflict was nicely developed through past history and though they each had a POV on the conflict that didn't stop them from trying to communicate with each other. And finally, the conflict resolution was realistic and true to the characters.

Sailing Towards Healing, Love, and New Starts

Laila Diaz believed in family. She had spent her whole life observing families. But as a foster child, her view of family was always from the outside looking in. And, with constant observation, she had come to discern what made a loving, healthy family from what made a dysfunctional, unhealthy family. As a child who from her earliest years, even as a baby, had been a part of the foster child program, she had been provided with a young lifetime full of examples of what to do to make family work and what could be impediments to family love and happiness.

So as a child, and now as adult, Laila had known what she wanted to be—she wanted to be someone who worked with families, helping them to be strong, helping them gain the support that they needed to stay as a family and helping families learn to be a healthy and happy place for children. So, she had worked hard to equip herself, first as an undergraduate, then as a graduate student studying in the area of social work. And so, the little foster girl had grown into a beauty with “deep brown eyes that in the sunlight, showed glints of honey and amber” who possessed “a wild tumble of dark curls.” She had become a woman of strength with sweetness and goodness that touched the people around her.

And, despite her dysfunctional childhood that could have prevented her from trusting others, she did trust and love. She had opened her heart with love to ex, Brian. But her fiancé had played the game of love, thinking that his wealth would win Laila and keep her his, no matter his artificial love and infidelity. But he was wrong. Laila prized honesty and fidelity above everything, including wealth, so when he and his newest “love” departed, leaving her with an expensive lease on an apartment in the city, she hustled and found a friend who could afford to sublet the space. She didn’t need the “things” of fake love that Brian had offered.

When she had first accepted a job with Association of Child Services, a foster care placement agency, she had wanted to be a part of helping knit families together. But, when her agency, needing to manage on reduced funding, restructures her out of a job, she faces another upheaval in a life that had been filled with moves and adjustments. So, her last task for her almost-former-employer was to deliver an orphaned child, a baby boy—Grayson—to his named guardian, Marcus Campbell, a college friend of the baby’s dad.

So, despite the upheaval swirling around in her world, Laila is determined to see baby Grayson’s world become sorted and settled before she leaves the agency. So, rather than handing the baby boy off to another employee at the agency, she takes baby Grayson herself to his named guardian Marcus Campbell, a 35-year-old grumpy, Scottish tech billionaire and CEO of Campbell Web Developers whose life is at an inflection point.

Even billionaires can face upheavals in their lives. Currently, his dad is in failing health and his business is still recovering from the betrayal of his ex-fiancée, who on her way to become a reality show star, had made a fool of Grayson in her destructive storyline which exposed him to the ire of his board and stockholders. And now, he and his extended family are on the verge of departing on a yacht for an extended family cruise—a cruise he dreads with every fiber of his being—not just because of all the family who are accompanying him on the trans-Atlantic journey with him, but also because he suffers from intense sea sickness.

So, the very concept of assuming the guardianship of a child—a baby—isn’t worth considering seriously. He doesn’t intend to become a parent—his relationship with his own dad is challenging enough to put him off of becoming a father himself. So, his intent is to search for someone in baby Grayson’s dad or mom’s extended families who is willing to care for the baby. But in the meantime, he must locate a nanny to accompany Marcus and his family on their family cruise which is about to depart. He doesn’t have the time or desire to search for a nanny.

So, when Laila shares that the delivery of Grayson is her last task of her former job, Marcus, ever the efficient CEO, sees a future employee in need of a job. And Laila, the former foster care child, can’t bear to think of Grayson without love and care. So, with no loose ends to nail—her former job is done, her apartment has been sub-let and her few possessions stored until she can locate new housing, and no current job, but the hope of an interview for the perfect job later that month, she agrees to go on the cruise as Grayson’s nanny.

North invites the readers to open their minds and their hearts to two individuals who come from very different family experiences, but who share a core vision of what family means. And, when Laila and Marcus learn to listen to each other, they are able to give life to their shared dreams of love and family.

