Katarina Masterson is a former convict who has just been released from the dungeon, after serving only 5 years, because of good behavior. Now, all Katarina wants is a new beginning. Not an easy thing to do in Kingdom City. Until she is offered a part in the reality TV show, Real-Life Ways to Catch a King. Determined to leave her wicked ways behind her, she takes the plunge into this new adventure. Until she meets Serge, the show’s producer. A dangerous man, made even more dangerous to her because he ignites her naughty side...
Serge Sokolnokov has always been on the wrong side – of the law, the tracks, of whatever. But Serge wants all this to change now. He wants a family, children, and a respectable life. Yet, he is seriously torn when he meets Katarina. She fuels his blood like no other woman, yet she also comes with a background that’s shady to say the least...
Passion flares between them, and from encounter to encounter, both know they are sinking in too deep. Katarina is convinced she can have her new start with Serge. But he isn’t so convinced. She is not the woman for him, at least not for the life he now wants to lead. Which will he choose? Respectability, or being known as the “bad apple” always?
Not having read the previous two books in this series, it was a little confusing to get into the world depicted in the story. However, Ms. Evans’ brand of writing makes it easy for a reader to grasp her meanings and settings in a reasonably short time. Realism is also one of her fortes, especially in the dialogue she pens for Katarina.
Overall, a good story. The reality show provided comic relief to the plot, adding to the dimensions of the relationship building between Serge and Katarina.
