Marie Rydzynski was born on March 28 in West Germany to Polish parents. She moved to America at the age of four. For an entire year, Marie and her family explored the eastern half of the country before finally settling in New York.
Marie swears she was born writing, "which must have made the delivery especially hard for my mother." From an early age, Marie's parents would find her watching television or tucked away in some private place, writing at a furious pace. "Initially, I began writing myself into my favourite shows. I was a detective on '77 Sunset Strip,' the missing Cartwright sibling they never talked about on 'Bonanza' and the 'Girl from U.N.C.L.E.' before there was a 'Girl from U.N.C.L.E.,' not to mention an active participant in the serialized stories of 'The Mickey Mouse Club.'" Marie began to write her first romance novel when she was 11 years old, although she claims that, at the time, she didn't even realize it was a romance! She scribbled off and on, while dreaming of a career as an actress.
Marie was only 14 when she first laid eyes on the man she would marry, truly her first love, Charles Ferrarella. During her days at Queens College, New York, acting started to lose its glamour as Marie spent more and more time writing. After receiving her English degree, specialising in Shakespearean comedy, Marie and her family moved to Southern California, where she still resides today.
After an interminable seven weeks apart, Charles decided he couldn't live without her and came out to California to marry his childhood sweetheart. Ever practical, Marie was married in a wash-and-wear wedding dress that she sewed herself, appliqués and all. "'Be prepared' has always been my motto,"the author jokes. This motto has been stretched considerably by her two children, Nikky and Jessi, "but basically, it still applies," she says.
In November of 1981, she sold her first novel for Harlequin. Marie, who now has written over 150 novels, has one goal: to entertain, to make people laugh and feel good. "That's what makes me happy," she confesses. "That, and a really good romantic evening with my husband." She's keeping her fingers crossed that her reader's enjoy reading her books as much as she enjoyed writing them.

Podría haber entendido esta historia mejor si hubiese sido escrita en los 80, pero por más que he investigado, su fecha de publicación es 2010. Así que no, en 2010 no se pueden soltar esas perlas y quedarse tan ancha. Y de no ser por ese aire retrógrado que la autora impone a su historia esta hubiese sido de 4 estrellas.
Lo peor de todo es la sensación de que las frases y pensamientos que la autora pone en sus personajes no les van, es como si los obligase a pensar así, porque después actúan de manera muy diferente. Voy a dejar algunos ejemplos, porque la historia está bastante bien, y si puedes ignorar esos comentarios, entonces esta historia es para ti. A mí me cansaron un poco, una pena…
Blake es un juez en su treintena, con fama de justo, trabajador y dedicado. También es un solitario debido a circunstancias del pasado, y esto es lo que piensa de la protagonista, Greer, una detective con tablas y valía demostrada que acaba de salvarle la vida:
Recuerda, es el año 2010 y yo no consigo quitarme de encima la sensación de que esto no es lo que piensa Blake sino lo que piensa la Sra. Ferraella. Perdón si me equivoco.
Otra perlita es cuando el juez quiere ir a un acto benéfico pero no quiere llevar a Greer de guardaespaldas porque llevar a una mujer de guardaespaldas es embarazoso y amenaza su virilidad. Sus palabras, no las mías. Y hay más, pero bueno… como muestra un botón.
Y la última, aunque esta vez no es sexista pero deja claro que tipo de héroes dibuja esta autora. Acaban de hacer el amor por primera vez y esto es lo que Blake le pregunta justo al terminar:
Greer piensa que lo pregunta medio en serio. Yo pienso que el tío es “una flor que no acabó de abrirse”.
Lo mejor de esta historia es que el romance es suuuuper lento, que ambos protagonistas son bastante maduros en cuanto a sus sentimientos, que hay poco o apenas melodrama y que esta vez (¡sí!) esta vez el TSTL es el héroe ;P
Greer es un encanto y se merecía algo muchísimo mejor.
El suspense ha sido un personaje secundario sin mucha importancia y poco trabajado.

Worst of all is the feeling that the phrases and thoughts that the author puts on the characters don´t fit them; it is as if she forced them to think this way, because later they act very differently. Blake is a judge in his thirties, with a reputation of a fair, hardworking and dedicated one. He is also a loner due to circumstances of the past, and this is what he thinks about the heroine, Greer, an experienced detective who just saved his life:
Remember, it's the year 2010 and I can´t get over the feeling that this is not what Blake thinks but what Ms. Ferraella thinks. Sorry if I'm wrong.
Another gem is when the judge wants to go to a charity act but does not want to take Greer as his bodyguard because a female bodyguard is embarrassing and threatens his manhood. His words, not mine. And there's more, but well ... the proof is in the pudding.
And the last one, although this time it is not a sexist one but it makes clear what kind of heroes this author draws. They just made love for the first time and this is what Blake asks her just after finishing:
Greer thinks he's semi-serious. I think the guy is a jerk.
The best things about this story are that the romance is sooo slow, that the MC´s feelings are pretty mature, that there is little melodrama and that this time (yes!) this time the TSTL is the hero ;P
Greer is awesome and definitively deserved better.
The suspense has been a petty secondary character.

This was pretty standard fare for Ferrarella. Greer was a terrific heroine, strong, capable, funny. It was harder to get to know Blake. I didn't believe as much in the romance and love after such a short time. Blake seemed like the kind to fall slowly. The I love yous after a single night together didn't work for me. With a higher page count she may have been able to pull it off. I wanted to see Blake's process of falling in love.
And a note about the suspense: I would have liked it far more had the revelation about Blake's wife at the end not happened. And if he wasn't so blase about it. It would have been better if the whole thing had happened as they thought.

I always enjoy the stories about bodyguard female is protecting and falling in love with her man that she suppose to protect.

Cavanaugh Judgment by Marie Ferrarella may be my favorite book by this author...so far. Blake and Greer's story is filled with action, suspense, drama, humor and spice. The characters are fantastic and my favorite part of this incredible book. Cavanaugh Judgment is fast paced and once started, it's very hard to put down. This book is so well-written it is a nice smooth read. I enjoyed Cavanaugh Judgment from cover to cover and look forward to my next book by Marie Ferrarella. Cavanaugh Judgment is book 18 of the Cavanaugh Justice Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Two years ago she failed to save his wife, now she saves his life when a drug dealer shoots at him in the middle of his own courtroom. And just like that narcotics detective Greer O'Brien is tasked with protection detail for judge Blake Kincannon, despite her own misgivings about their "history" and his adamant refusal of needing a bodyguard. Maybe the man really does have a death wish...
This was another good installment in Ms. Ferrarella's Cavanaugh Justice series, but not as good as the previous few books I read. And this time it had absolutely nothing to do with the heroine. I loved Greer to death with all her little idiosyncrasies, but mostly her wit and wicked sense of humor. I had a few problems with the hero this time. Blake was a tad too remote and locked-up for my taste, so the story should've been a little longer to accommodate his very, very slow change of mind. Instead it all seemed a bit rushed and a tad too unrealistic.
The suspense was pushed into the background a little to showcase the romance, but since we're talking about the same romance that came across as a little rushed and forced, I certainly don't agree with that decision.

Loved Greer & Blake's story. Although I thought that it ended rather quickly and for the fact that it seemed somewhat unfinished. How did the guy get in the house? How was Gunny doing? I could of used a couple more pages! But other than I enjoyed seeing Blake come to see how much Greer meant to him. I had a feeling that the drug dealer was responsible for his wife's death!!!