Marc's best friends died suddenly in a violent car accident when a tanker hits them, and their infant 6-month old son, Grayson, is left an orphan. But, instead of receiving a delivery of egg foo yong from his favorite Chinese restaurant, a beauty with dark skin named Laila from child services is on his front steps with the news of his friend's horrible death. As a result, he is now Grayson's legal guardian. Marc is now in desperate need of a nanny to watch Grayson because his family sets sail the next day on a six-week vacation. And Laila just so happens to be looking for a new job.

I LOVE a Scottish accent. It is exceptionally charming and sexy, especially with the rolling 'r' sounds and the voice's deep, almost relaxing, harmony. The accent typically accompanies sculpted muscles, broad shoulders, and the only man that will ever look good in a skirt. It elevated the story to imagine Marc's rolling Scottish brogue every time he spoke. I thought North did an extraordinary job with the written Scottish dialect. When I read the words, I could envision the sound of them.

Marc’s boisterous family was something I don't think I was expecting. The conflict and tension he had with his father about mistakes he made in his youth made the story more heartfelt. It added to the credence that he was trying to redeem himself.

The part of the novel that kind of baffles me is the reason for Marc and Laila’s initial breakup. It may be that I have no experience from her point of view, and therefore I fall in more on Marc’s side of the argument, but it left me a little lost.

I would recommend this book to readers of the romance genre who enjoy a Scottish hottie, and the opposites attract story. The sex scenes are hot and far from explicit, with a suitable misting of heat, imagination, and originality.

Fantasies can become reality
This book is about Laila and Marc. They meet as she delivers an orphaned six month-old baby to his penthouse. She informs him that his friend has passed away and he has gained custody of their son Grayson, as his godfather. Marc is understandably shocked at both pieces of news, and Laila feels bad for him. She also feels bad for the baby for his loss and being thrown into a foreign environment.
This task had actually been her last in her job at Child Services (due to budget cuts). So when Marc offers her a temporary job as Grayson’s nanny as he and his family sail to Europe for medical treatment for his dad, she takes takes it. Together they all embark on an adventure which is by no means all smooth sailing. But it certainly makes me want to go on a yacht trip of my very own! Oh how the rich must live…
There were lots of funny, loud, scary, tantalising, sweet, passionate and steamy moments as they made their way to Greece. I particularly enjoyed the stopovers in Barcelona and Venice, reminiscing about my own holidays there, desperately calling me back! The attraction and chemistry between Laila and Marc grows quickly, but there are a few issues that come with this too. Almost all of Marc’s family members have their (divided) says in what’s happening between them, which only seems to add to Laila’s doubts and concerns. Can their differences be put aside enough to give them the chance to see where their relationship can go? Ending up on two different continents may put a spanner in the works, or give them time to sort through their feelings.
This was a long one, but so worth the time and effort. It’s a dramatic and highly emotional read that had my feelings going all over the place! Laila’s back story was heartbreaking but she grew up to be so resilient, independent and strong. Her tenacity was one of her most endearing qualities. It was just what the hot Scotsman needed. And of course, I loved all of the the Scottish-isms. I laughed so hard at a lot of them, using my best (still not great) Scottish accent in my head and out loud when I read them. I loved Marc’s interfering and supportive family. And little Grayson stole me heart! He sounded just adorable!
I just wish this story didn’t have to end. Or, that there would be a follow-up story! I would love to see where everyone ends up, and read more about what happens next in all of their lives. I give this book four and three quarter stars.

Her Billionaire Boss is a sweet--if not exciting--read that goes down quickly and easily. If it suffers a bit by being too nice, it makes up for it by having a billionaire hero that, for once, isn't a kinky asshole. Marc is actually perfection; he's a generous, warm, unpretentious person with a crazy, joyful family. All that and Scottish too. (Though the Scottish accent and expressions feel a little forced, if I'm to be fully honest. If I hear one more person called an "eedjit," I may hurl haggis all over the place.)

