Informative more for the historical anecdotes, local legends, and true tales than the ghost stories, this reads more like a series of blog posts or a first draft than a professionally published book.
The author that wrote this book is Candice Shatkins who is one of many people from the company Haunted America that writes the haunted series. In the beginning of the book it starts with some early history about Kenosha. One of the places it talked about was the Kemper Hall and a ghost nun haunts it. She has been here photographed and see by many people. The next place that I found interesting was the Rhode Opera House where it is said that people that have gone there have felt the presence of ghost but felt safe around them and that they are actors that used to perform there. The last one I am going to tell that i think is the most interesting is about a black powder plant exploding. The name of the story is “POWDER PLANT EXPLOSIONS ROCK ENTIRE COUNTY”. This story is about when there was a black powder plant in Pleasant Prairie and it exploded. When the residents heard the first explosion they grabbed their kids out there bed and took them outside. It is a good thing they did because shortly after they got outside there was another explosion that leveled some of the house and others badly damage. The second one was so powerful that building in Chicago had window breaking. I really like this book because I am learn more about Kenosha that I did not know. I also like it because of all the ghost stories that are true because they have evidence of them. If you are one that likes ghost stories that are facts and the history of a certain place like Kenosha then you may like this book or one of the other haunted books. If I had to rate this book I would probably rate it with 4.5 because there are some tricky words in it. After reading the book it makes me want to go out and see all of the places for myself.
