Confessions of a Werewolf Supermodel

Rate this book
Supermodel Lou Kipinski seems to have it all. But beauty is only skin deep--and sometimes Lou's porcelain complexion can get a bit hairy. The only thing worse than a furry fashion faux-pas? Fangs in her million-dollar smile. That's what happened six months ago, when Lou had her first outbreak. But now that she's at the height of her career she absolutely must find a cure…So what's a single werewolf gotta do?

Then a sexy detective comes knocking on her door. Two women who bear an eerie resemblance to Lou have been killed--something with teeth and claws tore them apart. Is it a coincidence that the grisly murders have taken place during the same time as Lou's own outbreaks? With a killer at her heels and another outbreak just a concealer-wand's distance away, Lou is soon in a race to discover truths about her own murky past. And before it's all over she may be forced to show the world that her bark is nothing compared to her bite…

I can't read this. I kept trying but it's just not clicking. It's like a bad date I wanted to end before it even began. I couldn't even get through chapter one without finding SO MANY PROBLEMS. From what I read, the writing seems okay. Granted, I only made it in a few pages. But I couldn't seem to get past the style. First person present tense. This format of writing is difficult to follow. And what's worse? Since I don't just read for enjoyment (don't know how to, really), I'm struggling to keep up and gauge how often the writer sticks to present tense, or if there's times the writer perhaps screwed something up.

I can't. I just can't. I wanted to. Hell, I've owned the book for YEARS before I finally found the time to tackle it's secrets. But now that I'm here, I'm finding that those secrets aren't something I can handle.

Sorry if you enjoy this book. I hope you do. I hope I can find someone who'll want my crisp, brand-new (old yet never touched) copy, cause I certainly won't be sticking around for it.

Sorry luv'. It's just not going to work out for us. I can see it now, so I hope you'll find someone else.

Tossing.

This novel was surprisingly entertaining and a really fun read despite the somewhat cheesy title. I felt that it was well written with the right amount of humour, action and suspense and supernatural themes in all the right places. The heroine is likeable and you find yourself satisfied with most of the bold decisions she ends up making, especially when her love interest (who makes me picture Henry Cavill - sigh) is concerned :)
It is a great shame that the author Rhonda Thompson had passed away when this novel was published and the ending of the book suggests that a series was planned but this does not greatly take away from the goodness of the story. Rhonda Thompson has done a wonderful job on this piece that could easily make it on the big screen. I really wish someone could help finish the series though as there is a mystery behind the heroine's werewolf gene.

I'm honestly suprised...this book is not that bad so far. I stood forever in front of Targets book shelves debating on a book to get, not wanting to spend the 15 dollars so grabbed the cheaper one that caught my attention, not really having much faith it would pan into something worth writing about...but based on being halfway through already, I would read the next should one come out.

The idea of synthetic werewolves, and the mystery surrounding the main character is enough to keep me reading. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

Lou is a top model, earning the big bucks and setting her own schedule. If only those dang patches of fur and the occasional fang outbreak weren't getting in the way. Ever since prom night, Lou has known she was a werewolf but never showed any signs of her...uh, condition. But Lou's got a dark past, one that's much darker than she knows. And hiring a private investigator to find her birth parents might be stirring up a big, furry mess of problems. But Lou has other distractions, like the one wearing a badge and asking her about two women who both bear a striking resemblance to Lou and who have both been brutally murdered. That's when Lou realizes those nightmares she's been having exist outside her dreams.

I liked this book more than I thought I would. But actually, I would have rated it at 3 1/2 stars. The big climax was over too quickly and it wasn't like I didn't see it coming ever since that scene in Central Park. There are far too many unanswered questions, most of them seemingly intentionally left hanging as fodder for a sequel but there doesn't seem to be one.

Still, I love a good werewolf book.

Confessions of a Werewolf Supermodel is a light and fun read. The characters are entertaining and the suspense continues at a gradual climb until the final few chapters where it sky rockets. At times, the story seems to put too much emphasis on Lou's possible bedmates, but the plot picks right up a few pages later. Along with many others, I am sad that there will not be other installments in the series. I would have thoroughly enjoyed uncovering Lou's past with her.

If you are looking for a fun, humor filled page turner concerning supermodels, werewolves, hot men, and a sprinkling of vamps for good measure, spend a few afternoons with Ronda Thompson.

I really enjoyed this. Nice light read. Wanted to thump the lead upside the head a couple of times though. *laughing* It's really too bad there won't be more due to the author's passing since she was obviously setting things up for a series. Many questions left unanswered. But don't let that stop you from giving this a try. No cliffhanger here, just unresolved question about her past.