Leila, too, is uncommonly perfect. Growing up in foster care didn't jade her at all. She's sweet and loving, great with kids, and of course totally beautiful. A newly unemployed social worker, she meets her billionaire when she brings her final charge, four-month-old Greyson, to Marc's penthouse. The baby's parents were killed and had listed Marc as godparent. The author finds a way to make it seem okay for a social worker to show up unannounced and unexpectedly to drop off a baby. Anyway, Laila is happy to take the last-minute temporary job offer to nanny Greyson on a six-week family cruise as she has eight weeks before a job interview at a local community center.

The cruise is cute, the baby is cute, the Campbell family is cute. Marc and Laila together are cute, and the two with Greyson are even cuter. What I didn't feel, however, was any true chemistry between Marc and Laila, no matter how often the author told us there was. They are just two really nice people who are nice together. The only conflict is the money/no money thing, and it is really hard to care about it as it's clear that Marc doesn't intend to use his cash to control people; he's just ridiculously generous. There's an attempt to explain why Marc's generosity falls flat for Laila, but everyone is just so nice that even when they're angry with each other, they're...nice about it.

The resolution is also sweet, and we're treated to a "one-year-later" final chapter to prove the HEA. I do wish this last bit included more of the mechanics of how it's all working though. We go from "Yay, Marc can behave like a normal not-rich guy" to a year later without proof that he maintained it. But s'okay.

In short, this novel is sweet and uncomplicated, and it can be swallowed in two or three short hours.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

Marcus, Laila, and baby Grayson

This is the story of Scottish self-made billionaire Marcus (Marc) Campbell and social worker Laila Diaz. Laila grew up as a foster child in New Jersey. Both now live in New York. On Laila's last day with the Association of Child Services (ACS), she delivers six-month-old Grayson to Marc. Marc is Grayson's new guardian. Marc went to college with Grayson's late father Remy.

But Marc is about to embark on a six-week cruise with his entire family on Marc's yacht. Marc hasn't often been on the yacht due to his issues with being on the water (seasick-type issues). The family's secret object is getting his uncooperative father Kenneth treatment available only in Greece for his lung condition. Kenneth has breathing issues and his inhaler is helping less as time goes on. Laila has a promising job prospect, her dream job, but the interview is not for eight weeks. Marc needs a nanny for Grayson during the cruise, and Laila accepts his job offer.

Marc and Laila each have baggage. Marc was previously engaged, and that relationship was disastrous. Laila was also previously engaged to another wealthy man who wanted to control every aspect of her life. Laila ended her previous engagement when she found her ex-fiance in bed with another woman.

Despite their history, sparks fly between Marc and Laila during the cruise. To prolong his time with Laila, Marc adds another stop to the cruise (Venice) without discussing that with Laila. The extra stop jeopardizes Laila's timely arrival for her dream job interview, and that puts distance between Marc and Laila. Also, Marc is not sure he's cut out to become Grayson's father, so he is looking for someone in Grayson's family to take on that role. And Marc's Aunt Sandra seems to think Laila is a gold-digger after Marc's money.

Another relationship in the background of the story is between Marc's cousin Mathilda and Jackson, an employee of Marc's who works on Marc's yacht. Mathilda and Laila develop a friendship during the cruise. Sparks fly between Mathilda and Jackson, but will their relationship stay a fling or develop into something more?

Will Marc and Laila resolve their differences? Will Marc keep Grayson? What about Mathilda and Jackson? Read this well-written story and find out.

Loved the Hero and Narrator, Not the Heroine So Much

I really enjoyed the first part of this book before the required dark moment that splits up the couple temporarily. I loved the hero's crazy family. It is more realistic than most I've read in fiction. Everyone certainly had their own personality, motivations, and place in the family mosaic. I loved the hero. He's not the typical alph-hole you see in billionaire romance. He's more the generous beta hero who tries to take care of everybody. I liked the heroine at first, but her reason for that dark moment that we need to have in romance just wasn't quite enough for me. You’d give up an amazing guy and a baby you adore (not her biological child, the hero's ward) and the instant family you've always wanted…for that?? Perhaps if the hero was more of a true alph-hole, it would have made sense. But he wasn't. Frankly, I think she was too harsh with him, and I don't like to see romantic couples be that way toward each other. Usually, it's the guy who's like that, but not in this book. By the end of the story, I actually wished for a different love match for the sweet and sexy hero, which is never good in a romance. I wanted someone who appreciated him more for who he inherently was, not made to change his perfectly okay character so he could keep the woman he loves.

