The thirty stories presented in "Detached" represent sixteen years of fantasy writing. Altogether, the collection has 200+ pages of tales about mermaids, unicorns, zombies, time portals, and numerous other supernatural situations as seen through the empathetic eyes of the lonely characters therein.
I didn’t realize it was a young adult fiction when I started reading. The writing was too simplistic and the short stories seem like they’re written by a middle schooler. Too short, little plot, and very unsatisfactory endings. It is listed as a fantasy book but most of the stories have only one aspect that would be considered fantasy with no development of that theme. There are very few books I haven’t finished in my 68 years, but this is one I wish I hadn’t started.
