Maimonides: Guide for Today's Perplexed

Rate this book
~ How should we describe God?
~ What is so important about monotheism?
~ If God created the universe, why is there evil?
~ How will we know when the Messiah has come?

These are among the problems that Maimonides contemplated in the 12th century, and that still perplex students of Judaism today.

Seeskin addresses these questions in a modern context, making the philosophy and teachings of Maimonides accessible to everyone.

Kenneth Seeskin is Professor and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at Northwestern University and holds the position of Director of the Jewish Studies Program.

Some interesting perspective on both the life and context of Maimonides as well as what he had to say in the Guide. Without having read the Guide I have to take the authors word for it though.