Despite that I didn't like how the book ended, I absolutely adored the narrator. This audiobook has a single male narrator throughout, but he does a really great job doing the hero's Scottish accent. The narrator sounds American in the non-dialogue parts, but he does a believable (and yummy!) male Scottish accent. His female Scottish accents weren't quite as good; they sounded more like a caricature than the real thing. (I’ve been to Scotland twice, so I am familiar with Scottish accents.) In the first part of the book, his vocal stylings for the hero vaguely reminded me of Sam Heughan’s Jamie Fraser. Even when the narrator spoke with his American accent, it made me think that that would be how Sam Heughan would sound if he attempted an American accent and pitched his voice just a little higher. The narrator alone made this a fun listen. I just wish the story itself was a little better.

I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.

I really enjoyed the characters and their story. Both have been previously engaged to someone who could be seen as having something in common with the current person. His fiance didn't have much financially and used him to get money and a reality show. Her fiance has a lot of money and used it to control what she did, labeling her a gold digger even though she didn't want his money and wanted to work. And that makes her different than his ex-fiance. He's different as well because he has much more but uses because he cares for the people he spends his money on and expects nothing in exchange. He's just generous and kind.
But, even though I give the story five stars, because I really did enjoy it, I also did find one issue that really bugs me. And that's the timeline. The story takes place mostly during a cruise. We're told before it that it will be six weeks. We're also told that she has an interview that she needs to be back in New York for in eight weeks. The cruise is really to get his father to a treatment center in Greece and make it a family vacation on the way. So if there's two weeks difference, why during the trip when he makes a change to the plan, he thinks how it makes her not have a week (not two) before the interview, instead she'll be down to four days. And even though the way there is to be the longer part of the trip, the trip back seems to short. Especially since they don't leave Greece until his dad has his treatment. Three days for the added stop, a few more for bad weather, puts them just getting to Greece two days after they should have been back in New York. When his treatment is a week long. In their fight, he also says she has only known his dad for two weeks- maybe that's a mistake, or maybe its him exaggerating (worse by giving it less time) in the heat of the argument. During the small portion of the book that causes this fight, it really bothered me, but when I examine the book without focusing on timeline for those couple of pages, I really enjoyed it so I ended up not taking away any stars for it.

Thanks for another great read! One thing I appreciate about LN’s writing is she takes me to several different genres so seamlessly. I’m particularly fond of her cowboys and her Navy Seals and will always gravitate there first. I’ve not yet jumped into her various Sheikh series because the idea of me ever meeting a real live Sheikh is as likely as me meeting a unicorn biker bear shifter pirate who time travels to regency England and falls in love with a Duke’s daughter! But in fairness, I know I’ll love them just as much as my cowboys and Seals! It’s a bit similar with the billionaires. I can’t fathom meeting one or living a life with one.

But that’s why I really liked Her Billionaire Boss. Laila Diaz is my kind of gal. She works for children’s services! I’ve worked in human services for 25+ years so that’s completely relatable! She grew up in foster care so she gets what these kids are facing. Unfortunately, she is being laid off due to budget cuts. Her last case leads her to her future…

Now we meet Marcus, who eventually hires her to care for the new born infant she brings him. His friends make him the guardian of their baby, and when they die tragically, he becomes the sole caregiver for baby Grayson. He’s a bazillionaire with a sexy Scottish accent (at least he does in my mind). He’s a good guy but not the warmest individual in the beginning.

Laila and Marcus are thrown together into a tight situation. There is sex and steam, there is family stuff, there are some miscommunications and also some baggage they both bring into their situation, and there are a lot of unresolved questions that must be answered before they get their HEA. (They do!) This is an easy read that will keep you engaged from start to finish. Grab a mug of cocoa, a warm blanket and dive in!

