The best way into someone's heart is through their stomach, and the best way in there is with cookies.
I've been alone a while since Adeline's father passed away, and as she's gotten older, I finally feel like I can try my hand at love again, or at least a date. But between running a busy pastry shop and the mom-life responsibilities and worries, it's hard to find time to match-make for myself.
So I throw my feelings into my desserts- literally. My love and desire infuse my food and help relationships blossom. You can call me cupid, I guess.
Come Valenine's Day, I expect the rush of hungry patrons and lovers looking for something yummy to give their significant others. What I don't expect is to have two very aggressive bear shifters take an interest in more than my famous Swoon-worthy Cherry Cobbler, or how much I'll enjoy every delectable minute of it.
Cherry Cobbler is a companion novella set in the world of Newborn City. It is a paranormal shifter romance with adult themes and language and may not be suitable for all readers.
Lover of dark, decadent, and deadly romances, RE Johnson has been a passionate storyteller and fantasy fan since they were in elementary school. In fact, they wrote their first novel in fifth grade.
Now, they use their Creative Writing degree to create stories that profess love, respect, and triumph over evil and contain strong female characters who are always ready to throw down – both in and out of the bedroom.
Currently, they reside in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they spend their free time playing Dungeons and Dragons, wrangling their two rambunctious children, and reading all the smut, fantasy, sci-fi, and mythology they can get their hands on.
This was a delectable Valentine's treat of a novella! A witchy single mom who owns a bakery crosses paths with not one, but two gorgeous bear shifters when they request one of her delicious cherry cobblers. I absolutely devoured this story, not once but twice already! It has a great story with a mix of suspense, banter, wit, and some truly decadent spice, whew! This is one of my new favorite MMF stories, definitely a must-read for Valentine's 😍
This best description i have for this book is down right delectable. It starts off by being so descriptive that you feel like you are standing in the middle of the pastry shop yourself and it does not let up from there….which, between the sweet pastries and hot spice, you are in for a very vivid, intense ride. I thought I loved her other characters set in this world, but I don’t know, for a novella, these characters stole my heart.

Bryony (witch, mfc) Adeline (13, daughter of mfc) Tashunka (grizzly bear-shifter, mmc) Kono (blackbear-shifter, mmc) Donna (Tas's crazy ex wife)
Bryony is a widowed baker, infusing love into her pastries through witchcraft. Tashunka is a grumpy, brusque bear-shifter who lives with Kono, a flirty bear-shifter. Tas and Kono came to get a cherry cobbler for their grandmother from Bry's bakery, but she had mistakenly infused it with lust instead of love, thinking it was for Tas. She races after them to get the cobbler back, but ends up in bed with Kono having the best adult time ever (even if they both secretly wanted Tas to join). Then Donna shows up right after Bry heads home. Things get very dangerous, quickly. Tas has been fighting his feelings for Kono, and now he's fighting them for Bry as well. But Donna scented Bry and has a new target besides Kono. Can they save Bry from Donna? Who does the male accent belong to that is also at Bry's house?
I loved AfP, but this one was even better! ARC copy honest review, there were a couple of typos but 5 stars from me. High levels of spice and steam, elements of danger, and adult language.
I had the honor of reading this novella as an ARC and am willingly leaving this review.
I did not think that I was going to be able to read this novella at all as I had thought it was going to be a patreon exclusive but I had the shock of my life when I opened my email and seen the download link. I screamed. It took me less than 24 hours to read it even though I wanted it to last longer. Please check the triggers of this if you have any. Bryony is a widowed witch working in a bakery and is making some things for Valentines day. She gets herself a phone in order and things heat up from there. This is a spicy novella and I was hooked from the first chapter. This is set in the same city as R.E's debut novel Affinity for Pain (PLEASE READ IT TOO -ALSO CHECK TRIGGERS OF IT AS WELL) and I have already told R.E that I need more from the Osborne's. So I hope that will be happening soon.
What do you get when you put together a witch that can imbue her pastries with any feelings she wishes, a sunshiny beahr shifter, and a grumpy (emotionally) self preserving beahr shifter?
The single hottest menage I've ever read. That's what you get!
I've been obsessed with this author's writing since AFP came out last summer. I love their writing more with every. single. release.
Every book they release, they include something new that they haven't ever added into their writting yet. And they have yet to disappoint me in any way!
