Caroline Brewer is an award-winning children’s book author, an artist, environmentalist, literacy consultant, and creator of Nature-Wise. Nature-Wise is a training for teachers and students that blends literacy, outdoor exploration, and oneness with nature.

Ms. Brewer is author and illustrator of the new 48-page picture book that’s receiving rave reviews, Harriet Tubman, Force of Nature. Harriet Tubman, Force of Nature is a meditation on Harriet’s legacy of oneness with nature and how she used it to free herself and dozens of others on the Underground Railroad.

Water, air, soil, plants, animals, the sun, moon, and stars were abiding sources of inspiration, celebration, and sustenance as Harriet charted her legacy as the best known conductor on the Underground Railroad. Expressed in 30 poems, with captivating, uniquely-styled collage illustrations, there’s never been a children’s biography of our beloved Harriet like this.

Ms. Brewer is also author of the award-winning Say Their Names, a picture book that provides a journey of healing and community engagement in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder by police.

She is the former Director of Communications for Nature Forward and former Chairwoman of Nature Forward’s Taking Nature Black Conference (TNB).

Ms. Brewer has decades of experience in storytelling as a journalist, children’s book author, and public relations professional, working with national celebrities, members of Congress, the Obama White House, and grassroots organizations. She lives in the Washington, D.C. metro region.