Fantasy to reality and then making dreams come true after all
Her Billionaire Boss by Leslie North is a fantasy come to life through Laila and Marc’s story. It has a fairytale elements as Laila finds herself in the lap of luxury and immersed in a chaotic and wonderful family. While having money is not entirely foreign to her, it’s not where she is most comfortable, finding her place with Marc’s family is exceedingly easier despite recent history. Marc is heroic in that he thinks nothing of taking care of those he loves, but has become complacent as a billionaire CEO, thinks nothing of making plans or changing them without consulting or considering others, notably Laila.
The plot of this book, the boss and employee falling for each other, is intriguing for the characters themselves as well as the multitude of secondary characters that surround them. Marc’s extended family adds to the growing feelings and high potential of a long lasting relationship as much as it encroaches and creates havoc. There is much for this couple to work through, but the fantasy circumstances make it easy for reality to be ignored and feeds Marc’s complacency that his wants and needs meets or exceeds the wants and needs of everyone.
Overall, this stand alone romance by Leslie North is wonderfully sweet, yet also steamy while exploring the emotional, mental and personal aspects brought to a relationship by both the hero and heroine. Marc and Laila find their way using time, patience, understanding and ultimately paying special attention to one another to advantage, securing their family and ensuring a beautiful HEA.

'Her Billionaire Boss' by Leslie North is a standalone romance with no cliffhangers which tells the story of Lalia Diaz and Marcus (Marc) Campbell. Laila is completing her final day working for Child Protective Services. She has to deliver Grayson, an orphaned six month old boy, to his godfather and legal guardian, his unknowing guardian. Marc is shocked to learn his college friend and wife were killed in an accident and had named him guardian to their son. He was in the middle of getting ready for a six-week family cruise which was a guise to get his father to try a new treatment for his silicosis at a facility in Greece. And now a baby to take care of? How, he was a single man, going to manage?

Marc needed a nanny, post haste, Lalia was out of a job and had experience, perfect solution. Marc offers Lalia the job and she jokingly accepts not thinking he was remotely serious. But he was, so they talked, Marc asking questions about her experience, and Lalia asking what he expected. Marc explained about the cruise and warned her about his loud, noisy, and, boisterous family. Lalia was a bit jealous of him because she grew up in foster care and had always wanted to be part of a large family. She agreed to take the job at least for the length of the cruise.

Ms. North has written a delightful book with wonderful characters and a compelling storyline. This story is filled with humor, drama, meddling family members, sizzling chemistry, and an adorable baby. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to everyone who enjoys a fab story with heart.

Family can be messy sometimes

Billionaire falls for nanny can be an overdone trope, but I LOVED this story. I think it is my favoorite of her several dozen books I have read this year. Despite the billionaire trope, I think these characters -- including the quirky and eccentric extended family members -- were the most realistic.

The billionaire got his college roommate's baby dropped in his lap just days before he leaves on a vacation to reunite his own family while taking his dad to a special clinic in Greece to treat a lung condition. Desperate, he hires the child services worker that delivered the baby to be the nanny for the trip.

Both are very aware of the professional lines that should not be crossed, but do so anyway. They reveal secrets held close in their hearts for many years. They hear the words and sympathize, but don't do quite so well at internalizing the need to accomodate. Characters react from places of conditioned pain and worthlessness.

Then they need to make amends. In most books, those amends consist of empty words and physical passion. Ms.North has finally written a story that shows that sincere amends need actions performed over a period of time to demonstrate the deep, true and sincere change in attitudes and mind-set.

I could believe these characters are real people who have made genuine changes and have an honest chance for a long-term happy relationship.

