I seem to remember this giving a pretty interesting description of the self as neither good or bad but rather describes patterns of behavior and ‘auto-intentions’ that may be defined as good or bad in relation to a state of self sharing an interconnected universe with others. This self-state gives us a standard of an image of individuality to work with which our auto-activities may or may not adhere to. These self standards require great responsibility and everything depends of the nature of those which we cultivate and how we react to them. Most people, out of fear, can hardly hardly manage living in line with the standards they accept as imposed upon them, let alone live up to those of their best, entirely self made, individual self for the good of all. Well this made a lot of sense to me at the time and I’m pretty sure I can still relate to a certain degree.
