A Hunter's job is to find those who peddle toxic substances. In Razer's mega-city, that means batteries. Everything is powered biomechanically in his futuristic world...except something lurking in the underground.
Razer:
I've already lost one family to the toxic mines. Now, I devote my life to keeping others safe. It's my job to track down those who possess batteries and the toxic materials necessary to make them and take them into PEDAL for questioning. But there's been a shift in the type of people we're taking in. Something isn't right.

E. L. has traveled the US and Europe, served in the military, and completed two Bachelor's Degrees in Public Health and Human Sciences. She's toured lava tubes, the NASA center in Houston, castles, concentration camps, the Shelby center in Las Vegas, and many natural wonders. She's even learned to race BMWs at the track in southern California.

A short story that moves at a breakneck pace, teetering on a knife’s edge between rushed and thrilling. Strife’s sci-fi world-building really stands out. Her technological imagination and attention to detail make for a compelling and disturbing vision of the gritty, corrupt future.

An interesting, futuristic read. In a world where batteries are illegal and electricity is provided by cycling, Ion Hunters, Razer and Sadi are sent to arrest anyone said to be using them illegally. There is something sinister going on regarding the arrests with an unexpected turn of events. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

While pedaling his bike briskly for the energy to reheat his meal in the microwave, RAZER thinks about his surroundings.
He then received a new mission through the implant of his eye.
His teammate Sadi was waiting for him....

We follow the dangerous and turbulent adventures of two agents in a dystopian near and very frightening future.
I really liked this short story with its mysterious plot and unique atmosphere.

Nous suivons les aventures dangereuses et mouvementées de deux agents dans un futur dystopique proche et très effrayant.
J’ai bien aimé cette histoire courte à l’intrigue mystérieuse et à l’ambiance unique.

This brings to mind the gritty neon grime of Bladehunter without the humour of Austin Dragon's Liquid Cool series. Still the Hunters really grab my imagination - talk about paladins in sweat-grimed dirty armour!

A good start to the series that introduces a number of characters. A twisty plot with no clear reason for the detention of apparently innocent people. Recommended for sci-fi and dystopian fans.