This book was lovely, easy to read and absolutely sweet.
For most of Laila Diaz’s life, nothing has gone as planned. But now, things are finally looking up. On her last day working for child services, she’s scheduled to deliver an orphaned infant to his new legal guardian…grumpy Scottish billionaire Marcus Campbell.
It’s immediately clear that while Marcus is capable and gorgeous, he’s also in need of a nanny, especially with a family retreat on the horizon. Laila’s out of a job, so he makes her an offer she can't refuse. Marcus has never met a woman as caring, sincere, and beautiful as Laila. Even as they enjoy paradise together, the real world still looms over the three of them, ready to burst their happy bubble. When the holiday ends, can they can build something new, something that can last? Something more than just a fantasy…
This two are just too cute. Laila is orphan too, so she immediately feels compel to protect Grayson. She is strong, sweet and super generous. Marcus is an amazing character. He is protective and caring and I loved that he is not the usual alpha billionaire type. They have some issues regarding money —she doesn´t like him paying for everything, he just sees it as a way of making everyone’s life easier— but not a lot of aghast.
It’s well written, cute and super enjoyable. I adored the side characters, especially Mathilda and Jackson and all the family. There are some sexy times and they were really good.

A charming romance. 5*
I love Leslie's writing. There is always something new she brings to the storyline. Laila, a social worker and Marc, the handsome Scotsman, a tech billionaire meet when Laila delivers him a baby from his deceased friend, nominating him as the guardian of the baby. A confirmed bachelor with a 6 week cruise planned from the next day with his entire family, leaves no time to plan, ponder or even come to terms with his new reality. With Laila just laid off from work due to budget cuts, she accepts the role of nanny to the baby during the cruise. As he is very handsome, and she is beautiful, it is clear whom the love interest in this book will involve. We are lucky because there are two couples to have Cupid’s influence in this novel. As usual with Leslie’s work, the English is impeccable, as is the editing, the characters are very well described with scene-appropriate dialogues and plenty of momentum in the storyline. I liked the modesty of Marc in ‘flaunting’ his money that comes across as being generous. There will be times for a few tears but plenty to make the reader smile, particularly, the way the author is writing the phonetics of a Scottish accent. After some not-inconsiderable dramatic tension, the reader is rewarded with a double HEA. This book is a very positive start to the new year, is a charming, easy-to-read, very enjoyable story that I am more than happy to recommend.

This book has wonderfully fascinating main characters, a great storyline and includes visits to dreamed about European locations. Add in a baby, and loud, irreverent and slightly nutty relatives and you get get a funny, steamy and wonderful book.

Marc is a dreamy Scottish billionaire who finds himself in sudden need of a nanny. The nanny is a beautiful warm-hearted and sweet woman who delivered the newly orphaned infant to his door. Laila is between jobs and already in love with the tiny orphan. The fact that the job entails a six week cruise around Europe…… big bonus and just enough time to fall hopelessly in love. Both Marc and Laila have had terrible luck in the romance department. As he is struggling to get along with his dad and the rest of his extended family while stuck on a luxury yacht in the middle of the ocean, she finds his family to raucous, unfiltered and rather endearing. She grew up in the foster care system and knows Marc is lucky to have his family, whether he sees it for himself or not. The close proximity and caring for the baby give Laila and Marc plenty of time together and the opportunity to give into their attraction. Of course no romance is without some bumps and conflicts, or disapproving critical relatives. How will these two find their happily ever after when their backgrounds and lifestyles are so different?

From Different Backgrounds

From opposite ends of the spectrum, Marc is a self-made billionaire who uses his wealth in helping people. Laila's been in different foster families throughout her life & has fought her way to being independent, smart & to make life better for future foster kids. She's at Marc's door to drop off an orphaned infant baby. Marc's friends died in a tragic accident & he's been named as Grayson's guardian. Marc & his family are hours away to go on a 6-week yacht trip to seek medical treatment for his dad. He hires her to be the baby's nanny during this trip. The instant attraction between them is undeniable & soon they are spending quality time as a family unit. When she learns he's making decisions without asking her, she leaves at the next port. He realizes he knows nothing about relationships, so he locates where she is & signs up as a volunteer at her workplace. He's humbled & appreciative in her world, seeing her in a very different light. She is independent, beautiful & loves children. When she catches him interacting with troubled kids, she sees he wants to be in her world & wants a 2nd chance in repairing their relationship in order to reach their HEA.

An awesome story to read. I highly recommend this story with emotional highs & lows, family dynamics & realizing not all women are gold diggers after a billionaire's money & trapping him.
