One of the best things about Kohta Hirano's sexy apocalypse of warring vampires, Nazis, Catholics, werewolves, and Australian mercenaries is that all the way up to, and possibly through, this final volume, we don't know who's going to win. The streets of London are awash in blood, a zeppelin descends a la Hindenburg, and six of our favorite characters are locked in face-off fights. It's possible that no one will come away from this crescendo "alive." Of course, we're not sure who's alive or undead at this point. But what's most certain is that London needs babies, because there isn't a civilian soul left alive in this battle to the undeath. Alas, Hellsing, we knew you well.

His first major success came with his manga series Hellsing, which got its start and was subsequently serialized in a monthly manga magazine, Young King OURs, towards the latter half of 1997.

It was a good series. I wish it was a little bit longer... otaku/cyborg main villain really cracked me up lol Father Anderson was a cool character, i wish he hadn't died. I liked the idea of building a Vampire/Nazi army to take over the world. Butler Walter's betrayal to Integra was a shame, i kind of liked him. Alucard was so cool, i wish they showed more of his origin... may be his first missions with the hellsing organization... mangaka touched his gloomy side a little bit with how he was defeted by Integra's father and his lonelyness (just a tiny pinch of it) but may be some Mina Harker would be nice, may be some more part of his life as Dracula, even before Mina Harker or something, a long origin story which has what we know from the Dracula novel partly and add on to it, with the Alucard spin would be nice. I would love to see more of Alucard as a character.

Overall, Hellsing is a pretty blatant example of the nineties-style gory bloodshed, with morally-grey borderline-invincible protagonists and paper-thin plot and a whole lot of red paint all over the place. It doesn't have much of anything deeper to offer, though I can't imagine why anyone would go for it looking for such things in the first place. But it does have its moments - a few bits of good characterization, even the occasional moment of subtlety.

Kohta Hirano’s Hellsing goes out with a bang. The entire manga series, of course, is filled with bangs and booms, but in a strange way the ending is deeply satisfying. I won’t say a lot about the details here since it’s too easy to give away spoilers, but I think now that I’ve handed these volumes back to their owner, I’m going to miss them.
I don’t read much manga, or even graphic novels for that matter. I started out, like most kids, reading comic books. Some of them, in my adult recollection, were really quite profound. I assimilated, however, the frequently repeated message that looking at pictures wasn’t really reading. I still feel like I’m cheating when I put them on Goodreads. An hour, maybe an hour-and-a-half of page flipping to follow a story seems like too little effort. I have to remind myself that a gripping novel of three-hundred pages can fly by and not seem like too much work. It is, I suspect, a matter of perspective.
Did I like the series? While I’m no fan of violence, yes, I have to admit that I did. The story has a discernible arc, even if it appears to have been made up, or adjusted, in the course of writing. Writers have always been known to self-correct. In the old days this came about before the long-form went to the printer. In more recent times, however, technologies have allowed us to make up the story as it unfolds, printing and selling along the way. Hellsing is a novel twist on the vampire story. Dracula is still here, as is van Helsing and Mina. Others of the original cast are also hidden away. It has been a pleasant way to spend a few free minutes on the long afternoons of the short days of winter.

I think, getting close to 30, i'm too old for this type of mangas. All splatter and gore, so much that no one thinks to check about the awful direction of the panels and pages, the shitload of characters that are hardly distinguishable, the incoherent script.
If you shut down your brain and want action that'll make you shit yourself in joy, then it's the head-chopping gut-spilling brain-exploding manga for you. Me, maybe I wasn't in the mood, maybe I expected something more goth and atmospheric, more bram-stokery than Michael Bay-ish.

This series was NOT supposed to affect me the way it did. How am i going to recover from this? 😭
I love how it gradually got better and kept surprising. I love how all the characters are flawed and I still cried over them.

December 24, 2025Ahhhh and my Hellsing manga journey is finished... what a beautiful ride. Excellent ending. While it has its ups and downs, I feel like it's such an iconic piece of art and storytelling that I can do nothing but be glad it exists and so happy I finally got to experience it in its entirety. Integra, Seras Victoria, Alucard, Anderson & Pip 4ever in my heart

Well, turns out, after long years of having left this one volume unread, I wish I had not read it. After Hirano amped the action and the tension and the bloodshed and just about everything, as well as showing us Alucard's true form in the previous volume, the finale seemed merely... procedural. Not sure if it's the right word, but basically it had this "let's wrap this up and get it over with" feeling.

Also, the way Alucard is defeated is one big "MEH".

