About the author

Christine Valters Paintner, PhD is the online Abbess at AbbeyoftheArts.com, a virtual monastery and global community. She is the author of over 20 books on contemplative practice and creative expression including three collections of poetry. She lives in Galway, Ireland where she leads online retreats with her husband John. Christine is a Benedictine oblate, living out her commitment as a monk in the world.

This book culminated my goal to read every book written by Christine Valters Paintner. I found the ideas to be inspiring for me as a teacher and for practicing self care. The incorporation of lectio was a highlight, since this is a daily practice for me. I found myself listening to music more, walking out in nature daily, taking pictures, and being with God in contemplative prayer as I read this book. I also bought a journal and started writing poetry. Composition notebooks were delivered yesterday for all of my students, as this book reminded me of the importance of giving them time to write poetry and reflect as well.