Cherry Cobbler is no different! After seeing the authors videos and FB posts about CC for the last few weeks, I found myself getting incredibly hyped for the novella to hit my Kindle. And maaaaan this one did not disappoint in any way! I couldn't put it down once I started it. I loved every single moment of angst, drama, and good old fashioned knotty lovin'. The author hit it out of the park with this one!
Cherry Cobbler is a quick read I finished in one sitting. This book has Desserts, witches, shifters, magic, love, tragedy, suspense and dont forget ... SPICE. All packed in a fun Valentine read.
We follow Bryony, who is a single mom after losing her husband in a tragic accident. She is a pastry chef that infuses every dessert she makes with love in hopes of giving people what she expierienced with her husband. One morning she gets an order from two beahrs of the Osborne clan. After which Bry might get more than what she bargained for.
A phonecall about a cherry cobbler, a toxic batch and a dessert for grandma sure sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. How will she explain that the old lady can never ever take a bit of this particular dessert? How can a dessert cause the chaos that ensues afterwards? And what role will these two beahr shifters take on in her life? Read to find out!
The author writes such lovely characters, you can’t help liking them! A little bit too on the insta-love side for me, but that’s probably to be expected from a novella. It was still a fun read and it was nice to return to the Newborn City world and I always love to see MM / MMF in my romances.
This is a second book set in Newborn City. Well written with characters that you can relate to. A little heavy on the "Insta-love" for my taste, but hey, that's just my opinion. The two bears are amusing and funny to watch. Throw in a witch who puts her heart into her work and there isn't anything that love can't conquer!
Oh my god!! This book was hot and I truly mean hot!! This book was absolutely phenomenal and who doesn't like some very fine very built beahr shifters! The Story, the angst, the instalove, and the ex drama brought together an amazing story with the perfect ending
Oh. My. God! I knew this was going to be different from the other Newborn City works, but I didn’t expect to love it so much! It’s my first bear shifter which actually made everything else about the relationships so much better. Shifters, magic, murderous blasts from the past, a poly trio, double penetration, and knotting 🥵🥵Cherry Cobbler is everything you could ever want from a short spicy Valentine special!
This story was everything and more. It was flirty, action packed and dirty all in one. Bonus is it was a paranormal romance. It was about 2 bear shifter and a beautiful woman. I love how the MFC was a single mother and a boss!!!!! I don’t want to give to much away but I absolutely loved this story.

This was my first shifter romance of this particular nature, and can I just say I’m HOOKED?! This story was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and some of the interactions just had me laughing either from excitement or actual joy.
Awwwww!!! This was such a good novella. I really love how this author makes such good short stories. You get enough backstory and plot to make it feel like a whole novel and it’s amazing. I love these characters and hope to see more of them in the future.
Very spicy, quick burn Valentine’s Day novella with shifters, witches, and lots of MMF, MF, and MM action. Even in such a short book, it is packed with not only all the spice, but a pretty action packed, suspenseful and fast paced plot line that helps bring the characters together even more. If you like it fast, spicy, and intense, with a side helping of humor and banter, you’ll definitely love this one.
Cherry Cobbler by R.E. Johnson is a heartwarming and poignant story that blends elements of family, tradition, and personal growth. The novel’s vivid descriptions and relatable characters make it easy to get lost in its world. Johnson’s writing captures both the sweetness and the complexity of life, much like the titular dessert—comforting yet full of depth. The emotional resonance of the plot, along with its gentle exploration of grief and healing, makes it a satisfying and thought-provoking read. Fans of character-driven stories with a touch of nostalgia will find much to enjoy in this book.
I really enjoyed this. It's cute and cozy but with smutty goodness. You are emersed in the story from the beginning and can really imagine yourself in the sweet smelling bakery. It has action and drama and a HEA. And of course 2 🐻 1👩🦰 🍆🍆✨️✨️. As always, check your triggers. But this is a perfect cozy autumn ,snuggled next to the fire, Sunday afternoon read.
Incompetent bear shifters. These guys were outsmarted 5 times in this very short book. Like Bry you can do better, these guys are kinda dumb. This was my first bear shifter book and I am going to try to not assume all bear shifters are stupid.
So other than being super frustrated, it was a okay book. I have no other issues other than the two men weee dumb.
Major DNF. The writing wasnt for me. I managed 20% and got to a point where one of guys literally tells her he wants to get a "whiff" of her... and I just gagged and immediately returned. Apparently that word is criminally offensive to my brain.