En esta relectura he vuelto a disfrutar con este entramado sangriento y perverso. Kôta Hirano es un experto dando mal rollo y creando escenas turbias y crueles.
Él siempre ha dicho que pudo hacer con esta historia lo que le dio la gana y eso se nota. En un tomo habla sobre catolicismo y protestantismo y en el siguiente están los nazis de por medio... Luego lo hace encajar todo de forma que disfrutes del espectáculo grotesco, pero cada personaje está hecho para rizar el rizo en la historia y eso chirría.
Aún así, he disfrutado como la primera vez que lo leí.

El arte es excepcional y en mi opinion la forma en la que los personajes se relacionan y terminan sus story lines es maravilloso. La accion tambien es buenísima y el gore me parece mejor que en la animacion, tiene su magia el manga. Voy a extrañar al Padre Anderson.
En fin, termina muy satisfactoriamente el manga, solo en algunas partes se pone medio extraño pero perron.

De los 10 tomos que conforman el manga, este es el que menos me ha gustado de todos ellos.
Han empleado un recurso que he visto emplear en más ocasiones y que a mí en lo personal no me gusta. Y ese final absurdo 30 años más tarde, me sobraba.

If you're looking for blood n' guts, Nazis, and a religious war between protestants and catholics then this manga series is for you. While this ends the adult story of Dracula (oh yeah they call him Alucard in this) it feels unfinished in many ways. Or perhaps its been so long between volumes that there are story elements I'm forgetting. I still don't like what happened to Pip and Walter. The author is currently telling stories of a young Alucard and Walter in Japan, so if you read Japanese there is more story out there for you.

It's hard to believe that this was the last volume. Sometimes the story and imagery became a little convoluted and hard to follow, but I still enjoyed them and hoped to keep doing so. But the story did come to a satisyfing and interesting conclusion and in the end I really liked many of the characters in this series.

Some of these plot elements took a long time to come together like Officer Schrodinger. There a couple cool sci-fi elements incorporated into the story but loosely. The best parts are when the story links back to the original source material. There was cool poses and nice pen work and even a panty shot :O

One of my favorite manga series ever coming to an end right here. Hellsing is definitely THE BEST vampire story of the 21st century so far. Hirano ditches the bitchy glitter love vampires we're all sick of by now for a complete and total bad ass with almost god like powers.

。。。。どうしてこのシリーズは有名になったはよく分からない。最後の章は徳にダメだった。最後の章に新しいキャラを紹介した。ミーナってだれ？ドラキュラの伝説の人？ブラムストーカーのドラキュラは読んだけどミーナっという人は覚えない。
ウオルタのモチベーションもちゃんと説明していなかった。どうやってセラスはそんなに強くなったの？彼女は一人の人間を食ってローマのイスカリオテをそこまで怖がらせ？弱くなったね、イスカリオテ。それか、アルカードはただ遊んでいたかもしれない。

And Hellsing comes to an end! A perfectly find ending, with a strange epilogue chapter that returns to the series's weird comedy from the beginning. The big plan to defeat Alucard was cool, even if the Major himself wasn't a very interesting character himself.

