Published in 1988 after Luton’s Littlewoods Cup win (i.e. the League Cup) this book provides a “pictorial celebration” of that event whilst also looking at the cup run that led to it. The book also concentrates on the 1959 FA cup run that saw Luton reach the final before losing to Nottingham Forest. As well as this there are brief bits about Luton’s other history in both competitions followed by all the stats of every match ever played in these competitions by Luton (round, date, opponent, Luton line-up, Luton scorers, and attendance), from 1885-86 through to 1987-88.

It is called a “pictorial” history but there is still plenty of written content in here too, which is nice and informative, and all the pictures have similarly informative captions.

Most of the pictures are in black and white (just 8-pages are in full-colour), and the pictures for 1958-59 and years before that are more squad and player portrait pictures rather than action pictures (with cameras not being as good in those days). But it is all still good nostalgia.

Overall I enjoyed this very much, and it sits nicely in my collection of Luton Town books. ⚽
