NYT and USA Today Bestselling Author Eve Vaughn has enjoyed creating characters and making up stories from an early age. As a child she was always getting into mischief, so when she lost her television privileges (which was often), writing was her outlet. Her stories have gotten quite a bit spicier since then! Eve likes to read, bake, make crafts, travel, and spend time with her family. She lives in the Philadelphia area with her husband and pet turtle. She loves to hear from her fans, so feel free to contact her at Eve@evevaughn.com or join her Facebook Group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/eveva...
The hero was worth mentioning especially the way he defended bullying. He even chided heroine for calling wanna be OW ‘plastic’. Writing was a bit sloppy. But the author has potential. Heroine’s genius son added much needed sweetness. Heroine was lovable too.
Remember, "age ain't nothing but a number" and that adage was so true when it came to gym business owner/personal trainer, Landon and teacher, Gloria. This was another enjoyable cute and smexy read with memorable H/h by Eve Vaughn!
“Damn right it was. I was so proud of Gloria for putting Sharon in her place. And to think, that’s who you wanted me to hook up with. See? She might be attractive on the surface but on the inside she’s ugly as sin.” -Landon
Y A W N. I was hoping for more heat. Older woman, younger man. Love this trope. There's not enough of it in romancelandia. BUT...the main characters had zero chemistry. The sex scenes were blah. Editorial errors took me out of the story. Didn't believe the declaration of love at the end. This story had a lot of potential but fell flat.
it's so rare to find a book where the woman is older than the man and he's not a teenager she's lusting after. I was expecting way more heat and tension with this one, and instead was bored reading about her workout regime and her low self-esteem woes. It would also be nice to read about a full-figured woman who doesn't hate her body or finds it unfathomable others would find her attractive. It's way past time to put new spins on old tropes. I don't want to say this story is a product of lazy writing, but maybe a lazy imagination. I didn't finish this one. Maybe got 35-40% into this before throwing in the towel, which for me is very bad considering this had less than 200 pages. I want to keep supporting writers in the IR romance genre, but I'm going to need a bit more effort put into storylines that have been circulating for decades to keep things fresh and engaging.
It was very different than what i expect from ms. Vaughn. I didn’t really like it but the grammar was good and i liked how the hero came in and changed the heroine’s life in a positive manner. It was a short story so i wasn’t expecting that much of a development of their relationship like most longer stories.
Although that being said, i didn’t know much about both characters. I wanted to know more about them and their attraction. Like what did the hero like about the heroine so much besides the old crush.
Another thing that kept pissing me off Is how Gloria kept saying “we can’t do this” like he was still her student. I understand the apprehension but my God it was so aggravating she did this for over half of the book. I’m disappointed i still didn’t see Gloria really come into herself or even show that she loved herself!
I love interracial black women with white men stories. In this case she is older and he is younger. I love that as well. I live the way he loved her. That he helped heal her wounded soul. I loved the little boy. Who is academically gifted. They were some errors in this story but I'm not holding them against this story. It was that sweet and the growth and healing of this woman was definitely a scoring factor. It does help to see people overcoming any self doubts or in this case self damnation because of a weght issue. Also how she stood up to that ex husband. Who really needs to get his ass kicked. I read both versions of this story. I enjoyed them.
Gloria, is a beautiful full figured divorcee, whose self esteem has been knocked down a few times. Internet dating was a bust. She decides to work on herself and joins a gym with hopes of working with a female personal trainer. However, fate has chosen Landon, the owner to be her trainer. Landon recognizes Gloria from his past and is determined not to let her get away from him no matter how much she thinks he's too old for him.
Why couldn't this have been like 10 chapters longer? They were such a cute couple, I just wish we could have gotten to know them better. The story was sweet and sexy, and the characters I couldn't help but fall in love with. The way Landon helped being her back to like was beautiful. I just would have liked to have seen more of the past and future for them both.
The book was a good read, just not like all of the books Mrs. Vaughn writes that I tend obsess over every word/detail. This read was more tamed, more sweet. I can't rate this book as a low rate because it wasn't to my taste. I like the drama, the darkness leading to live that Mrs. Vaughn write. This is probably an even better read for other readers. Like I said the book was a good read, just not one of my favs.
I'm typically a fan of eve vaughn, this book however was a disappointing. I think it may have been okay had the characters been maybe high school age to maybe 21? The fact that they're 39 and 29 with the dialogue they had was really childish. There wasn't a lot of detail either, and a lot to be left to the imagination. It kind of felt like a rush write? I just felt it lacking a while lot. It just wasn't her best work.
This was a good quick read. I love other books by Eve so I already knew it would be good. I love how Landon and Gloria already knew each other so their feelings for each other just evolved instead of popping up out of nowhere. This could easily have been a much longer novel but I think it was the perfect length.
I enjoyed the storyline and the concept of the characters but it was a bit lackluster with the way the same text or dialogue was heavily recycled and reused within the same paragraphs all throughout the text. So much so that I thought I was literally rereading text I had already read but it was that the characters were saying the same exact thing.
This couple made me smile on several occasions. I enjoyed Landon taking his time and showing her how special her. All her self doubts stem from being put down by her ex-husband, someone who was suppose to uplift her and make her feel special. Loved her mother.
Too many unanswered questions in this book. What happened with the father \son relationship? Did he spend the summer with his dad? Did the ex and the current man e Dr meet? These this be should not be brought up if there's not going to be answers
The plot was good, however some things just fell through. Problems with Gloria’s Ex never seems resolved, and I thought the ending was a little abrupt. I enjoyed the characters even though some of them disappeared half way through the book.
Can't really put my finger on one point...but this book had no depth. It was hard to keep reading. It was predictable and cheesie. No real intense love story, no highs, no lows of emotion ... just a boring read.
I absolutely adored this feel good romance! It was a nice break from the mayhem and murder I’ve been reading! I would LOVE my very own Landon! A good man is truly good to find.
I love that Landon knew what he wanted and went for it. I can understand Gloria's hesitancy but glad she decided to let go. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story.
I think this story reflects a lot of real things that women go through, not just physical but emotionally as well. I like they Landon loved her through her insecurities.