Os voy a hablar de un manga muy especial para mí, porque me encanta el personaje de Drácula, a través de todas sus adaptaciones. Comencé con la novela de Bram Stocker y la película de Coppola con Gary Oldman. Luego de la película de Entrevista con el vampiro basada en la saga de novelas de Anne Rice.
Luego continué con toda la retahíla de películas de la Hammer y otras que tenían que ver con el mito vampírico como Vampyr de Dreyer o Nosferatu de Morneau
En aquel momento, cuando empecé a leer Hellsing, se había estrenado la película de Blade en el cine, y no se me ocurre otro espejo mejor que blade para hablar de Hellsing, aunque creo, en mi humilde opinión, que Hellsing tienen un universo más macabro y más molón, con meadas fuera de tiesto muy locas.
Nada tiene que ver con la imagen del vampiro que tenemos hoy en día, muy edulcorada con purpurina y brilli brilli al sol, con complejos y problemáticas adolescentes. Me parece más un intento de inculturar Romeo y Julieta hoy en día con estética de vampiro.
En primer lugar, diría que Hellsing es una serie de 10 tomos, con lo cual, es más bien corta, para contextualizarla en manga, pero eso ya os lo dejo a vuestro criterio. Hellsing versa sobre una organización centenaria que está al servicio de la tabla redonda en Inglaterra y que se dedica, como su fundador, a luchar contra los vampiros y demás bestias demoniacas (Necrófagos, hombres lobo...) Hellsing es una organización al servicio de la Iglesia anglicana y está en continuo contacto y roce con el vaticano que también tiene su propio comando para exterminar monstruos, se llama Iscariote 13 en honor al apóstol caído en desgracia. Todo esto está regado con dosis de thriller y trama de encubrimientos. Lo bueno es que esto que os acabo de contar no está explicitado de forma sesuda, más bien es una ida de olla loca, un escapar hacia adelante que engancha porque es una serie que no se toma en serio a sí misma. Es un divertimento.
Más adelante en el manga, se meterá en la trama una organización llamada "Milenium". Esta organización preserva a antiguos miembros nazis de las SS que intentarán de nuevo implantar el tercer Reich que no pudieron en el pasado. Como veis, todo muy loquísimo, pero ameno y brutal.
El arma más poderosa de Hellsing es el protagonista de la obra, el poderoso vampiro Alucard, que para los más avispados, sería Drácula al revés. Un personaje que amarás, con muchas capas e incomprensiblemente, un vampiro traidor a su especie, que caza a los suyos sin ningún atisbo de remordimientos. Junto al él, tendremos a su paladina que él mismo ha trasnformado, se trata de Ceres Victoria. Esta draculina será en la mayor parte del manga un alivio cómico, pero Kota Hirano la irá empoderando con el transcurrir de los tomos. Los demás protagonistas son Lady Integra Hellsing, directora de la organización y una mujer de armas tomar y Walter, el mayordomo, que en su tiempo fue también cazador de Hellsing junto al joven Alucard.
Otro de los puntos fuertes del manga es su estética. La estética de Alucard es total y la de las armas. En un apartado del manga que yo tengo (hace unos 15 años de Norma Editorial) hay una sección que viene siendo como una página en la que el autor habla de la obra y cómo la va elaborando. En ella, explica de forma jocosa cómo se le van ocurriendo las armas y que no busquemos la coherencia porque se las saca de la manga, se las inventa. Por eso también tienen un aspecto molón. Caso aparte es el de la violencia, que es brutal, demasiado hardcore para algunos y algunas. Está salpicada de un humor muy negro, pero lo que más resalta es su estética. Me acuerdo de una viñeta que no puedo reproducir, pero imaginad al vampiro caminando por la calle, la luna llena encima y en cada farola que se ve hay un cuerpo empalado. Vamos, brutal es poco, pero lo hace a modo de sobrada, si el mismo autor no se creyera lo que dibuja y lo pusiese sólo por molar. Es ese metalenguaje negro e irónico lo que más me gusta de Hellsing.
Es esa estética lo que te va empujando hacia adelante en el manga. Acabas diciendo que no tiene mucho sentido, porque a veces necesitas dejar en suspenso tu incredulidad, pero quieres más de esa droga.
Respecto a su demografía, que siempre hay controversia con este manga, en realidad, aunque tiene toques de Shonen, para mí es Seinen (el que no tenga idea de lo que hablo o no se haya iniciado en el manga, en el siguiente enlace, explico lo que son las demografías. Pincha aquí) Es verdad que cada vez se hace frente a amenazas mayores, pero el lenguaje, la sangre y toda la tipología de violencia a la que se hace referencia, debe de ser Seinen. Vamos, es para público adulto. También la pueden leer adolescentes, pero yo no se la pondría a mi hijo si tiene menos de 16 años, sobre todo hoy en día que la gente tiene una piel muy fina. No en vano, el autor, Kota Hirano venía de las publicaciones Hentai. Ja, ja, ja. Ya tenéis el pack del degenerado.
Bueno, creo que con esto es suficiente para animaros. Hay un spin off del manga a modo de precuela que se llama Hellsing Dawn (6 tomos), pero es difícil de conseguir en físico y básicamente, yo leería la obra principal. No os perdéis nada si solo leéis la de 10 tomos.
Para finalizar os dejo con una ilustración de Hellsing en anime, como prenda de la estética y luego también para aprovechar y decir que tiene dos animes y unas cuantas ovas. Eso os da un poco la dimensión y la fama del manga que os recomiendo. Eso es todo por mi parte.

