* They are officially published under that name * They are traditional stories not attributed to a specific author * They are religious texts not generally attributed to a specific author
Books whose authorship is merely uncertain should be attributed to Unknown.
The worst book I've ever read. Not persuasive at all and super repetitive; it felt as if the author was trying to hypnotize you. I'd rather read Twilight than this book; only read it for a religion class. Skip if you want to read anything with literary or educational merit.
To be completely honest, I didn't finish the book. I understand the point being made. I tend to be a cosmic believer and that we have the ability to get in touch with our "higher self" our "divineness." But this book did not get me there. It's by Anonymous; I get that. But there is nothing to indicate anything about its origin. The language makes it sound like it's some ancient text...but not quite. The language makes it sound like a translation from a foreign language...but not quite. A poor translation? Faked Old World? And the "not quite" makes it stilted--drudgery to read---and oddly suspect rather than impersonal. There are other books on the subject that are far easier to comprehend.
Someone recommended this book to me about a year ago and I finally got around to purchasing it and reading it recently. Although it's just 84 pages, it's packed with common sense wisdom surrounding this age-old concept that God is indeed within each and everyone of us, and within everything else in creation as well. Although the back-cover refers to it as a "classic of Christian literature," I felt its message was truly non-denominational. I highly recommend this work as a spiritual growth resource.
This is a little book the size of your hand that is very good. It is the other side of Elvis. "This was his favorite book, next to the Bible. He gave out copies by the score to friends and acquaintances. He was constantly searching for God." That is the reason he always made sure there was at least one or two gospel songs in his concerts. It is said that he had this little book with him all the time.