It's a cute book. Chick lit for sure but entertaining. She has a past, runs away from it, starts to sense danger in her new life and gets wolfy. Cute relationship with her bff. Cute writing style.

Lou is a supermodel with a secret...she is a werewolf. Why, when, how...she doesn't know. but it isn't easy to grow facial hair and fangs just before a photo shooting.

I liked Lou a lot! She was funny, girly, sexy and sarcastic; and I think it is the exact formula for a chick lit protagonist. She is also strong and fierce. As a bonus, I liked all of the characters. They didn't seem to me like stereotyped. Besides, there isn't just one hot male character...there are three! and you can choose the one you would like to dream with at nights.

In this book there is a lot going on at the same time. Mystery, love, sex, friendship plus the paranormal stuff, I thought maybe it wasn't going to work but it does. I don't know how, but it isn't every day when I can find a chick lit / urban fantasy book that works so great without being excessive.

I also enjoyed the writing style. I was fun, light and fast. Maybe if you are looking for something more "paranormal" you will feel this book doesn't have enough. I think it's because it was intended to be the first book of a series and Lou is just beginning to discover about the underworld.

It's a shame that the author, Ronda Thompson, died. It happened the same year this book was published. I am not sure if this is the right thing to say, but it would have been a great series. Many questions are left unanswered, and I really wanted to read the sequel.

I found this while browsing at the library and sounded decent enough so I thought I'd check it out.
It's about Lou, who used to be an ugly duckling, but then on prom night when a guy was trying to force himself on her, she turned into a werewolf. She thought that she had killed him, so she and her best friend Cindy run away. After Lou turned back into a human, she was a beautiful swan, so she became a supermodel. 7 years later, one day after a shoot, a policeman comes to see her, saying that there have been many murders of girls who look like her. He suggests that someone might be out to get her. Then she starts having dreams of women getting murdered, so she helps the cop find the killer. Meanwhile, she has also looked into a private eye to help her find her birth parents because she was adopted and wants to know if they have any connection to why she turns into a werewolf.
I was totally loving this book until towards the end vampires show up. I'm so tired of vampires. Lou is a likable character. She's not stuck up and snooty like you'd expect a supermodel to be. The way it ended suggests that there will probably be a sequel.
It's a clean book, I don't remember a lot of bad words in it, and I think there was only one sex scene. Nothing to graphic. If you like supernatural stuff, this would probably be a good read for you.

This book has been sitting on my shelf since Christmas. I finally decided to give it a read. I really, really enjoyed this book. The plot is strong. Lou Kipniski is a supermodel who is also, occasionally, a werewolf. Now another werewolf is stalking her, and killing any women that get in his path. Add a hunky detective, another hunky photographer, and icky PI and a lesbian best friend, and we have a great supporting cast for our Cover Girl. The writing here is well done, very interesting. The plot races along, pages turning. The ending is also well done and somewhat original. This would have been a beautiful start to a new paranormal series. I enjoyed this book much more than some in similar genres lately. Unfortunately, this author passed away shortly after completing the story and there are a lot of lose ends. To be honest, I knew this and I think that is what kept me from reading this book long ago. Don't let it keep you from reading it, if you are interested, because not only is this a great book, but it also shows what a truly bright light burned out too soon in Ronda Thompson.

Okay, I absolutely loved this one. It was funny and had some romance and mystery going on as well. The main character is a werewolf. 7 years ago she found out the hard way when she was attacked on her way home from her high school prom. She woke up the next morning knowing she'd killed and buried the boy who attacked her after transforming into a werewolf. Apparently the transformation did come with one up side, she went from Ugly Duckling to Supermodel beautiful. So she ran away from home and became a Supermodel. Flash to future and after 7 years with no more transformations she is suddenly having a case of "werewolf" breakouts (she grows fur where there should be no hair) and this is where the story gets interesting. Loved it. You can tell Thompson was going to make a new series out of this one. So sad she passed away before she could finish it.

Deceptive. Found this in the romance section at Borders. Saw the title and was intrigued. Since I have been pleasantly surprised before and because I was looking for some book that was different from ny usuals, I picked it up. Turns out that it was exactly like my usuals. Aside from sexual references and one sex scene, Confessions turned out to be a straight SciFi/Horror/Fantasy. Not a romp. Not really fluff (which was what I was in the mood for.)

Climax came sudden and fast. Bad guy defeated way too easily when our heroine finally confronted him.