Karya Kohta Hirano sensei yg satu ini bukanlah termasuk fave saya. Tertarik baca serial ini karena begitu banyak tawaran serta jika kita melihat rating di goodreads, hey, nilainya sangat bagus!! LOL
Premisnya cukup klise. Tim "pembasmi" vampir, yg sudah berlangsung sejak lama (beraba2 lampau) di UK. Tentu saja (klise) di tim tsb ada sesosok vampir "peliharaan", namanya Alucard.
Cerita mengalir pesat hingga sebenarnya selama 10 jilid ini hanya berfokus pada musuh bekas rezim nazi. Sensei berhasil menghadirkan karya yg gore dg nuansa 90an yg baik. Setiap panel penuh dg potong2an dan bercak darah. Penuh aksi laga yg gila.
Namun bukan itu yg membuat saya tidak terlalu "kena" dg karya ini hhe. (maap).
Alur cerita begitu stag, sempat berkembang di jilid 3 namun makin tidak jelas juntrungannya. Lompatan seperti bagaimana Seras menerima keadaanya dan tetiba memanggil master pada ALucard (lompatan yg luar biasa!!!) begitu ganjil dan tidak nendang. Pertempuran beragam pihak, Nazi, Hellsing dan Vatikan, memang ramai tokoh namun arahannya begitu bias. Prinsip awal yg sebelumnya berkaitan dg agam malah tidak digali lebih jauh.
Belum lagi catatan kaki Hirano sensei di setiap akhir jilid yg memang menunjukkan kalau manga ini memang sekenanya hha.
Nilai plus utk serial ini tentu saja karakter Alucard serta artwork yg begitu baik (mungkin llebih tepat aplause utk tim asisten) yg berhasil memberikan latar di setiap panel (terutama sejak volume 5) dg baik.

Karya Kohta Hirano sensei yg satu ini bukanlah termasuk fave saya. Tertarik baca serial ini karena begitu banyak tawaran serta jika kita melihat rating di goodreads, hey, nilainya sangat bagus!! LOL
Premisnya cukup klise. Tim "pembasmi" vampir, yg sudah berlangsung sejak lama (beraba2 lampau) di UK. Tentu saja (klise) di tim tsb ada sesosok vampir "peliharaan", namanya Alucard.
Cerita mengalir pesat hingga sebenarnya selama 10 jilid ini hanya berfokus pada musuh bekas rezim nazi. Sensei berhasil menghadirkan karya yg gore dg nuansa 90an yg baik. Setiap panel penuh dg potong2an dan bercak darah. Penuh aksi laga yg gila.
Namun bukan itu yg membuat saya tidak terlalu "kena" dg karya ini hhe. (maap).
Alur cerita begitu stag, sempat berkembang di jilid 3 namun makin tidak jelas juntrungannya. Synopsis: There's a secret organization somewhere in England created to defend the Queen and country from monsters of all sorts. Their secret weapon? The most powerful monster in the world. What better way to deal with monsters than to send an even bigger threat their way?

Hellsing is pure carnage, following a twisted cast of characters that know how to take pleasure in the unfettered chaos that war brings. Alucard is a high-class vampire that hunts down supernatural beasts, Alexander is a priest fueled by bloodlust and an unhealthy love for God, Major is the second coming of Hitler, Integra is the granddaughter of Van Helsing himself, and that's only a few of the main players. The premise of the plot and the characters playing the game of war make for an absolutely ridiculous and bloody fun time.
Again, the word that comes to mind here is carnage, and carnage is what is delivered in a very cunning and charming fashion. The plot may indeed be insane and a bit silly, but Hellsing takes pride in its crazy premise and has a badass sense of self-awareness that makes it a cut above the average pulp fiction escapade.

I finally made it to the end! I didn't know who was gonna win, so it was an exciting read. Schrödinger!!! I also really love the Captain, even though he never speaks, he's just cool. And Vernedead makes an appearance, even though he's dead!! We also finally get an up-skirt shot of Seras, after ten years of somehow not, with the outfit she's been wearing. Wow! I really liked the final pages of the series. :)
Anyway, I didn't like everything about this series, but it certainly was exciting! Just cheese and violence, characters being over-the-top cool, no-thoughts-head-empty style. Sometimes, that's just nice.

Pego la reseña que escribí hace más de diez años a la espera de releer la serie en la nueva Edición Inmortal:
Gran final para una serie con varios altibajos que repunta algunos tomos un tanto cansadores para cerrar con broche de oro. Me encanta cómo se resuelve la naturaleza casi divina del protagonista y el epílogo de 30 años después le da la última y genial vuelta de tuerca a una gran saga. Del dibujo no se puede decir más que a esta altura alcanza niveles que pasan de espectaculares y Hirano es uno de los mejores narradores bélicos que conozca. Cuando pueda, subo la edición argentina, que es la que tengo.

For the most part, this is a fine conclusion to the series. My only complaint comes from the villains letting the heroes kill them. That just completely undermined everything. I also feel that this entire installment was so short, it felt more like it should have been the last few chapters of the previous book, instead of its own.
Still, old eye-patch Integra and full-vampire Seras might just make up for all that.

Definitivamente cumplió con el final.
No es esperanzador, ni triste, también está en el medio…solo es lógico y coherente.
Igual eliminamos las últimas 2 paginas habría estado igual de bien el final, ahora solo me queda ver el anime y ver toda esta acción en pantalla ☺️
No me arrepiento de haberme leído toda esta historia, creo que si me perdía algo…pero como dicen “Los tiempos de Dios son perfectos”