Lots of threads left dangling BTW. This is obviously the first in what the author hopes will be a long series like Jim Butcher's Dresden Files.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It had earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

As far as originality goes, this book does take an unusual tack. I've never read a story about, and from the perspective of; a werewolf supermodel. The characters are decent, with insecurities and fears that are normal. However, the story does venture into some well-trodden areas of the female lead being beset by more than one super-hunky man and libidos that are so powerful that they cannot be denied. Otherwise it was a very nice book with a story that leaves one looking forward to the next installment to see where the author takes us from here. I'll give it three stars for the story, but the now cliched angle of hypersexuality takes those last two stars away for me. Hope you enjoy.

Nothing particularly wrong with the book itself so my 1 star review is purely because these 'humour' books are turning out to be not my thing. This book has a supermodel who wolfed out for the first time when her boyfriend attacked her at the Prom and she accidently kills him. Fleeing, with a new name, her new beauty leads her to a modeling career with several furry outbreaks but now her past could be catching up with her.

The humour in these books is very much a personal thing and while I might give the odd smile, I don't really go for this type of read. If you like things like Queen Betsy, you might enjoy this.

After reading a few heavy non-fiction books, I wanted something superfical, and saw this book. I was pleasantly surprised by the first chapter, and completely intrigued by the second. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. Although it ended too abruptly for me, the story unfolds great. Not too slow, not too fast, just enough filler. Upon finishing I was looking for the sequel. Unfortunately, I found the author had passed and was deeply saddened. Although I certainly wish I could have found out what unfolded later, I'm happy to have been introduced to a great author. I will defintely look into other work by Ronda Thompson.

I am so torn about this book. It was written in present tense, which really irritated me at first. I did get used to the tense, but it still irked me throughout. I also didn't exactly like the main character, although she showed signs of growing as a person and I'd be pleased to see if she does change in the next one.

The world it's written in, though, and the challenges she faced were really engrossing. I didn't get bored, although I did figure out the plot very early in the book. I'll most likely read the next one, just to see how things develop.

Book one of a series that will never be finished. The author dies after this book was completed. She died 11th July 2008.BUT

This is not the usual paranormal candy. This book as interesting characters and the herorine is not a simpering maiden in distress. She is confused about her condition and wants to find out what triggers her transformations. She meets a hot cop when girls in the city who look like her start being killed.

A good read and it is very sad that this is the first and last book of the series

I WAS DESPERATE, OKAY?! I have a lot of big, heavy, deep books and classics to read but I just wanted something quick and light to read and I like werewolves, so I thought "why not"? and oh... Just oh... There are more in this series, but I won't be bothering with them. I can already see how it's going. There's a cop she's sleeping with. There's her photographer she's in love with. There's a private investigator who's hot for her. And she picks up a vampire along the way, who's hanging out in her apartment.

REALLY TIRED OF THIS STUFF, GUYS.

Lou was attacked on prom night and went from an ugly duckling to supermodel beauty with the only side effect of being a werewolf. Now she is trying to track down her past at the same time someone is killing girls that look like her (and Lou is seeing it in dreams).

An interesting story and take on werewolves. It ended like there would be a sequel but its been a few years and nothing has been published. It isn't a big cliffhanger, so you can enjoy this story, but I would still like to learn more and hope the sequel appears at some point.

More like 3.5*, this was a very cute story. I love the dynamic between Lou and Cindy. Best friends, who even though they are starting to outgrow each other remain best friends. I am very glad that Lou was able to clear up the issues with her past, but I am left wondering what happened to her parents and her adoptive parents? Is there another book that follows this one that answers these questions? And what about her relationship with the hot cop? Does that ever go anywhere? What about Cindy and Natasha? Good story, but it left a lot of loose ends.

How sad that there won't be a sequel. This isn't great literature but it was far better than the subject matter promised (or really deserved). It was funny and written with heart. Yes, the plot was a bit obvious at points (particularly the identity of the stalker and the details of the best friend's romance) but that did not detract from the overall fluffy read.

I read this right after Howling at the Moon (a dreadful book), expected nothing much and was pleasantly surprised by the book and saddened when, searching for a sequel, discovered that the book was published posthumously.

I liked this book a lot when I first read it. It was a great start to what would have been a funny series. After I finished it I went looking for information on the series only to discover that the author had passed away a few months before the book was released.
I have reread the book a couple times over the years and will always miss not knowing what would have been next for the characters, especially the lead character Supermodel Lou Kipinski. But at least the book isn't like some in a series. It didn't end on a cliffhanger that absolutely needs the next book.

It would have been a great start for a new series: the characters are very likable (from the major to the minor ones), there's a mystery to solve, a love story on the making and a writing style (witty & sarcastic) that spice it up! However, due to the premature departure of the author, many questions (most of all about Lou's real nature and the motives at the base of her transformation) are left unanswered leaving the reader hanging...
